i thought we only get to zed business on AS and B6?

i started only 2 months ago with american airlines but from what i was told after we get access to zed in 6 months and 2 days of being here, we can list for zed on many airlines but they are all coach or economy except for jetblue and alaska. i had a coworker log on to their account and they were able to pull up a business class fare from clt to auh with etihad airways. idk if they could list bc we didn’t try but it showed the price of $341 which sounds right. if we can only list for business on AS and B6 then how come they were able to pull up a flight with EY on business? or would it have not allowed them the moment they tried to actually create the listing? anyone here personally travel on business using zed with other airlines other than jetblue and Alaska?

am i an atm?

do somali women believe in double income homes? from what i seen in this sub a majority of women think a man will be the provider and pay for every single thing while they get to live their fantasy of a princess. do you actually believe that or is it more of a dream?

i don’t want children so i think 80k is feasible but there is no way a couple with kids are surviving off of one income of 80k. how are couples who are currently married surviving with a single income?

how do you expect a man who earns 80k/yr in my case to pay for everything and still be able to enjoy life? after taxes and living costs and costs of children and maintaining them, there’s not much left. then i’m expected to use the remainder on my wife and kids for things they want? what about me and my wants and needs?

what’s the point of marriage for a man who doesn’t want kids? if all the women are expecting him to pay for it all? why would i enter a marriage where i have to use all of my disposable income for a woman who can change on me anytime when i can live comfortably either on my own or with family? marriage doesn’t seem like a good idea these days. am i wrong?

there is no way couples are surviving off of one income

how are couples with children surviving with a single income in the west? i’m not talking about someone with a minimum wage job but someone with a career even. in my career path the average is at 80k a year and in my case this is true. 80k doesn’t seem like a lot but that is a decent amount for someone like me with no kids and no big responsibilities.

i have my expenses and i’m able to save a decent chunk monthly. but i imagined myself married with kids. i would then be in the negatives with all the expenses needed to maintain a family. there would be no holidays, no eating out a lot, no fun activities, and barely an emergency fund. so how are couples who already have kids surviving off a single income? do you just live less comfortably? are you in debt?

and one more thing. i believe unless you are making 150k+ a year it has to be a dual income home. but a lot of the marriage requirements in this sub, women are expecting the man to carry the entire financial load while she doesn’t contribute a penny. how are men suppose to get married in this economy and be expected to be used like an ATM? marriage just seems to get harder and harder as the time goes on.

give up!!

whatever goals you’re tying to achieve, that new business you want to start, that new career you want to get into, traveling, wtv it may be, just give up. don’t try to push yourself harder. we all won’t make it in this life. you’re not gonna be shi in this life. just accept it. somalia will never unify. we will never be developed either. give up on this country give up on the people and most importantly give up on yourself.

Should i be a gate agent?

couldn’t find a gate agent or even customer service sub so i’m asking her.

should i make the move to CSA from CAR?

i am a CAR at a small station. i just help people print boarding passes and bag tags at the self serve kiosks and scan and drop the bags on the belt. i started about a month and half ago. My manager was telling me about an opening for a gate agent or CSA and that i should apply for it. Should I?

some things about me:

* this is my first actual front facing customer service job
* more money doesn't mean anything to me. its about the work/life balance and stress levels. i worked security previously and its a very easy low stress job.
* i got this job with american to lower my costs of traveling and to reach my goal of traveling to every country in the world much faster. so i would like the position where it would allow me to travel much more easily and frequently.

so my main two concerns about switching over although its better pay are 1- wont be able to travel much more frequently because given the fact its a high stress job no one will pick up shifts that i drop and 2- its a high stress job and i will mess up easily and probably get fired if i make mistakes.

id rather keep my job as a CAR and be able to travel then risk my job by going to a CSA. its almost impossible to make huge mistakes as a CAR because of how simple it is. but as a CSA, a big concern i heard was the jet bridge. my airport has some bouncy and jittery ones. you hit a plane that's immediate termination. also there is so much to do from what i see. idk if i can handle all these responsibilities.

what goes thru the mind of someone who defends zina?

i was on another subreddit and seriously don’t understand how can someone defend zina? i have one idea but i don’t accuse people of such things.

there’s only two sides to this. you either believe someone has truly repented from zina and has the right to withhold such information from their spouse or potentials. or you either believe someone could have repented from zina but that information can’t be hidden from a potential or spouse if they ask about it or list it as a dealbreaker. which one are you?

how can someone be a defender of zina? imagine you have that as your dealbreaker and they lied to you for 12 years and 3 kids later because they believed that they didn’t have to tell you. how would you feel?

and the ones who defend it can you explain why? i truly want to understand your thought process behind that.

is wacaalnimo being normalized?

my somali isn’t fluent but from what ik wacaal (وعل) means bastard or kid born out of wedlock. in my city i recently heard of 5 ppl i use to know of that are having/ had these bastards. first thing i said was since when were they married? their response was they aren’t. i’m the only one shocked by this? since when did our people start having kids out of wedlock? i understand zina is abundant these days subhanAllah but having a wacaal is even more heinous.

why are our people trying to be like the maathows and have baby mamas and baby daddies? one of them has 4 kids by 4 different women. people are just crazy. another somali girl has a wacaal and everybody is showing support like the kid is a prodigy. how tf isn’t she disowned by her family?

i feel so bad for my friend and his dad. all his daughters (and all of the sisters of my friend) have a wacaal by a mathow. the dad doesn’t speak to them but the mom is in their lives and she even lives with one of them and babysits and stuff. the hooyo is so miskeen but the children…. ik he’s wondering where in life he went wrong.

a couple of months ago i was at a family member’s house and yk how older somali people are. they kept asking me about marriage and kids and yada yada. i said im good off that. i dont ever want kids and im not ready for marriage rn. she then proceeded to compare me to one of the wacaal’s parents and said i should be like him. i said like what? she said have kids and be a dad. i was laughing at my haabiyar like she told the funniest joke known to man. there’s no way she tried to tell me to have a wacaal. she didn’t even seem fazed by the fact he’s unmarried. and then tried to tell me his life is better because he has a kid while i’m single and childless. the dude has a bastard. that isn’t even a flex.

since when was this normalized? even an older generation aunt/uncle didn’t even seem to care. she proceeded to show me pics of the kid. all i could say was aww it’s adorable but in my head all i could think of was that kid is a wacaal and didn’t ask to be one. miskeen.

do you actually enjoy life?

i hate being alive. wallahi i’m not depressed. i get these thoughts here and there. i’m just being honest. life itself feels like a burden. we were born and placed on this earth into a system we didn’t ask to be put in. you gotta work a job that barely pays you or make money somehow for the rest of your life just to survive. if not you’ll end up homeless. the birds don’t work for the sky so that they can fly, the fish don’t work for the sea so that they can swim and the trees don’t work for the ground so that they can grow but us humans are forced to work for other humans just to survive.

there’s no second chances for nobody in life. everything is expensive. you gotta work 3x as hard just to live a regular life. don’t tell me to make more money. if it was that easy nobody would be poor.

it’s even harder as a man too. nobody is gonna save you. women at least have to be provided for by their father and then their husband when they get married. just for me to get married i have to be a provider and spend all my hard earned money on a woman just to get sex. what else am i getting out of a marriage? why am i paying for love? seems like prostitution in a way but that’s another talk for another day.

there’s always something to be stressed about everyday you wake up. it’s probably capitalism. you get paid with money that’s taxed. you then spend that money on stuff that’s also taxed. you get taxed when you invest it. you even get taxed when you die. everything we own and use even like our cars and gas and electricity is taxed. like what’s the point? sooner or later we are gonna get charged for the air we breathe. life requires so much maintenance.

i will never have the freedom i sought to reach. there’s so much bad and evil in this world the small moments of happiness are no longer enough of a distraction. the only time i ever feel freedom is when i travel. and now that i think of it was it even really freedom? i had to save up tens thousands of dollars to travel for the couple of years i was doing it. i felt free but i had to pay so much money. but that money doesn’t last forever. back to reality and now im working to save more again in order to chase this temporary happiness while also paying to survive aka paying bills.

nonetheless Alhamdulillah for my life. i’m blessed and doing better than a lot of people. not saying it in an arrogant way but that’s the truth. Alhamdulillah again for what i have but these thoughts come to my mind almost every week. idk what’s wrong with me or if this is normal human thoughts. i’m not even suicidal or depressed.

should’ve listened to you guys 😭

the other day i made a post on here titled “should i contact her”. long story short me and a girl were no contact and i broke it to ask her to see her while im in her city for a day.

she agreed so i thought we were cool. when i called her to ask like a couple days ago we had a 2.5 hr phone convo.

so she picked me up from the metro today and within a few minutes of me talking she was like nah this ain’t it 😭😭. she dropped me off and now ig it’s over over. i won’t contact her again cuz not only were yall right but she made some good points as well.

i applaud her wallahi. she’s mature enough and smart enough to know this was some childish bs. i shouldn’t have contacted her but i listened to the shaytaan. i’m not hurt but i feel a lil ummmfff if that makes sense.

nonetheless the earth is still spinning and my life will continue on. i should have listened to you guys saying don’t even contact her but it is what it is. such a sweet mature girl to know im not the man for her with all the bs i brang to her life. also speaking to her in person specifically this time made me realize i made the right decision to pursue my travels bc i would have resented her had we got married and i slowed down or God forbid ended my travels.

is 20% on the windshield too dark?

my first car i had 5% all around and 35% on the front. i was driving this car for 6 years and had no trouble seeing at night or in the rain or anything. now i got another car and want to do 5% all around or even 0% if the tint shop has that option and 20% on the windshield. A lot of ppl advise against windshield tint but 35% is perfect. not dark or light and i can see amazing. knowing the fact im able to handle 35% , is 20% a drastic difference? would it be too dark for me to see and even others if i let them use my car a few times like my mother? what would you guys suggest?

also my brother told me to get a 5% brow but i think that’s ugly and could block my view or sight sometimes depending on what’s going on. i’d rather it be all the same %. the differences in the tints would bother me for some reason. how do you feel about the brows?

why do people use "intention of marriage" as an excuse?

I'm no perfect human and i sin just like everyone else but i don't understand how people do something haram "love" wise and their excuse is "with the intention of marriage" like its ok.

for example, many people say they talked to the opposite gender and it was for the intention of marriage. but completely disregard the fact they got too emotionally invested. no wali was present either. how does saying "i would like to marry you" once excuse the fact that everything else is haram? i even heard some crazy people say they've dated with the intention of marriage. how does that even make sense? lol

my point is just because you have an intention of marriage it doesn't make all the haram you are doing halal. there is no such thing as talking with the intention of marriage.

how to get the cheapest insurance?

i think insurance is a scam. i don’t want it but it’s required. i want the lowest coverage possible liability only. i’m 23yo and this is my “first” car under my name. i got a 21 camry se from the auction that just had hail damage so the title is salvage and waiting on inspection appointment to get it to prior salvage.

Allstate won’t cover it so anyone know any other insurance companies that will provide insurance at the lowest possible rate? i literally don’t care about the amounts of coverage. i want the least coverage to pay the least amount. progressive quoted me 245/mo which is ridiculous.

let me know if this is a good idea or bad , but after i register the car and all that, im going to transfer the title and car over to my dad as a gift which he shouldn’t pay sales tax on it again and then have my dad put the insurance under his name with me as the additional driver. shouldn’t this significantly lower my costs?

if you’ve been faced with an ultimatum what did you choose?

a few months ago i gave myself an ultimatum. marry this woman i have been very compatible with and we both wanted to really get married or continuing my travel ambitions. i chose continuing my travel and we ended things.

i don’t regret my choice but i think about her still here and there. i asked myself, did i make the wrong choice? i envisioned a married life with her but couldn’t see myself slowing down or nearly ending my travel goals just to get married. the one pro of traveling for me over ruled all the cons of not getting married.

you might say you can still travel and be married but the goal i’m actively working on is traveling to every single country. this isn’t a cheap goal to achieve so being married with someone and having to be a financial provider whilst traveling a lot doesn’t seem to work for me. it would nearly double my costs adding another person. that’s when i gave myself the ultimatum of choosing her or my solo traveling.

has anyone faced an ultimatum before that made you choose between marriage or something else? if so what was it and why did you make that choice?

do you think i made the wrong choice? just want to see the perspective of others on this. thx

what’s the best way to use these credits?

hey. i just got the bofa PRE card. my first 500+ af card. only reason i got it is bc its the only card to come with 4 PP memberships. but it also has some nice credits along with it.

what’s the best way to use these credits? are there some hidden or nice merchants that activate the credit that’s really worth it? for example the lifestyle credit i heard works with lime the scooter and bike company. i travel a lot and that would be very useful. anything like that?

lifestyle credit-$150
airline incidental-$300
