Budgeting Headcount and role listed as discretionary

I’m reviewing a workforce model for IT and the Innovation Function with an Innovation manager and an additional engineer (new role) have a note that says discretionary.

What does this mean or how is that used in planning?

California nightmare- years later Cali has frozen all my bank accounts as they “re-assessed” my taxes from when I was in graduate school years ago requesting over $7k in “back taxes.” Can’t get through to calls, it’s criminal extortion. And my accounts are frozen? This is why people are fleeing.

There’s no recourse: they freeze and demand or just take money, be very careful spending any time in California.

I was literally a student who just used tax qualified money for school and now I’m dealing with this.

No issues with the IRS. I’ve never had a state suddenly decide years later I owe them money?

California FTB put a hold on my investment account for taxes from when I was in grad school years ago — and I can’t even get through to them by phone. What do I do?

I lived in California during grad school and initially didn’t have tax but apparently years later I actually owe what is now thousands (given all their fees and interest etc). I don’t live there and can’t get ahold of their tax board phone #? They put a hold on an investment account which is why I even knew about this.

Innovation role that is unbudgeted- thoughts?

Looking at a role and trying to understand what this means. Basically someone wanted it so it was created but then they want “value proven quickly” and it wasn’t initially budgeted for

I’m lost on what to even do?

I have no idea how to make my sibling respect my parents home and get care.

-My sibling is late 30s with schizoaffective depressive disorder.

-Lives with my parents and will not bathe, will not wash his clothes, room is foul (dirty, no bed sheets, old food), will not take off his shoes inside the house which tracks mud onto my parents carpet (him wearing his shoes indoors constantly ruined the previous carpet and now they have to get new carpet).

-He refuses healthcare and treatment unless my parents basically force him.

-He has a part time job. He often quits his full time ones / gets fired for things like cleanliness, etc.

-Discussing treatment, cleanliness etc. results in extreme anger and outbursts which can become abusive.

-Completely socially withdrawn

At this point what do you do? My parents are in their late 60s/70s. I moved home because it’s become so bad and I noticed the level of self neglect and was extremely concerned for both my parents who seem unable to handle this and my sibling.

ClearChoice lifetime warranty and Aspen Dental (parent company) bankruptcy/financial distress

What happens to lifetime warranties if the company is bankrupt? Essentially worthless?

Which PE-backed rollups are most vulnerable 2027-2028 to equity failure? Aspen dental?

Curious where people see the biggest distress as debt from the 2020–2022 low-rate era matures and how this all shakes out? Who wins and loses? Already seeing more cracks as rollups (ie Aspen Dental) are having re-financing trouble / ebitda unable to outrun their debt.

In a higher-rate refinancing environment, who and what actually breaks first?
Interest burden?
Slowing same-store growth?
Labor costs?
Brand deterioration?
Failure to achieve integration synergies?
Lack of operational sophistication?
Governance issues?
All of the above?

Who are the winners and losers?
Which failing rollups turnaround and succeed… and more interestingly, why?

New to this. ClearChoice? Others?

New to this: ClearChoice? Others?

I’m looking into All-on-4 options for my mom. For anyone who has been through a ClearChoice consult or treatment process, how did it go and what stood out to you most about the experience?

Also curious how people compared ClearChoice versus other options? In a major metro so it seems there’s quite a few?

Sniffles weird hookup

So this good looking guy chatted me up on sniffies. Said he was with a friend. Both tops looking to rail a 3rd. He said he’s with his friend. His friend is much less goodlooking but huge d. both are talking to me and they want to come over.

So they said they want to stagger it. First the one less goodlooking friend and then the other likes being a second. The less goodlooking one also says he’ll pay which i wasn’t even asking for.

So the first guy comes up. Hour passes and we hookup. Then he heads down asking “still ok with my friend?” I guess the friend is visiting from Miami and he “flew him up”.

Anyway the 2nd one never shows lol

Is this some weird bate and switch where the less attractive one uses 2 accounts to get better looking guys/hit out of his league?

It was super weird in retrospect.

Chicago real estate (residential) & businesses - what’s the long term outcome of the pension issue?

I’m trying to understand how firms are thinking about this. There doesn’t seem to be a precedent for a large diversified municipality with constitutionally protected underfunded massive pension obligations mandated to be funded by 2050 leading to very high rates of property tax inflation all while the Loop core commercial real estate tax revenue cools.
