Just saw what looks like a brand new Quickie GP for sale for $150. Did I hit the jackpot?
Ambulatory and looking into trialing a chair. I have foot dystonia, wanted to ask what y'all would do in my shoes.
Ambulatory and looking into trialing a chair. I have foot dystonia, wanted to ask what y'all would do in my shoes.
Have varying levels of foot dystonia that have caused injury and pretty severe impairment but every doctor I've seen has acted like I'm asking to be put down when I bring up getting a wheelchair. Ideally looking for something like a medical closet in central texas with a secondhand chair or an ebay shop that's known for lower prices until I can get something better and I'm less burnt out by doctors, lol. Will probably try to get a paradox chair next year, just need something to tide me over until them. (Part time use, on sidewalks and inside)
Thought this was an interesting case. It's very new with plenty of characteristics that make it easy to narrow him down, so odds are good it'll be solved. NamUs' filters have me betting on Jordan Dennis or Caleb Mills. They're the only two people from New York that meet the following criteria:
I wish we had pictures for either of them, that'd make this so much easier. Make sure you have pictures or your loved ones, guys! Hope he gets his name back.
Filtered NamUs' database using the following criteria, which gave me 14 matches. Compared those to our featured case, Justin/e, who you can read about here. Here are my thoughts on each match.
KEY: **=Worth investigating, *= possibly worth investigating.
TLDR: I'd look into Harold Clifton Cooper III and Cameron Hardman as potential matches, then Tristan Rivera and Ellis Robinson if those don't pan out. Thoughts welcome!
Bobby Baul:
32 y/o Bobby was last seen in Cleveland, OH on 08/23/2013, ~ 4 years before Justin/e’s death. Weight is almost an exact match. About 2 inches taller than Justin/e. No other known info. No attached photos.
Oliver Bell:
Oliver Bell was last seen walking away from his home in Atlanta, Georgia, on 03/02/2000. 19 y/o. Disappeared 17 years before Justin/e’s death. Height is a match, weight is ~10-20 pounds higher than Justin/e’s. No attached photos :(
Anthony Brown:
21 y/o has not been seen or heard from since Feb. 10, 1999. 2 inches taller than Justin/e, weight is a match. From Mobile, Atlanta. No attached photo.
Harold Clifton Cooper, III*:
Cooper was last seen in the 3600 block of 55th Avenue in Bladenburg, Maryland. Cooper got into a white four-door 1992 Chevrolet Caprice with an acquaintance. Foul play may have been involved in his disappearance.Last seen August 19, 2001, at 20 y/o. Picture attached. Height and weight are similar. Picture attached! They look similar too. Worth investigating.
Demetrius “Skee-boo” Jermain Elder
He was last seen at 1303 Dryden Avenue in Dallas, Texas. Went missing on September 27th, 1997, at 20 years old. About 2 inches taller than Justin/e. Picture attached! 2-3 inches taller than Justin/e. About 15 pounds lighter, but time between the two case doesn’t necessarily rule that out. He does have a tattoo on his right arm, but no tattoos listed on Justin/e.
Cameron Hardman*:
Cameron Hardman left Newlin Ave and went to 4513 Camac Street in Philadelphia Pa to meet some friends. Cameron Hardman has not been seen or heard from since October 31, 2011. Vehicle was recovered at 5234 North 2nd Street in Philadelphia Pa approximately seven (7) blocks from the Camac Street address. Case is still active. Went missing ~6 years before Justin/e’s death. ~1 inch shorter than Justin/e, ~10 pounds lighter. Picture attached! Very blurry, looked somewhat similar. Possible match? Worth investigating.
Philip Modlin:
Phillip was last seen at approximately 8:30 a.m. at his residence in Dayton, OH. Went missing February 17, 2004, at age 26. Had both ears pierced, birthmarks on his neck and back of left thigh, and tattoos on both arms and both calves.Justin/e had only their left ear pierced, no tattoos recorded. Picture attached!
Brandon Mouton
Had just started working in Barataria Bay doing clean-up from the Gulf oil spill. Was staying on a tug boat. Did not know how to swim. Went missing from Grand Isle, Louisiana, on July 22, 2010. 28 y/o when he went missing. 2-3 inches taller than Justin/e. Same weight. Picture attached! Not very similar looking.
Christopher Pollen:
Last Seen in Yulee, Fl on 09/18/2016 at 02:30 hours. Went missing at age 23. Height matches, weighed 10 pounds more than Justin/e. Picture attached! Looks somewhat similar. Photo appears to be in a classroom?
Edwin Theophilis Pritchard :
On 12/12/2009, Edwin Pritchard went boating from Haulover Beach Marina, with a friend, Richard Alicea (also missing - NamUs #MP22111). Their destination was Bimini, Bahamas. They did not arrive in Bimini. Parts of a boat matching their boat's description was found on a small, uninhabited island in the Bahamas. Neither men have been found. Edwin went missing. Tattoo on his right arm. 1-3 inches above Justin/e’s height, >= 8 pounds lighter. I think circumstances make this one very unlikely :( Picture attached, not similar.
Tristan Markey Rivera*:
Rivera was last seen on 8/5/2007 in Irving, Texas. Went missing at 21. Weight estimated 160-200. Height range is 1-4 inches above Justin/e’s. Photo attached, looks somewhat similar. Possibly worth investigating?
Ellis Robinson*:
Ellis was last seen in the area of Pensacola, Florida. Went missing March 22, 2013, at 22 years old. Maybe an inch taller than Justin/e, a few pounds lighter. Photo attached, looks somewhat similar? Possibly worth investigating.
Sidney James Taylor:
Sidney James Taylor was last seen in Austin on April 2, 2016. Went missing at age 35. 2-3 inches taller than Justin/e. ~12 pounds heavier than Justin/e.Several tattoos. Picture attached, not a great match.
Aaron Turner:
Aaron was last seen in Coatesville, Pennsylvania on October 30, 2008. Disappeared at 16 y/o. Hand tattoos. 1-2 inches shorter than Justin/e. Picture attached, not similar (but keep in mind the 8 year interval- a 16 year old’s going to look very different from a 24 year old)
Hi all, first time posting, brand new to the sub and very open to feedback.
Gilberto Rene Gonzalez disappeared from Tucson, Arizona January 20th, 1996. He had recently moved there and lived/worked at a clothing store with his 19 year old coworker. They both disappeared, leaving their car at their apartment complex and their apartment unlocked and seemingly intact.
John Doe was discovered behind a strip mall in Avondale, Arizona. He was found on July 7th, 2007, and estimated to have died one day before.
I went through NamUs' filters and searched for men of a similar height and weight, hair/eye color, that had age and time of last contact matching up. There were a few potential matches, but this one seemed the strongest. The resemblance is pretty striking, and even the distances between the two were plausible. Both found in Arizona, 130 miles apart.
The only things that make me less confident the two are a match are height and a couple of distinctive features- Gilberto's height was recorded as being 2-3 inches taller than John Doe's, and Gilberto had a couple of scars, piercings, and long fingernails where John Doe has no listed distinctive physical features (despite the unusual dental records, which make me more willing to believe the two might be a match. The differences might also be explained by the long interval- 11 years is plenty of time to change your apperance!). That being said, John Doe had some very unusual dental records that weren't seen with Gilberto, but maybe he got work done after he disappeared? Possibly even related to his disappearance (the "foul play" described?)

Hi! What stores on ebay sell chairs/chair parts for reasonable prices? Thanks :)

Trying to keep it under $25, which I know may be a bit of a stretch, lol. His favorite stones are emeralds, opals, pyrite, and amethyst, and he'd want something ethically sourced. I found pieces on etsy and lab grown sites but the prices range so much I'm worried about getting scammed- tips on how to find something like that and/or what you'd want given that criteria (links especially!) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)
My younger sister's fairly severely disabled and moved out recently. Had a couple guys stalking her and trying to take advantage of her. One actually showed up at her workplace and tried to blackmail her into giving him $500. My alcoholic mom found out, screamed at her and took her phone. She tried to grab it back but accidentally scratched my mom (her nails are long) and my mom threatened to call the cops on her.
This is like, the first Big Crisis I haven't had to handle because one of my other siblings is trying to get her resources to make sure she doesn't get taken advantage of, which is awesome. But this shit's insane, even if it doesn't come as a huge surprise anymore. My mom's been an alcoholic for ten years and has become verbally and physically abusive- especially when we were in bad places. I don't know what to call what it's turned her into. I don't remember her well before all this since I was so young when it started, so all I really remember of her is how she is now. I'm seriously considering no contact since this is going downhill and there is no accountability. Will be figuring out if that's necessary with my therapist lmao.
Title is self-explanatory. I'm starting a project to potentially build and teach others how to build Erik Kondo's wheelchair designs. I'm not especially handy, so I figured I'd start by building one chair and testing it myself (which I'm willing to do because I have some medical issues that likely warrant using a chair part time), and I can also use it to evaluate the design. The only problem is getting a chair accurately measured. I don't have a medical professional to measure me, so are there any reliable online resources that show you how to measure yourself correctly? Any walk-in clinics, wheelchair vendors, or other places that would do the measurements?
Planning on taking the MCAT in March or April. Advice on how to study until then? Been working through MileDown's review for psychology for a little while.
Mine was supposed to reset in half an hour but I just got an updated counter saying I don't get any more for a full day? Can I fix this?
It used to be okay- I'm one of the few people (it seems) who didn't hate it when it came out, lol. It wasn't anything special but it was usable. It seems like it's starting to get into overly poetic dialogue when the scene doesn't call for that, which sucks, and sometimes I struggle to tell the difference between that and pipsqueak 2 (which is new). Anyone else notice this or is it just me?
Had foot dystonia for a couple years and (CW for injuries) some of my nails are starting to detach because of the way they make my feet curl with forearm crutches. A lot of them have pitting/pretty serious ridges. Nearly falling on average at least once a day, and I'm pretty sure walking's exacerbating my flares but I hate driving and it's not an option with a lot of my day to day activities. Also noticed calluses forming because of where the weight's distributed which seems like a bad sign, lmao.
People react so badly to chairs though that I feel like no matter what the actual issue is there are people here who are like "If you can walk then do it by any means necessary" and it's like- parts of my body are falling off because I decided to walk to church and lunch after and I don't think that's supposed to happen, lmao. Figured I'd ask for a sanity check- not advice unless you want it, just what other people may have done in similar situations.
I'm seeing a lot of people report bugs, but my experience has been pretty good so far- It's a hell of a lot better than the original. How's it comparing to the other models for you guys?
Hey, y'all. Looks like the domain rights to the websites showing some of Erik kondo's blueprints expired- figured I'd ask here if anyone had them or knew where else to find them. Thanks.
How long do you think we have before the company goes under? I'm guessing a year, max. They might be able to save it, but they'll choose not to, of course...
