Side-by-side comparison: Did Chrome construction actually change between 2012 and 2021?

I have two Chrome bags in my collection: one with a date stamp of 11/20/12, and another one from 2021.
There is a lot of talk online about Chrome transitioning to lighter materials or changing their build quality over the years, but holding these two side-by-side, the construction and weight honestly feel pretty identical to me. They both have that classic, rugged feel.
For the gear heads and Chrome historians here:
Did Chrome actually alter the core 1050D nylon shell or the thickness of the truck-tarp liner between 2010 and 2021?
Or did the major weight-shedding and material redesigns only happen much more recently (like the 2024 overhaul)?
Would love to hear if anyone knows the exact timeline of when the standard builds actually started feeling different, or if anyone else has compared these two eras!

1971 Rolex GMT...Great Margarita Time

No emails.
No meetings.
No ambitions.
Just a faded Pepsi, a shitty marg, and a reminder that not everything needs to be optimized. Classic never goes out of style.

Am I being ridiculous for wanting a 16750 because of Magnum P.I.?

Hey everyone..

This is probably a weird one... I currently own a 1675 and absolutely love it... it's my favorite watch and I have no plans to sell it. A big part of why I bought it wasn't because I was chasing the best GMT reference but because I was always obsessed with 80s and 90s nostalgia. Growing up I love watching Magnum PI and the red and blue GMT has always been tied to that image.

I know the 1675 isn't really an 80s watch But when I bought it, it really scratched that Magnum PI itch for me.

Then after I got it, someone pointed out that Magnum PI actually wore a 16750, not a 1675. That didn't ruin my enjoyment of the watch or anything but ever since then I found myself casually keeping an eye out for a nice 1675

Well... I recently came across what seems to be a really good full set 16750 and I actually have the opportunity to buy it..

The funny thing is if I do that my entire watch collection would be a 1675 Pepsi, 16750 Pepsi, and an Apple Watch

That's it.

A part of me feels ridiculous because they're so similar. Another part of me thinks who cares... these are literally the two GMT references that I love most and this one specifically is a transitional.

Is it silly to buy a 16750 largely because it's the reference associated with Magnum PI even though I already own us 1675? Where is collecting supposed to be personal? Watch connects to a piece of nostalgia that means something to me, that's enough?

Interested to hear some honest opinions from people who been down similar rabbit holes.

[Rolex GMT] 7836 vs 78360 on a 1971 GMT 1675?

Need some opinions from the vintage Rolex crowd.

I have a 1971 GMT 1675 Pepsi and ive been thinking about switching from my Jubilee over to an Oyster bracelet. I keep going back and forth between a 7836 and a 78360.

The 7836 feels more “correct” for the era and I love the lightweight vintage feel, but the 78360 just seems way more practical for daily wear.

For those who’ve had both on a 1675, which one did you end up preferring?
