Recently got hired at Unifi

Looking for some clarification before I go back to work. I’m working at Unifi to get some experience in the airline industry. In my training, I could’ve sworn we were told we can ZED on certain airlines like UA, F9, and maybe AS and HA. However, my husband who works mainline was adamant that Unifi does not get to ZED.

Is this true?

Can we PLEASE stop bulking out the back sections in the 321neo?

This is so unnecessary. The amount of times I go to download pit 3 or 4 with 40 bags in a 321neo and the back of the pit is bulked out is so dumb. Just pit your 40 bags in the front of the pit, stop bulking out the back net. Making me go through extra netting for no reason. Looking at you LAX

What's an average day at your airport station as a ramp agent? (total turns/avg bag count per flight)

How many turns a shift do you meaning 1 inbound + 1 outbound?

How many bags on those flights do you usually get?

What shift are you? (Mornings, Afternoon, Nights, Overnights)

Is your station overstaffed/understaffed?

Does anyone ever receive gifts from pax, being the gate agent? Or only the flight attendants get all the glory ?

Attention all gate agents! Does it not infuriate you to no end when passengers shamelessly hand out gift cards, snacks, and presents to the flight attendants—while you, the one actually busting your behind, are left empty-handed? It’s downright aggravating! Us as gate agents are slogging through the chaos, trying to coordinate the manifest on those passengers’ flights—yet somehow, no one thinks to acknowledge our hard work! And let’s not forget, after five or more gates in a single stretch with ZERO breaks, with not a moment to jot down notes because the next plane is already rolling onto the taxiway—do they even care? I consider myself a remarkably patient and kind gate agent, but honestly, it’s maddening that I never, ever get a single gift from the passengers. Anyone else experiencing this frustration ? Or is it just me lol

new (ish) bagroom agent, is this normal?

is it normal to label pineapples on the bag tag? are they corrosive? my company is contracted with alaska and i've only seen bag tags with labels like "mobility aid" and "car seat" so when this came down my belt i got a good chuckle. they don't even label the fish like this, just slap a frozen sticker on it and call it a day. what is so important about pineapples that it needs its own label 😭

DEN UNITED RAMP AGENTS

I see yall are hiring, I’d be coming from American on the east coast with 7 years experience.

Am I giving up a job that currently gives me endless freedom for a dog shit night schedule and zero ability to trade/stack shifts?

If anyone would dm me currently working there I’d appreciate it. I just want the run down.

JetBlue Ground Operations Crew Hiring Process (JFK)

Yesterday I applied to the position of Ground Operations Crew for JetBlue. Today they sent me a virtual interview and assessment and I completed it. How long does it take for them to get back to you after this?

I didn’t learn from my mistake

i f* cked up big time.

I applied for this job back in April. It was a really long waiting period, but it was cool because it’s my first job and I don’t have bills to pay yet. I was finally supposed to start a three day job training on Wednesday, July 1st.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it on Wednesday because I had a community college appointment and I told him a day before that i wouldn't come back in time. To make matters worse, I couldn't even get that appointment done because I lost my wallet and they required my ID.

Today is Thursday. I left the house extra early to make sure I wasn't late for training. I was actually the first person there and was just chilling until it was time to start. Then, my trainer asked if I had my badge and my ID on me. I had the badge, but I realized I left my ID in mycar that was parked some where far. Because of that, he told me I couldn't go with the group.

I asked him if I could come back tomorrow, but he told me he was off on Friday. it’s confusing because i remember him mentioning one time that he has Saturday and Sunday off.  He said he would give me a call sometime next week, . I had to do the walk of shame all the way back to my car. Now people are telling me that I’m probably about to get dropped. Should I wait for his call, or should I just start applying for another job?

First time as ramp!

I've been desperately trying to get out of my current retail job and just got hired as a ramp agent at AGI. Ofc a job is a job and I keep my guard up for any corp to end up being shitty in the end. I was excited but now I'm kinda like ehh hearing AGI is awful for most 😭 I did apply for Delta's ramp but havent heard anything yet and AGI got to me first lol

How bad is it if you are 5 minutes late for your shift as a new hire?

Always been early clocking in. First time being late and still on probation. Wondering how bad that is 😬.

How can I report a safety violation

Hi, I work at the BOS airport, and there is a person I work with who is a driver on the ramp and that person.

He doesn’t respect the stop signs, drives like crazy, doesn’t check if planes are coming when driving or not and drives with excessive speed on the ramp.

Whenever I’m with him I’ve told him to be careful but he doesn’t care, he just tells me not to tell him how to do his job, I’ve also talked to managers but according to them they don’t “have evidence” to do something. However, at the airport there are cameras and I would like to go directly to some aviation department so they take action on the matter, I prefer to be the “bad coworker” than to have a bigger situation or even worse, cause an accident.

If anyone knows any email or place where I can make a report, please let me know.

Career path

Spent 10 years in the Air Force loading and unloading planes and loading cargo and supervising the unloading and loading of aircraft’s military and commercial planes, baggage’s bins, stair case trucks pallet loaders etc, marshaling aircraft etc don’t love the job I Do now, and want to get back into airport ground ops and being on the ramp. Ramp agent would be great but the pay isn’t great for years unless I know some of yall work a lot of OT. What do you think would be a good fit for me with my experience? Menzies has some openings near me but for 18$ an hour with my experience wouldn’t be the move, I know the main lines start out better but are there other roles that you deem fit for me based on what you see in the ramp , any of you have any bias toward former military guys working with you? Obviously I wouldn’t be like I’m better than you, because the civilian and military site has its differences, but I do bring a lot of experience.

Almost 3 months in for probation and I want to quit :(

They called a supervisor on me in product sort and the leads that had switched out with the ones I was working earlier tried to throw me under the bus and make it seem like it was my fault for not leaving an hour early to drop carts at the gate. The funny thing I did take two carts of PHX, a last minute bag, while also waiting for tons of pushbacks that day. I basically had to explain everything to the supervisor even though I was super flustered and he couldn’t tell in my tone, there were 2 flights, PHX and a SYR that were late as PHX had more stuff when I had got back to PS bagroom. The supervisor took my employee number down btw I work for united.

How much scheduling flexibility do Part-Time United Ramp Agents at IAD get?

How exactly does being part-time with UA work at IAD? Is there a minimum number of hours you have to work every month? How many shifts can you give away and how hard is it to give away shifts? What is the schedule like, can you set up your schedule so that you have 2 weeks on/2 weeks off? Obviously this would all be after probation is over. I’ve read that for scheduling flexibility Southwest is the best airline in that regard, how does PT Ramp at UA compare?
I’d really appreciate any and all input, thank you! 😊

Good job to have while studying in college?

Hi everyone!

I'm 25. I currently work as a fuel farm operator at a major airport. While I like it and the pay is good, it's stressful and I don't have the sufficient time needed to attend school full time (4-5 classes per semester). I saw that an airline has a part time ramp position opening (not with swissport/dnata etc, directly WITH the airline) and was looking to apply.

Is this a good job for a college student who wants to take more classes and who also loves to travel? I'm not tight on money as I thankfully live with parents and don't have big expenses. I only have my car. What do you guys do on a daily basis, do part timers have the same benefits as full time, and what are they strict on? Any insight would be appreciated.

Rampers at SEA

Anyone know why the McGhee rampers take forever to bring a plane in? I literally watched a plane wait for 10 minutes to park while there is no one at the gate. And what goes on in their huddle before they check the tarmac?

I’m not bashing, just curious.

Delta ONT count your days

First week of OJT. Most unloads have been nice and smooth. However I just unloaded a 200 from ONT, I could barely get the net off the door because every bag was facing wheels out sticking through the netting. The bin was so overloaded I couldn’t even get in without pulling out 5 bags to make a small foot space and finally use the belt loader to get the rest. Finally, the stacking was horrendous, wheels out and stacked to the ceiling.

Forgive my whining, this has been the best job of my life so far and I’m excited to be here but I’m seriously bitter about this offload.
