Curling Leaves

Hi everyone! I’ve had this pilea since the beginning of this year and she has grown like crazy since getting her. When I first bought it, she was in a 2 inch self watering pot and was kept under a generic amazon halo grow light.

Since then, i’ve upgraded my setup and built an ikea cabinet with barrina lights, where she currently sits. The cabinet gets about 12 hrs of light a day, with the barrina lights giving off about 600 fc where she is. The cabinet sits at around 50-60% humidity and around 75-80 degrees.

I’ve noticed that once I moved her to the cabinet a few months ago new leaf growth started curling under itself. When trying to research about it, I got mixed results with some sites saying it needs more light while others say it’s too much. I’m not really sure what to change. I didn’t have this issue when using my generic amazon grow lights, but they’re now being used for different plants.

I’ve since repotted it into a 3.5 inch pot but it honestly looks like she can go up another size because she’s starting to look root bound again. I water once a week and since it’s summer i’ve fertilized with every watering.

I’d appreciate any help! I’d love to get her back to where she was with flat leaves. 🥲

All white leaves

Hi everyone! I need a little advice on what to do with my monstera albo. I had gotten it a few months ago and when I initially got it, she had an all white leaf. That leaf had died off and then quickly grew another all white (hidden under the big white one). Then, it unfurled a beautiful half moon on the left proceeded by another huge all white leaf with the tiniest bit of green in the middle. Now it seems like she’s unfurling another leaf with what looks to be the slightest amount of green on top, but seems mostly white. Is there anything I should do? I know most people tend to cut them back when they produce all whites but I’m scared to cut it and don’t know where.

Should I be worried?

Hi everyone! I just got my very first neon pothos and noticed a few of these dark dots on some of the leaves. A majority of the other leaves are perfectly fine. Others have some white coloration to them. I tried wiping the leaves, especially the white ones, and nothing came off. Is there anything I should worry about or do? I don’t notice any pests on the leaves themselves or the top soil. Should I check the roots? Any advice would help! :)

Potting corms?

Hi everyone! This is my first time trying to grow alocasia corms and was wondering how long I should wait before repotting. I currently have three corms, one is in water and the two pictured above have been in sphagnum moss. All of them have been growing for about 3 weeks now. With the two corms pictured above, is it too soon to plant in soil? One seems to be more developed than the other.

Also, if they aren’t ready, would it be okay if I switch from the sphagnum moss to water growing or is it too late? I keep the container with moss covered with a ziplock for humidity but noticed a small gnat in it recently and don’t want to risk killing the corms or any of my other plants in my little greenhouse.

Let me know what you think!!

Repot?

Hi everyone! This is my second time trying with a VSOH and she seems to be doing much better this second time around! I’ve had it for a few months now and haven’t repotted since getting it.

My concern is that the dirt around the edges of the pot are starting to clump together leaving huge gaps to the point where I can see the tubers being exposed.

Should I repot? I’m not sure If I should keep using the same pot/ upsize/downsize/ or add more soil.

Also, I’d totally appreciate any better lighting tips that you may have!! Currently my SOH is sitting under a grow light on my shelf, with an additional grow light underneath for the bottom leaves. I noticed that the mid section does not get enough light because of the angles of the grow lights, causing it to revert to green. I only have a north facing and south east facing window in my room and they don’t get a ton of light because they’re blocked by trees & my neighbors giant monstrosity of a house. Grow lights are probably my only option but she definitely needs a better setup!

Edit: I just measured the lighting from my SE facing window and it gets about 200-300 FC. It’s pretty cloudy today so i’m not sure what it would be like on a sunny day but would this be an okay spot to have her hanging?

Any advice is appreciated :)

Leaf or flower?

Hi everyone! I’m still pretty new to alocasia’s and just recently picked up a couple about 2 months ago. I noticed my silver dragon has some new growth but I can’t tell if it’s a new leaf or a flower coming in.

Wilting stems & curling leaves

Hi everyone! I just recently purchased this Alocasia Melo and was wondering what to do about some of the drooping stems and curling leaves. This is my first time owning an alocasia and wanted to make sure I’m giving it the proper care going forward. I also purchased a silver dragon at the same time. Since I just purchased them yesterday, I haven’t repotted them yet. I noticed the soil that the Melo is planted in is very damp, and i’m not sure if that’s what’s causing the drooping or curling. I also noticed that some of the leaves have browning tips, while others look pretty healthy. The silver dragon also has a significant amount of curling on some of its leaves. Both of my alocasias are sitting near my SE facing window for the time being, but I plan on getting additional grow lights for extra light. I would appreciate any advice as to how to proceed with caring for them!

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting in this forum, and I can definitely use some advice on my variegated monstera albo!

I had purchased this cutting from a seller on Etsy back in February, and when it arrived in the mail one of its all white leaves had already browned and died due to the lack of light. I know that was to be expected due to the lack of chlorophyll, so I cut the dead leaf off close to the base of the plant as was recommended to me by the seller. About a week ago, I noticed that she started growing a new white leaf in almost the same spot where the last all white leaf was. You can see where I cut the old stem and where the new leaf has grown in the pictures.

I guess my question would be if it’s possible to promote the growth of variegated leaves with more chlorophyll? Currently my plant sits under a grow light (I moved her to take the pictures), but I know it’s inevitable that the current all white leaf might die again. Is there anything more I should be doing? Any advice would be appreciated!!
