post office rant
I recently moved to Brookline from Boston and have been running into serious issues with the post office (zip code 02446):
- Informed delivery showed me that a jury duty notice was arriving soon and I didn’t get it until over 3 weeks later
- The mail delivered to my apartment building is constantly being put in the wrong mailbox. I get mail for my apartment unit and for other people’s units all the time. There’s a huge pile of mail in our lobby from other units having the same issue!
- I was charged $36 to mail a medium priority mail box. When I commented on how expensive it was, the clerk said “our prices are always going up.” Later I looked it up and realized the price should’ve been closer to $24. I went back in person the next day with my receipt, and the same clerk completely gaslit me by saying it probably wasn’t a priority mail box. I said it absolutely was because I didn’t have any tape so I made sure to grab the white side loading box that has the adhesive sides. Finally, the clerk admitted that she had forgotten to scan it as a flat rate box which is why I was charged so much. I had to fill out a form and the manager was extremely rude and gave ME attitude because they had to process a refund. No one ever apologized.
- My friend sent me a priority mail package that was out for delivery last wednesday (08/10) but never arrived. There’s no update on the tracking and the only info on the tracking page was the date it left the original post office it departed from.
Are they stealing packages or are they just totally incompetent? I’ve already filed complaints on the USPS website but they didn’t really do anything. Is anyone else having these kinds of issues?? I’ve never had any issues with the post office in the 6 zip codes I’ve lived in before…
