Found an 1840 Old Wristbreaker blade at an antique shop for 150…

And reminded itself of its ancient Eurasian heritage.

Forged the guard from a big ol’ nail and the pommel for a broken hammer, peened together with a I think Brazilian cherry handle

Could have restored it, but this one is for me so who cares, people have done worse, just see my profile for the patton saber I found.

A comparison between my first and my 4th knife

Learned to much within these last handful of months, I’m having so much fun despite how much I swear.
Seeing these two in the same room is surreal, thanks to everyone who encouraged me on this subreddit and telling me to keep at it. Maybe one day I may find a mentor to teach me but as of right now I’m all self taught.
Ya know I thought that the banana knife looked good for a bit lol

Working on a sorocaban knife

Making it from an old Atkins silver steel file, good stuff and really fun to work with, I just hope I can heat treat it well.
The design is Brazilian, think it of their version of a Bowie knife.
Thinking about clay hardening it to achieve a hamon line but idk anything about it, if anyone could point me in a direction would appreciate it.
(Ps if anyone has any experience with silver steel let me know if there is anything special with heat treatment:))

Forging a sorocaban knife

Just about to add a heat treat to this, used an old Atkins silver steel mill bastard file, it’s going really well so far.
I want to try something new and try clay hardening to achieve a hamon, but I don’t know the first thing about it and I don’t know if silver steel is viable for such a process.
Any thoughts?

What the flip is this

I couldnt find anything on the patent, couldn’t get the last numbers right,
There isn’t really a bevel or edge it’s just kinda… a tool

Is this a practical blade design?

Don’t show this to vintage tool collectors.
Bought it for 20 bucks and fulfilled a dream I’ve had.
Finna add scales and shit and probably give it a good scrubbn.
Critiquing isn’t allowed

Vet said he won’t get much bigger than this, so I’m sure he’s not a full, be he is a Mal. what could he be mixed with, If at all? He’s like 20 inches at the shoulder give or take.
