Summer writing competition announcement: The finish line is in sight! + Grace period.

Hello writers!

For the last couple of months we have been watching countless of you pour your passion into your entries, way more than we ever could have wished for. (Though not like I'd ever complain about having more fics to enjoy.)

That being said, all good things must come to an end. As of the making of this post there officially only one month remaining for the competition, with us judges sitting down and properly grading each entry. The results should be ready by November first.

That being said, the grading process will take a while. In lieu of that we are implementing a grace period. If by the end of the remaining month you have at least one chapter released, you will be given an extra month to complete your round.

With the finish line in sight, and so many amazing fics being written or already finished, we are sure the competition will be more fierce and fun than ever. Can’t wait to see what you all still have in store!

-Ant, on behalf of the competition judges.

My-th will probobly be some sort of "passed down" title.

In the newest teaser, during the timelapse sequence, we can see a bunch of diffrent hands hold the transformation item as the timelapse goes on.

So to me this means that those are the hands of the people who were My-th in the past, and our protag will be the next in line to get that title.

Flowery is not a Utalitarian, aka what the "Why dont you close the castle town fountain instead?" question actually means.

I have seen a semi-common take on here that Flowery asking the fun gang why they dont close their own dark fountain and let his persist is flawed beacuse other darkners can live in castle town while that isnt the case for the flower shop one.

That statement, while correct, misses the point of what Flowery is trying to say here, I feel.

Flowery is not a Utalitarian, his plan is to essentially sacrifice his own life (as flowers dont live long in darkness) to give Asgore a day or so in "his perfect world", as well as allow him and the other flowers to live their dreams for said day or so. (Yellow wanting to be a cowboy, Green a chef, etc). His argument here isnt about which fountain will provide the best life for the most darkners.

So what is he trying to say?

Well, so far closing dark fountains is framed as objectivly a good thing. The gang are preventing a possible end of the world, and all the darkners who live in said dark world can just be moved to castle town. (Sans Gerson but he is very much at peace with that) This is simplifing it a bit but the point stands I think.

Its both a neccesity and has no real downside.

And then here comes Flowery's proposal, I dont think he was actually pitching it as a solution to the problem, instead he wanted the fun gang to face the fact such an option exists.

Like, yea, you could close the castle town fountain, and the awareness of that (even if its something the charachters would never do) makes closing Flowery's fountain, a choice, not a neccesity like it was framed until now.

They are choosing to end someone's dream to continue their own. Thats what he wanted them to confront.

Jodio's dislike of the word "system".

This part from the most recent chapter caught my eye.

The enemy mentions that Jodio hates the "absurd" and messed up parts of the systems that govern society.

However, the word "system" caught my atention, cause it is something that was brought up before.

In chapter one when Jodio has his monolouge about Mechanisms, "I prefer the word 'mechanism' over 'system'. Beacuse its similar to an ecosystem." To quote the man himself.

Back in chapter one it felt like semantics, but with the words of the enemy stand here it seems like Jodio activly dislikes the concept of systems and thats why he made a distinction between them and his mechanisms.

Those two things are still preaty similar, so aparently Mechanisms being more like ecosystems are what makes all the difference to him.

Alright but how is he so obtuse.

Jodio is both inteligent and perceptive. That includes reading people too from what I remember. Why cant he figure out this one thing?
