Help me choose between 2 Job Offers (Accounting):BGC Corporate vs. a Manila Fil-Chinenes Company

Hi everyone! I’m a fresh grad from the province currently planning my relocation to Metro Manila. I’ve received two job offers for entry-level accounting roles, and I’m having a hard time weighing which one makes the most sense long-term.

I’d love to get your thoughts on which offer you’d choose, especially considering cost of living, career growth, and work culture.

Here is the breakdown of the two offers:

Option A: General Ledger Associate – Agribusiness Company owned by a Fil-Chinese (Ermita, Manila)

* Base Pay: ~₱19,942/month (₱767 daily rate)

* Housing/Utilities: Free company staff house provided

* Food Perk: Free daily lunch on workdays

Upon regularization:

* Leave Credits: 20 days total (10 VL + 10 SL), cash-convertible upon regularization

* HMO: 100% employer-paid (₱165k MBL upon regularization)

Reporting To: Direct report to Executive Management / Company Directors

Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Option B: General Accounting Assistant – Automotive Group (BGC)

* Base Pay: ₱22,200/month basic pay

* Housing Allowance: ₱5,000 monthly reimbursement (planning to rent a room in Taguig)

* Food/Utilities: Out-of-pocket

* Leave Credits: 10 days total (5 VL + 5 SL upon regularization)

* HMO: 25% employer share / 75% employee co-pay upon permanency (₱100k MBL)

Reporting To: Accounting Manager (structured corporate hierarchy)

Work Schedule: Monday to Saturday

My Dilemma / Thoughts:

— Option A saves a lot on daily expenses due to free housing and workday lunches. However, Option B’s ₱5k allowance covers my room rent + utilities leaving Option B with a higher basic pay on paper.

— Option A involves reporting directly to company owners/executives, which feels a bit intimidating for a first job. Option B feels more structured with a direct Accounting Manager to guide me, plus BGC seems like a safer and more modern area to work in compared to Ermita.

Which offer seems like the better starting point for an entry-level accountant looking to balance career growth, mental health, and actual take-home savings?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Bakit sobrang entitled ng ibang Pinoy employees pagdating sa simpleng greetings

For context, I work in an LGU Accounting Unit, isa sa mayroong pinakamaraming workload at need ng full attention and focus. Then there's this regular employee from a different unit. Palagi sya pumapasok sa office for concerns siguro. We other employees greet him good morning/afternoon, etc. Then one time, busy season, lahat focus sa work, di na namin namalayan na pumasok pala siya sa opisina namin. Ending hindi namin sya nabati ng good morning nang maayos but we did say good morning pero nakafocus kami sa ginagawa. Tapos he then went on to rant. Ang lakas ng boses kesyo di raw kami marunong bumati, mag smile at mag entertain kinemerut. Tapos pinagbantaan pang ipapatawag sa HR HAHAHA

That was only one time! At sya lang ang nagreklamo ng ganon sa amin among all other employees that visit us. Nakakairita lang na need pa ba nya ipagkalat sa buong munisipyo na wala kaming manners. Sya itong walang manners kung alam nya lang talaga

Threatened co-worker (?)

I am currently working as a JO/Casual in our LGU. Then there's this another JO na lampas dekada na yatang JO sa same department. I don't have any animosity sa kanya since she was bubbly and all, maingay, and easily gets along with everyone sa office. But lately, I feel like she's threatened specially sa mga newbies. Meron kasi don sa amin na bata pa na naunahan pa sya maging regular. And now, there's a vacant plantilla position nanaman sa opisina and I have applied for that post. Its posible na nalaman nya yun. She keeps discouraging me not to stay in the LGU because the pay is low and mas madami daw opportunity sa Manila. I kept quite. And now, i feel like there's some hint of bitterness sa kanya and also kasi baka naview nya ako as a threat nanaman.

For context, yung naregular na naunahan sya is meron kasing CS SubProf eligibility which is a must-have qualification. Then itong si co-worker, kahit dekada na sya na JO, wala pa syang CS eligibility.

Napapaisip lang ako lately HAHA. Kasi rn, 5 kaming JO sa opisina and ako lang now ang may CS Prof Eligibility pa. I can really feel the hidden animosity.
