
Extortion Task Force Lays Extortion and Murder-Related Charges Linked to “For Brothers”
Region of Peel – As part of an ongoing investigation into an organized crime group known as “For Brothers,” the Extortion Task Force has charged a male in connection with two violent incidents in Brampton, following assistance and an arrest by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).
On April 21, at approximately 2:50 a.m., a business in Brampton was targeted in a shooting. The suspect fled the scene in a silver Honda Civic. Investigators subsequently recovered 14 shell casings at the scene.
On May 6, at approximately, 8 p.m., a man was exiting his residence when he was approached by an unknown individual. The accused allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim; however, the weapon malfunctioned. The victim was able to escape without injury. The suspect was last seen fleeing in a grey Acura Integra.
On June 23, EPS officers arrested the suspect, 22-year-old Safaldeep Singh following a traffic stop , during which, a quantity of drugs and a loaded illegal firearm were found. He was charged with firearms and drug-related offences. In collaboration with Peel Regional Police, arrangements were made for his return to Ontario on June 26, where he now faces the following additional charges:
· Extortion
· Conspiracy to Commit Murder
He was denied bail and has been remanded into custody.
