Last-minute help in Mahé — looking to rent or buy 10wt & 12wt saltwater fly reels before tomorrow evening

Hi everyone — I’m hoping someone in the Seychelles fishing community might be able to point me in the right direction.

I’m currently on Mahé and leave for Platte Island tomorrow evening. I brought my 10wt and 12wt fly rods, flies, leaders, tippet and the rest of my gear, but unfortunately I realized that the reels I had prepared and loaded with backing and fly line were left behind at home.

I know this is very last minute, but I’m trying to see whether there is anywhere on Mahé where I could rent or purchase suitable saltwater fly reels and lines before we leave.

What I’m looking for is roughly:

* 10wt setup — saltwater reel, backing and tropical floating line for permit, triggerfish and bonefish

* 12wt setup — strong saltwater/GT reel, plenty of backing and tropical floating line for giant trevally

I’m very happy to buy the equipment outright, and used equipment would be completely fine as well.

Just to clarify one thing because I know Platte normally has a very good fly-fishing operation: I’ve confirmed directly with the resort that Blue Safari is not operating on Platte during my dates and there will not be fly-fishing rental equipment available there. I’ll be fishing DIY, so unfortunately I can’t wait until I reach the island to sort this out.

I’m also not looking for an offshore/deep-sea charter — I’m specifically trying to replace the missing saltwater fly reels, backing and fly lines.

If anyone knows a tackle shop, guide, outfitter, charter captain, lodge, or local angler on Mahé who may have appropriate gear available to rent or sell, I would be extremely grateful for a lead or introduction.

I can travel anywhere on Mahé tomorrow morning to pick it up.

Thank you very much for any help or local knowledge — I really appreciate it.

Spoiler / NSFW: Graphic PTSD reaction during *The Odyssey*

CW: Graphic discussion of decapitation and PTSD.

I’ve been a firefighter for 10 years. After watching a little girl get decapitated in front of me, I’ve really struggled with “head” scenes in movies. It is difficult whenever I see something involving a head in a movie. I have a difficult time even when people get hit in the head.

I’ve been through a lot of therapy, and I still go once a week, but it is a unique type of hell to have bad dreams where you’re watching children get their heads run over and decapitated over and over again.

I felt like I’d been doing pretty good and was really excited to watch The Odyssey with the rest of the country.

But when the Cyclops picked up a man and bit his head off, it shot lightning through my body. It was an extremely intense reaction. I wasn’t expecting it, even though I kind of knew it would happen. It hit me so hard.

In a way, it bothered me that they went through so much trouble to make it look so realistic and accurate to what someone actually looks like when they’re decapitated. At the same time, I felt bothered and ashamed that I was sitting there watching it as entertainment, even though I knew it was just a classic monster story. It wasn’t anger at the movie or anyone else for enjoying it. It was more this weird internal conflict that I couldn’t stop thinking about.

I jumped out of my seat and ran out of the theater. I’ve never really reacted like that before, but I just had to get away. I couldn’t breathe. I felt so sick. It was like reliving every decapitation I’d ever seen, especially the little girl.

I felt embarrassed that I ran out of a movie in tears. I’m a 30-year-old man. It just kind of makes me sad that I can’t enjoy something like this with so many people saying how good it is.

JCR Roof Support Bracket’s Necessary? for the TrailRax 4Dr Roof Rack

My bronco is in the garage having the roof rack put on and I realized I never ordered recommended JCR off-road off-road rack reinforcements. It’s a four-door and I’m putting on the TrailRax roof rack.

i guess it’s like a 3 week lead time so I’d have to pull it out of the shop.

How necessary are these? Do they decrease noise? The heaviest load I would be putting on is a tent. Most of the time I’m just gonna use two Roam Boxes with some camping gear

TLDR: Acura told me it’s state law to pull credit on an out-of-state cash deal and also required me to finance with their dealership for a minimum of 120 days.**

I intended to purchase an Acura from Acura of Concord, California, from out of state. I had already secured financing with my lender and planned to pay half of the purchase price in cash.

Upon completing the ID verification process, they informed me that I was required to submit a financing application through their financing department. They cited state law in California as the reason for this requirement, and I inquired multiple times to confirm its validity. They assured me that it was indeed a state law in California that mandated the collection of a credit report for the sale of an out-of-state vehicle.

After submitting the financing application, they informed me that they had a policy requiring me to finance through them for the initial 120 days. Subsequently, I could transfer the financing to another lender if desired.

They explained that this policy was implemented to safeguard against potential fraud and ensure that the vehicle is not shipped without full payment. I expressed my willingness to let them retain the vehicle until the full payment was received, but they declined.

Is this practice standard in the industry? While I acknowledge the possibility of fraud, it is concerning that they would have access to the full amount before even considering the purchase of the vehicle.
