Vandals got to your car again?
Scum, subhuman scum!
The pve mode didn’t bring many blast havers back
These numbers are looking really bad :)
Any of you seriously addicted to this game?
Like every part of it captures my full attention. Fighting bots, grabbing loot, intense shootouts with other teams in the perimeter tunnels, the crazy mad dashes to the final exfil as the rain on outpost covers you. Everything is so much fun and im a few hundred hours into it and I can't stop.
How is the remaining population of this game still so awful?
Hadn't played in a while so I decided to load up a cryo crew fill. No mic assassin bum rushes control without saying anything, no pings, etc. then dies and insta DCs. Had a moment of clarity where I thought, "why am I even playing this game right now?". I'm sure many have experienced the same.
You would think that with the playercount dropping the remaining people would actually be decent, but I guess not.
What’s your success rate at getting other people to play this game?
So far I’m 0/5
- my boss (didn’t like losing his stuff)
- my wife (couldn’t play on steam OS)
- my older brother (learning curve too steep)
- my younger brother (learning curve too steep)
- my favorite coworker (game isn’t free)
Anyone got some success stories for me?
We made it into a smash JT video!
W after W for marathonhate
If you were to add anything to help the game, what would it be?
Casual player since day 1, enjoying it a lot and sad to see it's lost it's initial hype. Annoyed about a lot of the discourse online but I'm playing until I don't have fun anymore. But I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks about what could be done about some of the hard points people have with this game.
Not asking about what would make it popular and suddenly get the player counts in the tens of thousands again, but to help keep the community healthy for a long amount of time.
Love the game and wish it stays for a while tho lol, but who knows what the future brings
Stop filling people on the wrong servers just because there aren't any players lol
I'd rather wait 15 minutes for a match than have to play with 700 ping on some american server, where i loose no matter what because it takes me 5 minutes to open a damn door. Actually ridiculous
In Hindsight - This is Only Half a Game.
I had a blast with this game in Season 1 loved everything . The art style, gunplay, and even the lore and faction stories. It has a very strong foundation and even though I still prefer Destiny 2 overall I really enjoyed my time with it. Even my 15 year old son played the crap out of it for all of season 1 even doing Cryo with Randoms. But 2 months in I dipped but he kept playing until a few weeks into Season 2 and then he just stopped. He said he was honestly just burned out of it.
But I realize looking back now that this game should have included a full blown campaign and solo PVE sandbox. And instead have PVP or more specifically the extraction PVPVE aspect be a core game mode rather than the entire game itself. Even offering some breaks through more casual PVP only modes as an option.
I mean this is basically one reason people loved Destiny 2 they'd grind for weapons in PVE that they wanted and then take them into PVP and in some cases grind weapons in PVP and take them into PVE.
Also why Bungie didn't think to cater to OG Marathon fans of the story for a game that was originally PVE instead of making it heavily PVP focused doesn't make sense now.
With all that said I do think it's possible to evolve it in that direction. But my concern is I don't know if there will be enough time or players to keep it around long enough. It's unfortunate too because a year ago I was expecting both Destiny 2 and Marathon to be able to co-exist and continue to grow and improve but here we are...
What is the art style of marathon?
The art style strike me as unusual and nostalgic while being futuristic at the same time. Anyone knows what it blends together to create this weird vibe?
After 600+ Hours, I just can’t deal with this matchmaking system.
This weekend of cryo was abysmal. My brain thought, if I bring in good gear, maybe it will match me with people who also have good gear and are competent. I lost almost all of my vault because bringing in golds almost always results in two blue team mates or even sometimes someone bringing in a green shield.
I also thought, well if I keep losing, at some point the game will put some decent people on my team. When in reality it would put someone 40 levels below me and 100 levels above me as my team mates. So I was half right on this one.
The amount of times I would have people with no mic and literally were sitting in spawn 5+ minutes into the run was too much to deal with.
I’m good, but I can’t carry my whole team. This game was made for people who have friends they can rely on and I just don’t have that. It’s not fun to lose every match.
I love the way this game feels when I play it, but I’m getting too tilted never being able to exfil anymore unless I’m playing solo.
Removing sponsored survival was a huge mistake. Lowering the loot drops from Outpost red room and prestige lock boxes removed any incentive to play that map or upper complex.
This game has potential, but right now it is not in a good place. I’ll be back when vault breakers comes out. But I guess I just need a break. Bungie, please fix the matchmaking. It sucks for us solo players.
Just logged off because I couldn't find a game
Playing in OCE on a Monday evening. It's also school holidays, so younger people should be online.
I've tried multiple times to queue ranked perimiter, solo dire marsh, and trios. Can't find a game at all.
The queue time/oregano error death spiral will soon be upon us
This game feels so good to play when I am allowed to play it.
I took a (southern hemisphere) winter mental health day today and was hoping I’d get to play a bit of marathon. Three Oregano errors later after 30 minutes of lobby searching and I turned off the game.
Lately, even peak times have been 5+ minutes of searching.
Please give us back the solo chill vibes of sponsored survival and/or just allow us to start with an incomplete lobby in any playlist. The “balance” considerations of these options existing are negligible relative to the impact on the health of the game of literally not being able to play.
New to Marathon and I’m having a blast
I don’t know what I’m doing half the time, I die about 9 times out of 10, I lose 99.9% of the 1v1 fights, Solo feels almost like a horror game so I play safe(r) in trios, I still have no idea how to turn on my torch so I avoid nights map, but man I’m having a blast.
I am only partially aware of the hate towards this game (which I don’t get) and for some reason there seems to be beef between Destiny and Marathon and Arc Raider and Marathon, but I have no idea of the details and it all seems so silly.
Is this game perfect? No, of course not. But it’s still fun. I come from Arc Raiders, and this is only my second ever extraction shooter (does Mass Effect 3 multiplayer count?) and I love it. It’s hard as fuck, but I love it.
I guess this is for everyone asking themselves “is Marathon worth buying?” I say, why not? Learning curve is steep-ish but worth it imho.
I wish this game all the success it can get, and hope to see it running for years to come. Some gamers just need to chill and stop hating for the sake of it.
