My fully magnetized Warrior of Chaos

My weapons magnetized Warrior of Chaos test model for full WYSIWYG on the table top.

All possible combinations of weapons and equipment are possible with any single model (1-H weapon only, Halberd, 1-H weapon and shield, Great Weapon, dual wield etc) – anything that is featured in the Warhammer The Old World Rules.

I painted him in ye olde Games Workshop ‘Eavy Metal style and the magnetized weapons and shield are solid and stable. I think that these (now old) Warriors of Chaos still hold up and can look good and it will be interesting to see if I can magnetize the new ones.

Also a few people have asked how I magnetized these Warriors of Chaos and I posted a tutorial on Reddit with photos some time ago and here is the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerFantasy/comments/1sx25jb/how_to_magnetize_warriors_of_chaos_miniatures_the/

Royal Mail UK International Tracked - Claims to have Import Fees paid upfront as optional when buying a label but then forces you to anyway !?!?!?!?

So today online I bought a Royal Mail UK International Tracked Large Letter to Germany and when I filled in the details of the contents of the Large Letter (price, weight, value, item type for tax category - it was a comic book etc) at the bottom of the screen there was a button with a border and the text above it reads 'Would you like to pay the custom fees now ?' I wanted to skip that as I think that the buyer should pay the import fees and not click that option and just hit the red button showing 'Continue' but when I did that it didn't allow me to proceed to the next section on the web form and it displayed the error message in read 'Please select if you wish to pay the custom and handling feed now'.

There was NO OPTION on the user interface to state 'No, I do not want to to pay the import fees now!' etc. is this bad user interface design or some bug ? I tried a different internet browser and the same result.

The thing is that I create Royal Mail labels which are internationally tracked quite often and it seems to be rather hit or miss depending on what I'm sending or to which country that this problem occurs. Am I missing something on the web form that I haven't clicked ?!? I'm correctly as always declaring the item as an eBay market sale, with order number and the correct tax code etc. Is it because it's a large letter and not a small parcel and someone down the line doesn't want to bother with clawing the import fees off the receiver in a foreign country ? Is it to do with where the item was manufactured ? the item I sent was a comic made in the U.S. ?

Anyone know what the rules are, why this is happening and how to circumvent it ? I sold a £10 comic to mainland Europe (EU), it cost me £1 in administration fees but then on top of that they make me pay the £2.57 import customs fees - it's just not worth it !

I include some screenshots of what the Royal Mail web form interface is showing me when I try and navigate it to create my international tracked label.

thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Suspected buyer fraud on a return, what could the buyer do next ? thankfully it's not a high value item but the buyer could be 'testing the water' to do a bigger fraud later on.

So today I received a return request on an item (reason was 'item received damage') that is less than £40 which is very rare for me but possible. Looking at the photographs that the buyer sent me it looked like a chunk of the item had been 'cut away' and I suspected damage during unboxing but realized it would be hard to prove - although I did have packing photos of the item before I sent it showing the item in mint condition alongside the invoice and address labelled parcel box. So I messaged the buyer with a photo of the packing photos showing the undamaged item before it was sent half an hour after the return request and just asked them what happened as it didn't seem like a transit damage incident (there was a chunk cut out of the brand new item !).

Then 20 minutes passed and no reply and I decided to take a peek at the buyers eBay account and it was displaying 'Account No Longer Registered !' in red. I thought that this was very irregular and something in the back of my mind remembered that I had looked at his account when I sent the item over a week ago and his eBay account was brand new. So then I decided to sent him another eBay message and the eBay text message displayed a red warning stating something like 'This buyer's account has been deleted, blocked or suspended, please proceed with caution when messaging.'. At this point alarm bells started ringing in my ears, so I decided to give the buyer a call to see what was going on or to see if the phone number he provided for the sale was legit. Speaking to him he seemed reasonable and he claimed that he previously had some issues with his eBay account; I asked him how old his eBay account was as I could see no feedback on his eBay account from either buyers or sellers; the buyer informed me that 'he has had is account for years' - after telephone conversation ended I found this to be untrue as eBay was showing his account to be around a week old. I ended the conversation stating that I will send him a return label via eBay and it was up to him to either return the item or not - he suddenly seem to backtrack on wanting to return the item which I thought was odd. Anyway I ended the conversation, bought a label and accepted the return (not the refund) and left it at that. The thing is that I actually digitally RECORDED the telephone conversation I had with him as I suspected possible fraud so I have evidence that he claimed that his account is years old when that doesn't seem to be the case.

My suspicion is that he was swapping out a damaged item for my mint condition one but has somehow felt rumbled either by my packing photos and he himself has deleted his account (is it possible to do so with an open return ?) OR eBay have detected him from a prior fraud and has suspended his account. A third possibility is that he may have had previous genuine issues with his eBay account and he has had it for years but eBay have somehow tinkered with his account and 'reset it' a week ago hence why it was showing as a new account with 'member since mid July 2026' etc.

My question to you all is (more out of interest) is that what can he do now ? if he sends the item back with a suspended/non registered account will he get a refund via eBay ? if eBay stops the refund (if he does send it back) can he then issue a charge back via the bank ? I have evidence that his eBay account had been suspended and an audio recording informing me that his eBay account is 'years old' but I have a screen shot of his eBay account details showing his eBay account only a week old.

Any advice and pointers are most welcome on what to do or expect with this rather odd situation !!!

Saturday 13th June 2026 Dropped off 3 x Tracked 48 parcels at village Post Office and hours later on the tracking showing 'We Are Still Expecting It' - as if it hasn't been handed over to them; what to do ? Thankfully I have proof of postage receipts.

Saturday 13th June 2026 Dropped off 3 x Tracked 48 parcels at village Post Office and hours later on the tracking showing 'We Are Still Expecting It' - as if it hasn't been handed over to them; what to do ?

Usually it takes 4 minutes for Royal Mail to update to 'We Have It' on the tracking; something is wrong. This is like back to the bad old days 18 months ago when 'sometimes' it took around up to 4 hours to update the status after a hand over of a pre-paid tracked labeled parcel at the post office.

Thankfully I have paper receipts for all the Royal Mail parcels I dropped off at the post office. If these go missing; I don't want a fight on my hands with Royal Mail claiming that 'they weren't received by the post office' despite me uploading Proof of Posting evidence - I've claimed before for lost tracked items and Royal Mail would not pay up because 'I needed to show that I had 'refunded the buyer' on the invoice. I absolutely loathe these mini wind ups.

Is there anything hat the Post Office worker possibly failed to do that I don't know about ? Did he mark it incorrectly on his system and if so, how can I tell ?

It's 10:30am 20th May 2026 - cannot log onto Royal Mail website to buy labels

I know that some users have been facing issues for 9+ already hours now with this login problem for Royal Mail UK user accounts but do we have an ETA for a fix ? If you click on the 'Reset your password' link on the logon prompt it takes you to a page stating that there are problems with the website and it doesn't e-mail you a password reset request.

I seriously need to buy a Royal Mail UK label today and it would be good if anyone could give me some info on when the Royal Mail UK systems will be fixed or as some accounts changed / deleted for good ?

Here is the photo of my log in attempt with the error message (the password which is masked and that I typed in is not incorrect)/

My claim for lost Tracked 48 parcel effectively got rejected with stamps only offered. What is the time limit for me to complain to the escalation team for a refund for the value of the item ?

My claim for lost Tracked 48 parcel effectively got rejected with stamps only offered. What is the time limit for me to now complain to the escalation team for a refund for the value of the item ?

It was an eBay item for the UK which got lost after it being dropped off at the parcel shop, the tracking indicates this but after this point there was no further tracking info on the Royal Mail Network 2 weeks ago. I believe I know why I wasn't compensated for the value of the item and that would be due to the eBay invoice not showing a refund to the buyer. How long after the (stamps only) claim rejected e-mail from Royal Mail do I have to provide the Royal Mail escalation team with an eBay invoice showing the refund to the buyer in order to get the full value of the item back ? anyone know ? is it a few days, several weeks or months ?

Would be interesting to know. Note that this is not an eBay claim I can make as the I bought the label from Royal Mail direct (not via eBay).

I noticed that recently 48 tracking changed the prefix tracking code from YA to YU, anyone experience tracking problems with this change ?

I've noticed that recently (in the last few days) Royal Mail 48 tracking changed the prefix tracking code from YA to YU, is anyone experience tracking problems with this change or is everything tracking ok ?

I'm asking because 6 to 9 months ago when they changed the 48 tracking code to YA, posted items failed to register after drop off at the post office and track for around 2-3 days and I'm an eBay seller and I don't want buyers to claim that they never received their item and have them point to the tracking (whereas in reality they had received).

How to magnetize the (old) Warriors of Chaos miniatures for different equipment and weapons

1

I often comment on various sites that I magnetize in order to attain WYSIWYG with my miniatures for the different weapons and equipment that come on the sprue and are in the rules; some have told me that it’s unnecessary and too fiddly but some (including a YouTuber) once asked to see the results of my magnetization attempts for my Warriors of Chaos for Warhammer the Old World.

Many are correct, it is fiddly but once you get the hang of it you will have miniatures on your table top as they are according to your army lists so there is less confusion regarding what weapons certain units have and also you’ll get more hobby time out of those hard earned plastic sprues that you bought so I’ll explain below how I magnetized my warriors of Chaos.

What you’ll Need

2mmx1mm N52 magnets

3mmx2mm N52 magnets

8mmx3mm N52 magnets (or bigger for the underside of the miniature base to anchor heavier single handed weapons like the Halberd or the Standard and such – see more about this below).

Wooden tooth picks / cocktail sticks.

X-Acto Knife and smooth metal blade (or similar)

Hand drill

3mm hand drill bit

2mm hand drill bit

Very strong and very watery (so it seeps into small cracks) super glue – I use what I regard to be the best for this which is Bob Smith Industries Insta+

Metallic Ink Pens (say white and black)  to mark the polarity of the magnets before you insert them into the miniature).

Nitrile Gloves (or similar – as you don’t want superglue on your skin)

Paper Towel (working with super glue and tiny bits with wooden tooth picks gets surprisingly messy and you need to wipe the glue onto the paper towel)

·       Note also good ventilation is required as BobSmith Industries Insta+ is a runny glue and quite vaporous – I use a 3M mask also when using it.

The first two photos show all the items stated above.

Below are the steps to magnetize everything for your Warriors of Chaos.

1)      The 3^(rd) photo shows the Warrior of Chaos magnetized with all the weapons and equipment pieces around him (also magnetized) and this is the final aim of this tutorial.  First take the hand drill with 3mm drill bit and drill two holes on the arm slots on the main body of the WoC which is enough for one or the 3mm x 1mm magnets to go into each (test that they fit and that they are flat and not at an angle. As you drill it maybe an idea to put a hand at the back of the miniature to ‘feel’  that the head of the drill bit is not starting to penetrate the back of the mini thus ruining it – this may not seem like a great idea in terms of health and safety but if you drill VERY slowly there will be no issues and there is often plenty of warning where you can see and feel the drill bit penetrating a part of the mini that you don’t want to (see 4^(th) photo). Remember that this is not a race to drill the fastest; it is about slow hand drilling and with control whereby you stop and start and adjust the drilling angle visually if you feel that you are drilling in the wrong direction. Photo 4.5 shows different sized drill bits for the hand drill and their corresponding magnet size.

4.5

2)  Next mark the polarity of your magnets with a metallic ink pen (use this type of ink as felt tip men ink rubs off easy) – this is VERY important because if you get the wrong polarity – later on you will have great difficulties in extracting an incorrect magnet that has been superglues on. I tend to mark magnet polarities according to right or left handed biased weapons (white for mini right hand  / black for mini left hand) – this may seem odd to you as magnets have N/S binary polarity so only one colour could be used but this is just my way; do it different if you want to. (see photo 5 for this step).

5

3)      Now take a wooden toothpick and apply some super glue onto its’ tip and let it drip into the drilled hole where the magnet is going to be inserted, you just need enough so the magnet is covered in it’s entirety in superglue.  The toothpick gives good control, better than superglue bottles and such (at least I think). In photos 6 and 7 I’ve shown this.

6

7

  1.     Then before the superglue dries in step 3, place the (ink polarity marked) magnet onto a smooth X-Acto blade  (or similar) and with a wooden tooth pick slide it off the end of the blade into the drilled hole with the superglue inside. When you do this the magnet may drop with the wrong polarity facing outwards or it may twist or fly out of the hole due to interference from a different magnet already on the miniature  but don’t worry, just quickly try again. Pick up the magnet (this is what the gloves are for) and re-insert it into the drilled hole by again sliding it off the X-Acto blade with the wooden toothpick. If the magnet is twisting around due to interference from another magnet on the same mini, just hold it down in place with the point of the wooden toothpick for a few seconds until the glue looks like it’s setting then gently pull away (twist) the wooden toothpick. (photo 8 shows the sliding of the magnet off the blade using the toothpick into the drill hole).

8

  1.   Repeat steps 1-4 for the smaller lighter weapons/equipment such as the shield, hand weapon (sword), two handed great weapon (this one has TWO magnets inserted into it where the hand/arm slots connect) BUT this time instead of using 3mmx1mm magnets like we did in the main body of the WoC, we will uses smaller magnets which are 2mmx1mm.  We will also be using the 2mm drill bit instead of the 3mm drill bit to make the holes on the equipment/weapons where the magnets will be inserted (See photos 3 and 9 which show where these magnets are to be placed onto the weapons/equipment for the WoC).

We should now have a single magnetized Warrior of Chaos which has hand weapon/shield and Great weapon options (see photos 10 and 11 showing this).

9

10

11

  1.    For the slightly heavier (1-hand held) weapons and equipment we need additional magnets to anchor them, otherwise they will be too weak in terms of the connection and will spin and be angled incorrectly etc (trust me this is the case); so we need to what I call ‘anchor’ the heavy 1-hand held weapon or equipment for the WoC and we will focus on the Halberd (sadly not a magnetic metal) and the plastic standard. Again for these items of equipment/weapons we’ll be using 2mmx1mm magnets, for the metal halberd we want a magnet on the part where the arm connects to the body of the WoC and also on the bottom end of the halberd shaft to anchor the weapon down (and most importantly upright !)

Before you place the magnet on the underside of the bottom of the shaft of the halberd, attach a 8mmx3mm (or bigger) to the underside of the black plastic base of the miniature and then place a 2mmx1mm magnet on top of the base so it rests on the natural position attracted to the magnet underneath it; this 2mmx1mm magnet will be were the end of the shaft of the halberd is. Once you’ve drilled a 2mm hole onto the end of the shaft, repeat the steps above ensuring that you get the polarity of the magnet correct when inserted. The plastic Standard (for the Standard Bearer) is also magnetized this way i.e. 2mmx1mm magnets for the arm connection point and the underside of the shaft of the Standard, the Standard is so heavy that if you didn’t anchor it down with a magnet on the underside / bottom of the shaft then it would be too weak and be ant the wrong angle i.e. not upright. Photos 12,13 and 14 show the partial steps for the Halberd and Standard (and the base of the miniature) mentioned in this step.

The results are shown in photos 15 and 16 showing our same magnetized Warrior of Chaos holding the magnetized halberd and the standard (both upright and at the correct angle).
