Is it worth it anymore?

Ngl, I wasted most of my 20s in a profession I can’t stand. I definitely have regrets about it all for sure, but I’m choosing not to focus on them. I wanted to know from folks who’ve seen a moderate amount of success, is it even worth trying to build a career in music anymore? With AI taking over literally every aspect of it, and the fact that hundreds of thousands of not millions of “producers” exist now, would I be wasting my time trying to pursue a career in sync or music in general? For context I am a 30 y/o M with a wife and 2 kids

Found it!

A little while ago, I was instructed in this sub to figure out where my short was coming from and why it made my 90 amp fuse pop. I’ve found that it was the bolt on the starter highlighted in the pic.

I’m pretty sure the yellow and red wire coming from it is ignition. It’s a relatively new OEM starter, was just purchased last season and wasn’t taken out more than 5 times since. Ohms meter showed it was where the resistance was coming from and once I took the yellow and red wire off of it, that pop stopped happening when trying to start it.

What do I do about this bolt shown?

Absolutely the worst piece of technology I’ve ever owned by a very long shot

If it’s not one thing it’s another with this godforsaken garbage. EVERYTHING else in my house has no issues ever connecting to the internet but THIS. THIS of course always has some kind of issue. If it’s not the connection, then it’s apps randomly crashing while I’m in the middle of a great show/movie. If it’s not that, then it’s trouble turning on. If ifs not that then it’s trouble connecting to my soundbar. IVE HAD IT. WORST TV EVER

Feels like I should be going faster…

This is an evinrude 8hp on a 14’ flat bottom. I weigh about 280lb, and with the gas tank, trolling motor and battery at the front to balance the weight, and rods, I feel like I should still be going faster than 6mph. Gets up on plane with ease but yeah definitely feeling like this motor is underpowered. The boat itself is rated for 640lb capacity

Trailering?

Got an evinrude 8hp and wanted to know if it was fine to just pop it on the transom when trailering and tilt up, or will that ruin the transom?

u/RazzmatazzIcy5037 — 12 days ago

Trailering?

Got an evinrude 8hp that I plan on taking out tomorrow. I’ve always stowed it in my truck bed on an outboard mount, but that seems a bit ridiculous now and I was wondering if it can just be tightened on to the transom and tilted up then locked in position, or will that destroy the transom?

Experience with jobowl?

Curious to know if anyone has had any experience with the plugin/tool known as jobowl. From what I understand it’s supposed to use ATS technology to scan job descriptions and restructure your resume to fit it. Has anyone had any luck with this or something similar?

Wondering if this is wired correctly?

That 90 amp fuse keeps popping anytime I turn my key to start it.

Truly lost and wondering what steps I should take next?

Good morning/afternoon/evening based on wherever you may be reading from. I am a 29 y/o male quickly approaching 30 in a few weeks and I feel as though I am truly lost as far as career path goes.

I made a mistake and left college back in 2018 to join a fire/EMS department. Found out years in that it was far from what I would actually want or even be comfortable doing on a frequent basis. Since then I’ve literally been stuck in the EMS/healthcare field and can’t seem to escape.

I went back to school and acquired my bachelors in multimedia journalism in December of 2023, and the first job I landed after that was in suicide prevention, which ended up showing me that not a lot of people really give a damn about people’s mental health. I am stuck working for a commercial ambulance company and it seems as though no matter who and where I apply, it’s either no response, a scam, or rejection letters.

I got into some legal trouble back in November, but luckily the case was dismissed with a stet disposition, so I am still conviction free, however the charges do still show up as closed on my background check. Not sure if this will deter many employers but I wouldn’t be surprised.

I just want to know how to proceed as far as careers go, ideally I would love another remote job like how the suicide prevention was, but at this point I feel as though I’d take anything to get out of the medical field as long as it pays at least $26/hr. I even put some thought into HVAC, electrician, and plumbing apprenticeships but those will all take a while (at least half a year) to even be considered.

I want to create a better life for my wife and kids, and this commercial ambulance gig isn’t cutting it by a very long shot. Please please please throw me any kind of advice/help or guidance as to how I can possibly move forward. Thank you in advance and have a wonderful day!

Can a trolling motor go here?

Wondering if I can place it right on the port side beside this transom mount. I would potentially be putting an 8hp evinrude on the mount, and then a 55 lb thrust trolling motor next to it. Would that require an additional transom plate?

2 simple questions…

Wanted to know if I could just clamp on a 55lb thrust trolling motor to the right or left of my outboard without needing an additional transom plate. Also, it is somewhat of a weird build, but a 14 foot length and 48” width and I wanted to know if it was possible to simply drill holes on the perimeter to install a Bimini top on this boat. It doesn’t have rungs on the sides the same was a tracker boat

I just wanna get on the water…

This little piece of trash has been causing me a significant amount of headache. I have a 3.0L Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2 and every time I try to start my engine, I hear a single click/pop and lose all electricity. Ive been able to get the engine to turn over ONCE, and that was after letting it sit in the “ON” position for like 30 minutes. I’ve bought like 4 of these things now and I’m at my wits end. At the point where I don’t even feel comfortable taking this boat anywhere now

Rough idle or no?

Finally figured everything out and got her running consistently. Just as a guy going from 4 strokes to a 2 stroke, is this considered a rough/concerning idle? Or am I good to go?

u/RazzmatazzIcy5037 — 27 days ago

I wanna thank yal, almost there

Genuinely from the bottom of my heart I want to thank everybody under this sub who has helped me get this old thing running again. I found out it was the fuel line coming from the primer and replaced it now she starts up no problem. All that’s left to figure out is the rough idle and why she cuts off if the RPMs aren’t high. I took the airbox off just for easier access to the carb throat, but put it back on and ran it with the same result—runs good—> rough idle —> cuts off.

How’s the fishing over at the Southwest Area Boat Ramp

Curious to know if there are cats and snakehead through here, and if it’s best to be on a boat or from the dock?

At my wits end

I hate this thing. It’s an 87’ evinrude 8hp(2stroke). Had it working and running fine, went on a trip and sold my working 4 stroke, and then of course it won’t fire up now. I’ve fully cleaned the carb and replaced gaskets, spark plugs are fine and giving good spark, has compression consistent in the 110-120 range. I can’t for the life of me understand why it won’t work now. It has that shitty primer system instead of a traditional choke and evinrude realized this was dumb as hell and made a choke version the same year. Please help I just want to have a decent summer.

Wanna know which seal to replace

Wanted to know if I needed to replace the prop shaft seal or something else. This is a 1987 evinrude 8hp, and I have it tilted up because I wanted to see where the leak was actually coming from. It’s this super tiny hole and you can see in the pictures that it’s producing a slow steady leak of either oil or grease.

Am I screwed?

Left it in some clean water for about a week and came back to this all over the lower unit and in the water itself. Did I just ruin my motor? I’m new to 2 strokes and this is an 87 evinrude 8hp

u/RazzmatazzIcy5037 — 2 months ago

1987 Evinrude 8HP. Just got this from FB marketplace, guy selling it stated he didn’t know how to get it running. Really clean motor, looked like it was maintained well. Was very simple carb cleaning that needed to be done, just somewhat difficult to access because the primer system runs through the air box and needs extra steps to properly take it off.

This is my first 2 stroke, I’ve been running a 5HP Coleman 4 stroke for a couple years. Outside of the standard impeller replacement, carb cleaning, spark plug replacement(if needed), and proper greasing of all pivot/moveable points, what else should I be doing to make sure she’s fully water ready?

I just…I’ll let the video do the talking. This was after fixing the starter fuse issue and cleaning the carb to finally get her going.
