I finally figured out how to port forward and everything else that is required to for my plex to work remotely and work properly for what I paid.

Purchased a new router and I’m back to stressing again. Hopefully it won’t be so hard. Just updated from Asus to Asus. So directions should be about the same. I am not very savvy when it comes to modem, router isp stuff. I read so many others problems that were the same and tried to implement everything said but only fail.

Have had plex and plex pass for over a year but had to work off relay. Which after getting things set up right is so much better. I used to log into web from work and it took forever to load up my library. Several times would just say offline or no access. Now I click my saved tab for plex on all pcs and tablets and it loads up super fast.

I know they say if it’s not broken you shouldn’t try to fix it or mess with it. My current works good. Dual band and WiFi 5 only. It’s a great router. The Rt86au. Bought the Asus rt Be7200 as new router because I got it at a great price.

Wish me luck. I know I’m gonna want to install it just because it’s new, fancy and probably just a tad faster. I really can’t complain about the ax86u. It has been a great router. I get almost full speeds of what I pay for. 800-900 range of 1g. Zero buffering issues. Runs about 10 Wyze cams. 5 Apple devices along with 2 laptops, and my pc which is my server.

So in short. I’ll have to set up everything again and all 22 plus devices I have now. Why add my work on myself when things are going just fine LoL.

Let me start off by saying I really know very little about routers, modems and WiFi in general. What’s my IP vs actual IP, Static IP, etc. I’m a plug it in and hopefully it works kinda guy.

Tried doing all kinds of stuff. I really didn’t know what I was dojng. Would read here and google all the time.

Was having nothing but issues trying to get remote to work unless relay was on. Today, I think I finally found the culprit and so far, so good. I had to go into advanced security settings and enter the port. So far it’s working

I have Plex Pass Lifetime and thought just by having that everything should work. It did if I had relay on. Right now, relay is off. It’s working remote, loads up fast, just like at home and also it will connect using 5g on my phone. It was only working when I was connected to WiFi.

I’m sure I might have to do more tweaks and who knows, maybe I didn’t even do it right this time, but it’s working so far. Been waiting for my pc friend to get back in touch with me to get it all set up right but I think I did it and so happy
