Flock Security - how would you feel if it was implemented here?

I’ve been reading a lot about the flock security cameras in the USA, facial recognition and plate scanners are making many US citizens upset. Some of it comes down to the lack of security of their data, but for others its the total invasion of your privacy.

I’m interested to know, if your state police signed a deal with flock and installed cameras at your local shops how do you think Australians would react?

It’s a *little* different to coles or bunnings implementing facial recognition, but even that has barely riled people up.

Do you think we are too busy to care, or too far down the data rabbit hole to stop it happening here? Do you think it would be a good thing with the types of crime we are seeing?

Synology hosting Photography Portfolio

Hello Team,

I recently got a DS1525+ and I'm using it to back up my photos for my business. I noticed that the Web function is available and I'm trying to ditch my Adobe subscription, but they host my professional portfolio!

I'm not a dev, I'm tech literate but not really any website coding, html/php/apache etc. I was wondering what level of experience you'd say I need to set up and administer a simple page wit some galleries and a contact form? I already own a few wordpress templates if thats helpful.

  • I already own a domain with email hosting, so I can point that to it
  • My home internet plan is fibre and unmetered, so bandwidth shouldn't be a problem
  • My synology is always on

Any experiences or warnings are greatly appreciated

Anyone know what is the meaning of scissors cutting hand symbol when driving?

A car drove past me at the lights, passenger put their hand out the window and made the motion of scissors cutting with their fingers. What does it mean?

Fiji - SL3

First trip with my new main camera. Testing out the control layout and image quality. Absolutely blown away with what it produces

Shot in Vivid with Lumix Pro 24-70 and TTartisan 40mm f2.

The app is seamless, the focus has gotten better since 4.1 and 4.2 today. Incredible jogs can’t wait to get home and see my 240mp multi shots.

Do people actually take News.com.au seriously?

Tim Wilson trying it out on air, thinks the Prime Minister and the Treasurer will be ousted by their own party, despite winning a second term in a landslide 12 months ago. This wild speculation somehow counts as legitimate journalism.

If we actually abolish the ABC and SBS under Pauline, is this the level of speculative trash talk we will be permanently subjected to?

Large company is 4 months late on invoice - chances at small claims court?

TL;DR I provided a creative service for a national sports team, they've failed to pay me, how to remedy? Small claims court?

I've worked for this client before so I'm set up in their payment system, the first time they paid my invoice no problems! I worked for them in Feb, they wanted the creative the next day, so I delivered and they haven't paid my invoice.

I've chased it up dozens of times, I keep getting told it will be paid. I have emails and messages saying this.

My invoice stipulates that I can charge a late payment fee of 10% interest fortnightly, which I've never had to use. Most clients who miss payments just apologise and send the money straight away. I'm considering using this as leverage now, but I don't want to be an arse about it. I feel dirty chasing the money I'm owed like this.

I'm thinking of going to the small claims court now. The invoice total is about $900, but if I serve them documents does that mean I have to proceed? What is the likelihood that a $900 claim from February will get heard?

Thanks for any advice

Upgraded my work camera

Purchased a second hand SL3 last week. I’ve always wanted a Leica and hadn’t held one of these until I went into the store the other day. The 1 year warranty and firmware 4.0 sold me. I feel like i’ve kind’ve “made it” now that I can buy what I want.

My S1H has been great to me, and I really like my L mount lenses, but it felt time to upgrade. I’m primarily a portrait and fashion shooter, with some corporate on the side. I’ll keep some lumix bodies as B cameras or specialised cine. Finally I won’t have to run Lumix tether anymore

New daily carry lens just arrived

Just got the new 40mm f2 from TTartisans today for my Lumix S1H. Have been carrying a 25mm 1.7 around on my fujifilm and love the field of view it just feels the right mix for most situations but encourages me to get closer. Pretty cracking deal for $225 aud. Plenty of character without looking trash.
