Do native Arabic speakers have a hard time understanding Mauritanian Hassaniya and Shuwa Arabic (Chad, Nigeria, Cameroon, etc?

I have a friend from Yemen who says he can’t have a full conversation with someone who speaks Shuwa Arabic unless they switch to Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha). He also told me he didn’t even know Arabic was spoken in countries like Chad or Mauritania.
I know Shuwa Arabic isn’t spoken by the majority of people in Nigeria, Cameroon, or the DRC, but it is spoken in parts of those countries and is widely spoken in Chad.
Have any of you heard Shuwa Arabic or Mauritanian Hassaniya before? If so, how easy or difficult are they for you to understand? Could you hold a conversation, or would you need to switch to Fusha? Also, where are you from?

Am I African American or Chadian American

This has been a small debate for a while. I was talking with a few coworkers who are African American, and we were discussing our experiences growing up. There were some things I couldn’t relate to, and when I explained my background, the convo went left / aka ignorant .
My father is from Chad and my mother is African American. I was born in the United States, spent a few months in Chad years ago, and then came back to the U.S. Because of that, I grew up with influences from both sides of my family.
Some AA’S tell me I’m simply African American because I was born and raised in the U.S. Others say my father’s background makes me Chadian American. I’ve also noticed that when people find out my dad is African, they often assume he’s Nigerian, ( because they think Africa is the country ) and then mock the Nigerian accent though he’s from Chad, which sometimes adds to the confusion.

They assume things about me based on how I look and speak, and when I don’t fit those expectations, they seem
Offended .

Personally, I sometimes feel like I’m somewhere in the middle, but I’m curious how others would view it.

Would you consider me African American, Chadian American, both,
