Dealer call out post!

Dealer call out post!

Took my EN in today for part of the free basic maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, and inspection) had my son with me we went around lunch so he was hungry when we left. I noticed a faint smell of oil when we parked at McDonald's but didn't think much of it because ya know some times small spills happen. On my way further home I saw some smoke coming from my front passenger side so again I say it's probably oil but I'm going to pull over and check. Low and behold they didn't put my oil cap back on. I will be going back tomorrow to have them detail my car now (pictured is exactly how everything was when I popped the hood....

Suburban Hyundai of Troy in Michigan

Btw on the issues with button mapping everyone should go complain to their local dealer it's the only way it's going to get fixed by corporate.

Funny interaction

Brought my car in for some standard maintenance, asked them to put my woosh titanium oil drain plug on and they exclaimed that it would void my warranty. I laughed quite a bit and said this plug is better quality than the OEM plug and legally you cant void my warranty over something like an oil drain plug unless you can prove that it caused a failure which it won't unless there's an off chance it's a crappy plug and causes a leak over time. I'm only here for the free maintenance I genuinely hate dealerships.

Genuine question

In my efforts to change out the incandescent lights to Led I like many others just bought a lasfit kit one thing I will say is the map and dome lights are atrociously bright (there is no diffusion) if I don't come up with a simple solution I will probably swap them out for ones I found at diode dynamics which seem to have a translucent diffuser over the led it self to reduce harshness. May take it to a window tinter or vynil wrapper to see if they have any translucent frosted film they can work onto the lenses of the vanity lights and rear dome that too will help break up the light. The map lights are just fine not too harsh. This was a little show and tell for those looking to do this.

Now the meat of the question the high mount 3rd brake light in the rear windshield lasfit does not have a replacement for it not for a 2024+ model at least. They do for the Elantra but not the N. It's just an 1156 bulb I decided to buy them anyways off Amazon they're red led brake lights 1156 fit figure I got 2 in the pack so if one burnt out down the road I could swap it. Either way it throws a code immediately for the 3rd brake light I did some videos from in the trunk with the bulb hanging and it does work just fine it turns on and off with the brake pedal but the code is there. Swapping back to the factory incandescent removes that code immediately.

Has anyone had any success with an led 3rd brake light replacement? If so where did you get it from? Please provide links

Request to the community

CP-E has made some good high quality parts over the years, they make a solid downpipe for the Elantra N. I asked them if they would make me or planned on making an exhaust for the Elantra N (I think it's odd they make a downpipe but not an exhaust) they explicitly said "At this time we do not have plans for an Elantra N catback. We have some other projects in the pipeline but if we continue to get more requests for an Elantra N catback we can make adjustments" personally I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust that sounds good a deep throaty tone that's not overly raspy and loud CP-E are the guys to do it. So anyone who hasn't gotten an exhaust yet and plans to in the future chime in so we can get one made and have a full setup.

Utilizing free space

So I picked this up seeing as we don't have the drive mode selection in that location and Hyundai chose to make it a blank panel instead of implementing the newer screens it fits well no white indices to be seen this thing is well built for phone mounting, super strong and is adjustable. It's well built the orange frame is metal and only about 20 dollars (us) I do wish chubby cable made these in different colors like PB or a nice Red to match the exterior but the orange makes a bit of a statement. Now all I need is a magnetic sunglasses holder that's in alcantara with PB stitching. Also note could definitely use one of these for filming with your phone. Link below if you wanna pick one up.

Goodies!

Edit forgot to include the intake comes with a velocity stack which I'm sure alot of people don't know about.

This passed Friday I installed a GFB BOV/Recirculating valve and a K&N intake. So far on my 25 DCT I can report that there has been no check engine light for the intake I've driven the car 3 days since (main reason for the post). The pic is from before I did this next step but I did attempt to refit the OE ram air portion of the factory intake. I did manage to get the first piece that bolts to the bumper/ pins down the air box portion with some slight trimming but the larger piece that actually snaps into the air box wasn't able to be fitted due to how sharp the K&N heat shield cuts in from that area. Plan now is to find someone who has a 3D printer and make a bell mouth attachment that will help bring more outside air to the filter.

The portion of the heat shield that's closest to the front bumper does hang down ever so slightly which is where alot of the coolant hose contact is. The fix for this is drilling a hole taking the ram air portion off putting a rivnut or 2 into the heat shield through the plastic piece to tie it all together.

Also I will be running the weather stripping again I didn't have a razor blade on hand to make a super clean cut so I used my wire snips. Fortunately K&N gives you enough to run the stripping twice with some extra. So if you go rough on your first pass you can run it again cleaner.

New to the club parts questions

Bought my mother a 2013 base that has just under 51,000 on it, there are a couple of issues due to the age 1 the driver side glass run (pic included) has failed and thus she can't roll the window all the way back up once rolled down without manipulation of the window. Obviously it also lets water through in that area. Anyone have a bead on the correct parts I need to order and the best place to get them so I can replace?

Also she has an EVAP code we just picked this up the check engine light was on when we test drove it the dealer played the B's of oh it was just an EVAP code the gas gap wasn't screwed on right enough. They cleared the code and it came back 2 days later. I took a closer look at the cap and said okay the seals worn a bit let me to buy a new one. That didn't resolve it because upon first fill up I was getting back feed that tells me it's likely the EVAP Canister (charcoal) canister previous owner must have pulled the ole squeeze to top off the tank and over time the charcoal has become sludge in there. So I want to get a new one but we all know they're expensive as hell for such a simple part. Probably do the canister close valve while im at it just to be through and it's easy to access right under the hood on a 1.6L so any knowledge on the best place to grab one of these as to not yet my ass handed to me on cost would be great too.
