Arc fire working in ar57 upper
After a bit of troubleshooting and referring to a post made by someone who did all the hard work for me:
https://www.reddit.com/r/supersafety/s/8nLl2zGmX0
I’m leaving this post as a quick reference and summary for how I got mine to work.
Firstly I had my bolt cut by a machine shop to the specs that seemed to be the standard used for it to work like a normal m16 cut ar bolt.
And lastly I needed to sand down the top flat part of the lever as leaving it as is was causing it to bind when the bolt cycled locking the whole gun and requiring me to remove the grip and detent to pull the safety out of the gun to separate the upper and lower.
If I bought a bear creek 300 win mag rifle and cut down the barrel to about 8in and shortened the gas would it work or just be really unsafe?
I really wanted to try cloning a Nemo arms nitemare and this seems like the most accessible option I’ve found as I can’t find anyone who sells short 300 win mag barrels for a semi auto rifle
I just got my ar57 bolt back from getting cut at adco firearms to use in my arc fire lower and it seemed to reset fin when charging it by hand but when I took it to the range the bolt got stuck on the arc lever right between the upper and the buffer tube when running it on semi.
I couldn’t try it in super cuz I needed to take it home to take it apart with tools but I’m scratching my head at what the problem could be.
If anyone knows what my problem could be or if there is a super safety that is known to work with the 57 upper cut bolts it is appreciated
Edit: it was also doing the same binding with a Hoffman crossbolt style super safety as well
