Thrifting

Hey guys can someone tell me if we have a thrift store in Fort Smith?

I need new stuff and I am tired of buying expensive shit. I need things for my new apartment that do the job and aren’t too pricey now

IMG Budgeting For the First Time- NO CREDIT HISTORY

Hello all! I have silently lurked here for a while but I was motivated to make this post for the first time because I saw a post on Instagram where they talked about IMG attendings having 2 types of lawyers review contracts and finally felt seen!

Anyway I am a new resident in FM and it’s still my first week. I’m on a visa so I am not allowed to moonlight AT ALL (regardless of program policies)

My income is 60-65k yearly and I live in a v LCOL area (which is obvious since IMGs fill gaps in underserved rural towns)

I have never lived alone or budgeted myself (like groceries and bills not like educational fees and stuff bcz I did do that to pay for USMLEs) before this to top that off I’m facing a banking and credit system that I’m wholly unfamiliar with. I actually do not even know what kind of electricity bill I will get! I just hope we’re not surprised!

I live in a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment with a roommate (cointern from my country) we pay $1200 in rent that covers most utilities + wifi and electric bill is separate. We have no furniture so at some point I have to buy that

Right now our major issue is a CAR. How much do I save to finance one? How should I ensure I get a good deal?

Secondly, what does an emergency fund look like for a single woman no kids no dependents? What should I save first before splurging on a car? (We really need one bcz we’re in a very small town)

And once the emergency fund is established: can I use things like Roth IRAs? What about stocks? Someone said I will count as a foreign investor and lose money so to only buy shares from UCITIS which is an Irish certificate and they offer no tax if you wanna invest in US stock market.

So many questions I know! But I appreciate all help here and any and all bits are valued! Even if yall start a conversation in threads on how you budgeted in residency will definitely help!

PS: I have no credit history and no SSN (will have soon) and no credit card.

Best Pakistani card for international transactions?

Going to study abroad. What Pakistani card is best if I need to use it in an emergency?

I know the tax is being slashed after July 1st but I’m traveling tomorrow too so if I get hungry at the airport should I use

Bank Al Habib
Meezan
HBL

I do have foreign currency but I wanted everyone’s perspective on this.

ACLS help

So I have an ACLS assessment tomorrow and I’m kinda confused maybe I’m overthinking this

If someone say got 3 shocks and epi was 1 minute ago and now we have a rhythm check and it’s PEA

Do we immediately give epi because the algo has changed

Or

Do we continue compressions wait 4 minutes THEN give the epi???

Idk I’m confused.

Need to find a guy and repay the favor!!!!

Hello good people of Islamabad a man helped me out today outside the diplomatic enclave visa shuttle gate. My aunt got lost and couldn’t pick me and my mobile data SUXKED I couldn’t call Indrive

He dropped me off Serena where she picked me up and waited with me until she came

He was a dude there for a student visa at the Polish embassy.

Tall. Big curly Afro like hair and had sunglasses on. He was heading to Faizabad from there.

I was in pink / green I kinda looked like strawberry matcha lol.

I was so confused (I’m not a local!) I forgot to ask his name. Would love if this reached him somehow so I can properly thank him!!!!

Thank you good citizens of Islamabad! Yall have been too kind since I’ve got here.

It’s my first time in the capital and I’m flooooored by how adorable everyone is.

J1 physician emergency request

Hey I’m a J1 applicant applying from Pakistan and my emergency request wa refused.

It says “Mod Rejected” however everyone else from my program was approved for an emergency request (there’s 5 Pakistanis in my program EVERYONE was approved except me)

I used all the same materials, documents, letters, and even the exact text the program told us to copy and paste into the box.

I still can apply again but I’m so scared for a second rejection with NO reasons provided that I’m hesitating.

What more can I do??? My program starts 17th June I know I can’t go on time but I’d like to read before 1st July anyway!!!!

Please help.

I failed ACLS and I need feedback

I’m an incoming resident in FM and I was v excited to start. Until I failed ACLS the first time because they placed a monitor behind my back and I had to turn around and check it. Also I feel my team was too fast and dint give enough time for pulse checks. Like I got v stressed out and confused and didn’t know when we checked rhythm and pulse and I think at one point I did it after the shock. Though out the practice sessions too I could t pick when they were doing rhythm analysis and pulse checks

Another thing I memorized epi 4 minutes and amio after 3rd or 5th shock. I didn’t realized amiodorone doesn’t have a timer. I guess I was in a hurry or I just didn’t notice? Since the day felt like we went by the practice way too fast. I kept blanking out as team lead too.

Then the instructor would give audio cues like mid cpr she would say ‘ok you check now and see the rhythm is this’ and press a button to change rhythm. I thought she’d give me a vocal cue in the test too bcz the monitor was BEHIND ME. But she didn’t so I got confused if the rhythm has changed now or not and accidentally shocked PEA. I didn’t wanna shock PEA I KNOW we don’t shock it so that’s where I failed. I also feel the person on the defib shocked before I said so. And yeah I was late giving amiodarone anyway.

I did it again today bcz they told me THIS MORNING to show up and I haven’t slept all night bcz of some other problems with onboarding docs and I had to stay up emailing my PC back and forth (I’m not in US rn and running on a diff timezone) so I showed up within 20 mins of their call to redo it bcz I don’t have time to delay and this time shit went nuts.

They gave me SVT with sinus pauses, no monitor or rhythm strip just the defib screen to pick rhythms. I also had multiple slips of tongues like 5 inches of cpr instead of 5 cm (in my head I thought I was saying cm) and then again missed amiodarone not because I don’t know but because I swear I counted TWO shocks not 3!!! Idk if it was my brain playing tricks on me or not

I feel exhausted and tired. I tried everything to make this work. Hope is not lost bcz I can still redo it again on the 18th but I’m very confused. I’m a learner who learns by practically doing and need feedback for each step but I feel I didn’t get it. I know I’m not stupid but I’ve NEVER run a code before!!! I really struggled with putting the pieces together but SVT with sinus pauses I have never diagnosed without a proper 12 lead EKG or at least a rhythm strip…… I couldn’t tell on a monitor with a tiny reading that it’s a sinus pause….

Please tell me I’m not gonna be a horrible resident. I want to cry but I’m holding it together telling myself I do not suck as a doctor I just need to study and this wasn’t a real patient but I’m so so worried now. I do not struggle with catching rhythms it was just…. Such a tiny screen….

First in my bloodline to see beef and drama on this subreddit

Yall making me think of the old days of school life when those confession pages went viral and people started bashing someone and then praising the other putting everyone against each other

Lmaoooo I cannot believe this behavior has persisted into the 20s.

Whatever I’m funemployed so keep it going I’m enjoying this 🍿🍿🍿🍿
