Asbestos Risk in a Home Built in Georgiain 1983

Wanted to know about the possibility of asbestos in my home’s construction. I’m going to get it tested, but for what it’s worth we have stomp brush ceilings

Coping With Fear I’ve Done Permanent Damage

hello all! I’ve struggled with pica twice in my life, once when I was kid and now in my late adolescence. my cravings are mainly for chalky things, so i made a habit of eating my ceiling. while it does not contain asbestos and was built recently enough to not have lead, I’m afraid I’ve ingested things that will cause me to develop a serious illness later and it’s caused me lots of anxiety as of late. is anybody here grappling with something similar?

Is this normal 🥲

Hey all!! I’ve been lurking on this subreddit for a while since I got hired back in April. I would say my location is pretty good as our operator and shift leads are nice and very considerate. However, the only higher-up I don’t like is the executive director. She’s super finnicky and likes to shade a lot of us younger redshirt employees. Although not originally the plan, I ended up committing to a college a little over 2 hours from home, and our location’s rules (understandably) dictate I cannot stay there. I informed her of this and gave her notice of my last day, and she posted the schedule for this week, which is my last. I normally receive around 25-ish hours, but this week I was only scheduled for 4. Across the course of my (short) time here, I routinely stayed late for others who called out, was never late, and only called out once myself. So I’m wondering if this is just to be expected for your last week of work?

Irritation Bump Help

Hey all! I got my left nostril pierced just over 2 months ago. The piercer originally gave me an L-Bar, which (predictably) began getting slightly irritated after a few weeks. I visited another piercer who changed the jewelry to a threadless flat-back labret (not quite sure if it’s titanium or surgical steel) and the irritation from the L-Bar disappeared within hours of doing this. Everything went swimmingly for about a week until I noticed an irritation bump beginning to form, and that was a month ago. I use an 0.9% NaCl wound wash from Walmart and I clean twice a day consistently. I’ve tried warm compresses with gauze and the bump does get slightly smaller, but in the last few days it’s just gotten bigger and firmer, and I’m kind of at my wit’s end :(. Any tips/advice?

Parking Waitlist Movement

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming freshman who’s set to live in Myers this fall. I did not receive a permit (understandably so as my academic status makes me fall somewhat low on the priority list this year) But i’d like to know if there is there any chance of waitlist movement? I waitlisted south deck, carleton street, pac, east deck, and intramural fields.

Neuroscience Advice

Hi everyone! My first-year advising appointment is today and I’m not quite sure how to go about things. Because of DE and AP credit I’ll likely be able to skip stat 2000, psyc 1101, and engl 1101 + 1102. I know that I’ll have to take a lot of chemistry, but I was wondering if I could take biol 1107 the first semester instead and postpone chemistry 1211 until the spring; I mainly want to do this because I would like to get a 4.0 first semester to boost my chances of getting into the honors college. i know this major is new, but any advice is greatly appreciated !

hello everyone! i’m an incoming freshman and I registered for housing on March 10th. with this late registration time, what choices can I realistically expect to have? I understand that a high rise or newer dorm is likely not an option.

hey everyone! I was admitted for fall 2026 as a freshman and recently found a roommate. she got in ea and I got in rd, so she registered for housing way earlier. when we create the roommate pair on the housing website, does she have to add me as roommate pair in order for us to get the better time ticket or will it default to whoever is slated to select their room first regardless of who creates the pair?

Hey everyone! I’m an admitted student for the Fall 2026 semester. I submitted my FAFSA waaaaay back in October, but osfa is asking me to do identity verification. My SAI is -1500, and I can’t receive my financial aid award until I do. My main question is can I expect to receive any substantial need-based aid at this point? Not just loans, but also gift aid. I understand that it is quite late in the year, but I’ve heard conflicting things about whether or not they award throughout the summer.
