Do you ever ask them which positions that they are hoping to play? Use any sort of rubric? Etc.

This is my first year coaching 8u. The only position that was easy to fill was center bc we just chose the kid who could yell “huddle” the loudest, pay attention to the cadence and never screw it up, and shotgun snap the ball.

I’m just an AC and struggled to match kids with most of the other positions.

It’s my first season coaching as an assistant on an 8u team. Not sure if it’s in the rules but the HC said that it was somewhere in the rule book.

I’m just curious if others are allowed to pull guards and, if so, how it has worked out for kids that young.

I am a Floridian and long term high school football fan. I remember around 2010 finally getting espnw, which aired all of the old Mater Dei, poly, and other elite teams in Cali, and thinking how cool that it is that they have an open division for a “true” elite state champ.

What do you all think of the inclusion of the Open Division? I think that it’s great for Florida and will be a juggernaut of a tournament.

I coach an 8u team that has 23 players. According to our rules, each kid is required to play at least 12 plays.

It’s hard to keep track and I’m just wondering if anybody has a system or app or anything that helps them to keep track.

I appreciate the rule because I believe that any kid who goes through practice has a right to play.

The one that ends with “humans have learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear is less than one billionth of reality.”

I get that the kids are 7-8 years old and will horse around and play grab ass and talk as much as they possibly can.

How have you been able to limit the horseplay and talk?

We have done the whole up/down and making them run routines.

Sometimes I insert myself into the middle of the biggest talkers and ask “so what are we talking about?” That instantly ruins their conversation most of the time.

I would love you to hear what others have done to get the kids and shut up for, honestly, 30 seconds. I can usually communicate my points in under 30 seconds.

I’m sacrificing my ego with this question and acknowledging that it’s hard for me to get the kids to shut up and pay attention for that long.

Did anybody else notice that the longhorn in Beula’s office was in tact in the final episode? I thought that Carter had stolen and broken it in his drunken stupor.

Seems like mostly all tv series in modern times have 8 or 10 episodes per season.

I finished episode 9 last night and thought to myself “oh boy this is going to an amazing finale” only to find out that episode 9 was the finale.

Now we must wait until the next season to see the showdown between Beth and rip vs the cartel. I get the sense that Sheridan has been setting Carter up to die but that’s just my personal thought.

What do you all think will come of Carter? Will Beth and Rip save him?

I can’t see Beth or Rip dying. They are the coproducers of the show and without either one of them, there really is not much of a show.

Ever since American Beauty I fucking love Annette Bening and think she’s the best character on this show.

Beth walking in on Carter naked with Oreana Jackson was as hard as I’ve laughed this season. I love how they are developing Carter and imagine that he’s a fan favorite.
