I'm so grateful for having the ability to speak, besides my native language, 2 other ones - English and Spanish (as of now, I have medium Spanish)🙏 . These helped me with befriending British, Canadian and American people and 1 Mexican American that speaks Spanish. I love learning about the cultures of America and Canada and Mexico and Cuba and the languages help with that. I'm grateful for this ability so much.
Just wanted to share my piece of thought/kinda rant:
How, and I mean, how, does she even do this??
Hils been speaking with a strong accent boldly, despite it being linguistically laughable, meanwhile I occasionally feel low key embarrassed speaking English or Spanish because my accent in these, to my perception, was stronger than even my peers speaking the same native language. Constructing phrases while learning Spanish, I carefully think over in order to not make stupid mistakes!
And that's...uhh... so weird, like the accent is barely even Spanish, or at least, not Catalán. Speaking "she can turn it off" in English with a thick accent on camera? I wish I was that confident in my natural one.
Rant over
Anyone could provide a list of her language faults besides that "mi familia en España" interview, Baldwinitos and ven aqui?
🤗🤗 sending hugs to American women, just wanted to say, "Do not lose your happiness and joy" because bad times are replaced by good times eventually.... and anyway, the American people I've befriended are truly kind and nice so thanks, generally for your kindness, because kindness is always valuable in this world.
So I just wanted to say stay optimistic and positive and do not lose your kindness!
And just wanted to cheer up, here are some virtual 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️ 😺 cats and 🐕 🐶🐩 dogs!
So, Southern Europe is said to be very huggy and Americans that I've talked to love hugs. Generally, how often do Americans hug, or is it just a family-friends thing?
Gif and pics are from a 1991 video, a CityLink magazine archive and Daisy's social media from 2016
Honestly, anyone who needs hugs as usual, here you go: 🤗 🫂 🤗 🫂
Anyway, there are a lot of bad news, but why not create a single positivity thread for hugs, good news, or fun facts about Canada and USA's cultures (inside jokes, dishes, etc) or cat pictures?
Purely to relax from all the negative things for a minute
🫂 🤗 👐
Well, it had been my half-lifelong dream of temporarily living/visiting there due to (south) Florida's diverse communities and history of music and visual arts and generally it seems like a nice place nature-wise (Everglades). Therein lies the problem. I've seen reports that Florida, at least in the southern part, will be submerged by 2050-2100.
I'm anxious because on reddit at least people claim to leave Florida or preparing to do so, and nobody seems to care for the land as much + the constant "inevitably underwater " type of comments. Is that true that there's nothing anyone can do and it can't be saved? So much biodiversity will be gone, along with the migrating people. Is Florida really that hopeless? Will its artistic and cultural diversity survive? (Artists, musicians of all kinds etc)
I have asked about this on the other subreddit, but I got a more general set of answers about South Florida/Broward/ Ft. Lauderdale music scene. However, I'd like to ask (older) S. Floridians/Browardians specifically about Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids (the band was born in Fort Lauderdale) and derived projects like Collapsing Lungs/Nation of Fear, India Lovesou (sp?) Three Ton Gate (3TG), JoJ, Stuck on Evil, Linda Blairs.
And how was talking to or knowing the Spookies themselves, namely Daisy Berkowitz? I'm curious to know. Thanks in advance.
Sorry if the following sounds corny, just wanted to share.
Thank you all for responding to my music thread a couple of days ago.
What I wanted to say that FTL, despite me only seeing it on photos and videos (1990s-2011, but anyway), seems like a very nice and quirky city full of creative people... and honestly I became a fan. It’s just so cool.
Keep your city just as beautiful and artistic and please preserve its natural beauty!!!
And additional positive vibes for music fans of the city! ⭐️🎵🌞
There are some bands that were born in Fort Lauderdale in the early or mid 1990s, namely Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids/Three Ton Gate, Collapsing Lungs, and others like them. Can anyone tell more about going to their concerts or listening to their music or encountering/ talking to the band members back then, in Fort Lauderdale or, if you wish, in Broward/South Florida?
Thank you in advance!
Can Broward, Miami and Palm Beach somehow be saved from sinking below sea level (or even kept in their present form) or there's no hope for South Florida at all and people will leave it? Not dooming, just asking because I am interested in visiting S. Florida and seeing its nature and artistic things one day
