What's the dumbest rule you've seen at a festival?
Every festival has that one rule that makes zero sense. What's the weirdest one you've run into?
How do you actually make new friends at a rave?
I always see people say rave crowds are super friendly, but actually starting a conversation can still feel awkward lol.
What usually works for you? Complimenting someone’s outfit, trading kandi, dancing with the people around you, or just saying hi between sets?
Also curious if anyone has made real long-term friends from a random festival interaction.
What's one thing every first-time festival goer forgets?
If you could give one piece of advice to someone going to their first rave this year, what would it be?
Festival bag policies are getting stricter. What’s the most ridiculous one you’ve seen?
Feels like every festival got its own random bag rules now lol. One place says hydration packs are fine, another says “only 2 pockets,” another cares about size but not compartments. Half the time it just depends who’s checking your line. What’s the dumbest bag rule you’ve run into?
👋 Welcome to r/RaveBeetle — Festival Gear, Tips, Stories & Community
Hey everyone, welcome to r/RaveBeetle.
We built this space for ravers, festival-goers, and anyone who lives for those unforgettable weekends.
RaveBeetle started with one simple idea: festival gear should actually work for real festival life. Better hydration, smarter storage, anti-theft features, and room to make it your own.
But this community isn’t just about our packs.
This is a place to talk about everything festival culture:
hydration tips
festival packing lists
anti-theft advice
outfit ideas
custom setups
lineup talk
festival stories
security policies
gear recommendations
and all the little things people only learn after enough weekends in the crowd
What to post
Share whatever helps the community:
What’s your next festival?
What’s in your pack?
What’s one thing you never forget to bring?
What festival mistake did you only make once?
What’s your favorite customization setup?
Community vibe
Keep it friendly, helpful, and real.
This is a place for learning, sharing, and helping each other have better festival experiences.
We’re still building this space, so if you’re early here, you’re helping shape what it becomes.

What’s one EDM set you still think about years later?
Some sets just stick with you forever.
Could be because of the music, the crowd, where you were in life, whatever.
Curious what set people still think about years later.
smaller festivals are more fun than massive ones
Massive festivals are obviously impressive, but some of the best weekends I’ve ever had were at smaller events.
Smaller festivals just feel more human sometimes. You run into the same people all weekend, the crowds feel less aggressive, and there’s less pressure to constantly chase the “biggest moment” possible
Festival Culture Has Changed A Lot in 10 Years
10 years ago it felt like people went to festivals with almost no plan. Cheap camelbaks, kandi, cargo shorts, maybe a disposable camera if you were fancy lol. Half the time people were just trying to survive the heat and not lose their group.
Now the whole culture feels way more intentional. Outfits became part of the experience. Social media changed a lot too. People care more about aesthetics, documenting the weekend, finding their group easily, planning sets, and building an overall vibe instead of just showing up.
Even the energy feels different sometimes. Older festivals felt more underground and chaotic. Now a lot of events feel almost like temporary cities with their own fashion, routines, and culture.
Curious what changes stand out the most to people who’ve been going to shows for years.
