I figured this opinion is more suited for Australia rather than the AFL sub reddit.

As most people have read or seen, Nicky Winmar was convicted or assaulting a woman in 2026 and the AFL (rightly) removed him from the AFL hall of fame

However, Wayne Carey was convicted of assault, not to mention numerous instances of spousal abuse, yet the AFL not only gives him a hall of fame spot, but the footballing media family seems to ignore his history and give him a well paid TV role.

Gary Ablett senior had also had multiple drug charges and one for assaulting a man, yet he's a hall of famer

Does anyone else think this is a serious double standard?

I can barely understand the Scotsman and the Seppo is boring. Prefer British or Aussie commentators.
