Gift for new moms

I have a family member that just gave birth about two weeks ago. I will be seeing her for the first time next week and I really want to get a gift for her and the baby.

What is a good gift to give to new moms? Usually everyone focuses on the baby so I want to give her something that will make her feel seen, relaxed, or helpful.

Thanks!

Tips for a beginner with oily skin

Hi everyone,

This might be long so please bear with me lol

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to applying makeup. I’ve always liked makeup but I just never cared to put in the time or money into learning. I’m now 27 and I feel like I should know how to do the basics.

My skin is extremely oily and I also sweat easily. I did my makeup for the first time yesterday before going out and I feel like it looked pretty good for my first time. I’m always watching tutorials so I have an idea on how to do it. After a few hours, the makeup started to look really oily which really bothered me bc I really like a matte, blurred look.

I realized my mistake was probably having the wrong primer, setting spray and not adding powder correctly. I have the Milk Hydro Grip primer. I have a Sephora brand setting spray. I have the Black Radiance pressed powder and the Elf HD powder. These are products I’ve had for years but never used. I plan on getting the O/S setting spray.

After doing research, I’ve decided to get the Denessa Myricks burring balm or the O/S primer.
For the DM blurring balm, is it better to get the clear one or the one that matches my skin tone? I’m also still a little confused as it if this acts as a primer and a foundation? I prefer using a skin tint rather than a foundation. I currently have the rare beauty and Kylie skin tint.

I’m also confused on how to use the pressed powder vs the loose powder. What is the difference? Do you have any recommendations on powders I should buy or am I okay to keep the ones I already have? Is it better to apply with a brush or a sponge?

I want to mention that I don’t like the look of heavy makeup on myself. I really love the light makeup/no-makeup look. I want to master a quick routine that won’t take too much of my time.

Lastly, any brush set recommendations?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can give me helpful tips and suggestions!

iPad or MacBook for School?

My program is starting in the fall and I’m stuck between choosing an iPad or a MacBook for school. I’m looking to upgrade from my current MacBook Air, which is extremely slow and old.

I’m a bit older, so I’m typically used to using pen and paper when it comes to taking notes. I still plan on using pen and paper, but I know that having a device will be extremely useful, especially because we are most likely to be using e-books.

Would you suggest that I get an iPad or the MacBook?

Thanks!

Swissport Hiring Event

Hi everyone,

I was invited to attend a hiring event with Swissport after applying to be a ramp agent. I’ve never been to a hiring event and I’m really nervous because I really need a job. What should I expect out of this? What questions will they ask me?

Thanks!

Is a clinical bag necessary for my program?

Hi everyone,

I’m starting school in the fall and I’m in the process of buying school/clinical supplies. Most videos that I watch of essentials mentions a clinical bag, but I’m wondering if having a bag specifically for clinical is necessary or if I would be okay with just using my regular backpack for class. Thanks!

Foundations Dupe?

Any recommendations of sweat sets from other brands that are closely similar to foundations?

I stopped buying from Oner a while ago because of how expensive they are and I recently purchased a Foundations All Season set for $111 but the price that I paid is not sitting well with me and I might return it

I truly love this brand and I have yet to find a sweat set that fits and is as comfortable as Oner

I’m hoping to find any recommendation for other brands that have a similar style and fit

Thanks!

I currently live in Massachusetts and I’m about to start my rad tech program. A few months after I graduate, I plan on moving to Texas to be with my long distance boyfriend.

I am trying to compare the pay difference between MA and TX. In MA (specifically the Boston area), I am seeing pay that ranges from $30-$45/hr with a sign on bonus from $15k-$20k but whenever I search for jobs in TX (mostly Austin to San Antonio), the pay is never listed on the job listing. I know that in general, the pay range in TX will be lower than MA, but I’m still curious as to what I should expect.

Is there anyone here from TX that is open to sharing their salary as a rad tech? Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I’m a new runner. I started running in January and run about twice a week. I have flat feet and overpronated ankles. I went to Marathon Sports to get my feet scanned and the person recommended that I buy the Hoka Arahi 7. Since I’m new to this, I wasn’t really sure what to look for in a good shoe so I followed his advice and have been using these shoes ever since.

When I first started running, I would get really bad shin splints to the point where I had to take a few weeks off. Once I started running again, there would be some mornings where I would wake up to a really stiff foot. The stiffness eventually went away once I started to walk around but my first few steps of the day would basically be limping. I ended up buying insoles for overpronation and the issue went away.

As time went on, I started focusing a lot more on my running form and a lot has improved… except for the shin splints. Some days are better than others. For some runs, I’ll feel my shins the entire time. For other runs, I’ll only feel it in the beginning and it will go away. I always stretch before and after my runs. I also started adding tibialis raises to finish off my leg days at the gym.

I’m starting to think that the shoes may be the issue and I’m considering getting new ones but there are so many options and I’m not sure which shoes to try. Looking for any advice for great shoes for flat feet. Thanks!
