What are your favorite things to do in town or within a 30 minute drive?

I’m considering a move to Worcester and I want to get a feel for the place. I do plan to visit so this list will give me some things to check out. Thank you!

Best neighborhood for a rental?

I’m considering relocating and I’m wondering which neighborhoods you would recommend for a 40s female? I’d like to be in a walkable area but also have a little bit of yard space. Also open to neighboring towns. Thanks!

Relocating to be near family

Has anyone regretted moving to be closer to family? I moved away from my family 15 years ago and now I’m considering moving back. I like my family but I’m wondering how the dynamics might shift once I’m back living within 2 hours. The bonus would be that I wouldn’t have to use PTO to see them and could use that time to travel and see other parts of the country/ world. 🌍

Telehealth laws in MA and VA

I am looking for the laws related to Telehealth in Massachusetts and Virginia. I am licensed in both states but reside in North Carolina. Am I able to provide OT services via telehealth to clients residing in either MA or VA?

OT not allowed to do feeding

I came here to vent. Not sure I need advice- I’m just frustrated. I’m a certified neonatal therapist with 15 years of infant feeding experience. I’m looking for a new job and so many hospitals (at least on the east coast) do not allow OT to do infant feeding. It’s so ridiculous. Thanks for listening.

How did you choose where to live?

How did you figure out where “home” would be? What criteria did you use? I’m 46 and still haven’t figured out where my “home” is. It doesn’t help that I have a unique job where there are limited positions in the country. I want to really settle in somewhere that I love. I just don’t know where that is yet.

Where is a hidden gem (street or neighborhood) to live when working in Longwood?

I’m moving from out of state and I’m trying to find a neighborhood with a decent (less than 1 hour) commute to the hospitals on Longwood.
Budget: $2700, maybe $2800 if it includes parking.
Single professional female.
I prefer a little green space since I currently live in suburbia.
I’m consider JP and Roslindale but I’m wondering what places I might be missing.

Mental Health Preparation

I am all for OT providing mental health support for our clients, however, I don’t feel adequately prepared to do so. I graduated in 2009 so maybe things are different now. I learned different theories and approaches but I never learned how to take care of myself. Even if we aren’t working specifically on mental health, our clients can be very emotionally demanding. I am an empath and I find it very difficult to have emotionally charged conversations especially with multiple clients. I work with new mothers so there can be a lot of tears. I don’t think it’s right for AOTA to be pushing mental health when they don’t tell us how to care for ourselves. I’m sure this is something mental health providers like MSW are trained to do in school. Thoughts? Suggestions?
