Bypassed the Amex blockade- Manual application for the win!

Bypassed the Amex blockade- Manual application for the win!

I actually managed to bypass the Amex freeze. I was desperate to get the Plat Travel so I ended up reaching out to a solid contact at the Gurgaon HQ to see if there was any loophole around the pause

Turns out their backend legacy system can still process manual paper routing conditions to some approvals

Here is how the madness went down:

June 3rd my contact confirmed they could try bypassing the portal and queuing a manual override file through the backend.

June 11 th an agent actually showed up at my office with a physical paper form. I had to hand over physical copies of my pan adhaar salary slips also cancelled cheque of ₹5,900. No DigiLocker, no vKYC.

Asked for my CKYC number though.

June 22nd got a manual verification call from an official Amex gurgaon agent who asked for my office address proof and to mail the salary slips from my office mail ID.

No updates apart from the application number...online tracking page just kept showing an error.

Finally today (July 4) after days of ghosting, I got this!!!!

Rejected by AU Bank despite an 803 CIBIL and Premium Card Portfolio – The "Multiple Enquiries" Trap is Real

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a frustrating rejection story that proves your credit score and premium card portfolio mean absolutely nothing if automated systems catch a whiff of "too many inquiries."

My Profile:

Age: 25

CIBIL Score: 803 (Clean history, zero defaults)

Current Cards: HDFC Regalia Gold, Amex Gold Charge, ICICI Sapphiro, SBI Card ELITE, and Marriott Bonvouy.

Given my existing premium portfolio, I figured adding a mid-tier co-branded card like the AU ixigo for its zero-forex benefits, flight discounts, and lounge access would be a straightforward approval.

The Rejection: After escalating a minor onboarding issue to their senior management, I got the official rejection email today stating:

"Eligibility norms not met - High number of recent credit enquiries exceeds acceptable threshold"

The Backstory: How did a clean 803 CIBIL profile get flagged? A couple of weeks ago, I applied for the HSBC TravelOne card. Their portal glitched out mid-way through the application process.

Surprisingly, that single faulty session triggered four separate hard inquiries on my CIBIL report within 24 hours. Because of that technical glitch, AU Bank's automated system instantly flagged me as a high-risk applicant chasing credit lines, completely ignoring my existing premium history and excellent score. Now I'm barred from re-applying for 6 months.

I needed the zero forex for my trip later next month now I am caught up.

Has anyone had any luck getting a bank to manually override an automated rejection by proving the multiple inquiries were due to another issuer's technical glitch? Or do I just cut my losses and look elsewhere for a 0 forex card?

Let me know your thoughts!

Help Optimizing

Current:

• Tata Neu Infinity (LTF)

• HDFC Swiggy (LTF)

• ICICI Sapphiro Mastercard + Amex (FYF)

• SBI Pulse (mainly for FitPass)

Profile:

• Age: 25

• Salary: ₹1.45L/month

• CIBIL: 780+

Considering:

• HDFC Regalia Gold

• Axis Atlas (pre-approved)

• HSBC Live+

• AU Ixigo

• IDFC First Wealth

Why I'm considering them:

• Regalia Gold for current value and potential HDFC upgrade path.

• Atlas for travel rewards, miles and hotel/airline transfers.

• HSBC Live+ for dining and lifestyle spends.

• AU Ixigo for travel benefits and no-forex transactions.

• IDFC First Wealth as a low-maintenance premium card with decent benefits.

My annual travel spend is typically around ₹2.5–3L including hotels and can go up to \~₹5L in a high-travel year.

Goal is not to collect cards. I'm trying to build a lean 4–5 card setup that covers cashback, travel rewards, lounge access (domestic + international), and long-term value.

At my income, spending pattern and travel spends, what would you prioritize next? Would you go with Atlas, Regalia Gold, or something else entirely? Also, is there any card in my current setup that you'd drop or not renew?
