Real Talk: What makes a good Smash Roster?

After posting my own roster I made on a whim a while back, I feel like I want to try again. I feel like the best way to start could also lead to an interesting discussion, the main purpose of this post. What makes a good Smash roster to begin with?

Everyone has their own unique visions and desires, so I think it'll be interesting to see what makes a roster perfect from the perspective of the Subreddit dedicated to it! As much as I like jokes, I am looking for some serious answers. I'm trying to dive into the minds of the Smash populace as an outsider looking in. Thank you in advance for your comments!

Looking for Moveset help!

Hey, everyone! I've been going through Pokémon Black 2 with a team I've been having a lot of fun with! I'm six badges in, and my one problem with this team is that coverage moves are scarce. So I figured I'd ask for some advice and recommendations on what to do!

It's definitely still a work in progress, but here's the team so far! Please keep in mind that this is just for a casual playthrough and some PWT and Black Tower stuff.

Serperior

Nature: Careful

Ability: Overgrow

Current Moves: Leaf Blade, Slam, Mega Drain, Coil

Dragonair

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Shed Skin

Current Moves: Dragon Tail, ExtremeSpeed, Surf, Thunder Wave

Gigalith

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Sturdy

Current Moves: Rock Slide, Bulldoze, Strength, Stealth Rock

Cinccino

Nature: Serious

Ability: Skill Link

Current Moves: Tail Slap, Swift, Thief, Sing

Escavalier

Nature: Relaxed

Ability: Swarm

Current Moves: Fury Cutter, Bug Buzz, False Swipe, Cut

The last team member is probably going to be a Starmie. I haven't gotten there quite yet.

What I'm looking for is as much coverage as possible once I have my complete team, as well as good moves to replace some of the weaker ones when thay time comes. Thank you in advance for any wisdom you have to share!

A Team Building Follow-up

Hi! A few days ago, I asked this Subreddit and one other for some team member suggestions for a Black 2 playthrough team. After some careful thinking about the suggestions and keeping in mind some Pokémon I've been gravitating towards, I think I've got a great one on mind. But I feel like I might be going a bit overboard on physical attackers, and I was wanting to see if there were any changes i could make? Here's what I've got.

  1. Serperior, a starter I selected via a dice roll.

  2. Gigalith, trade evolutions will not be a problem.

  3. Cinccino, specifically the one with its Hidden Ability as proposed here on Reddit.

  4. Escavalier, one I've always been curious about.

  5. Dragonite, specifically the one from the Elder in Dragon's Den in Johto.

  6. Starmie, another suggestion from here on Reddit and the one special attacker I have planned at the moment.

Is this team okay? Or should I find some more special attackers like Zoroark, Sigilyph, or Vanilluxe to name a few? Thank you in advance for any advice you have to give!

Looking for Team Members (again!)

Hello, gamers! I'm kind of thinking about starting a fresh playthrough of Pokémon Black 2, and I'd really appreciate some suggestions for new team members!

I just have a few things to note.

  1. My starter is probably going to be decided by a dice roll. I did this with HeartGold recently, and it was fun! So I might do it again.

  2. Trade evolutions are welcome, as well as anything in the Platinum and HeartGold Pokédexes, but I'd mostly like a majority of the team to remain from Black 2.

  3. The only Pokémon I'd like to avoid are Azumarill, Magnezone, Krookodile, Volcarona, and Mienshao. These are team members I had from a playthrough a few years ago, and I'd love to shake it up.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions! I'd love to hear what you have to say!

[Pokémon HeartGold] My Hall of Fame Team!

I recently decided to play my very first video game, Pokémon HeartGold, but with a bit of a twist. Usually, I plan a team out from the very beginning, but this time, I let a six sided dice decide my starter, and I adapted from there! Through lots of grinding, shenanigans with the Pokéwalker, and a copy of Platinum on standby for trades evolutions, we'll be going to Kanto as Champions, all on my original copy from 2010!

This was a really challenging, but fun team to manage. Shoutouts to the dedicated HeartGold and SoulSilver Subreddit for helping me narrow down my choices!

Taking some constructive criticism on this Base Roster.

Hi! I challenged myself to make a roster like this a while back, and I think I did a decent job! I got some staples, some surprises, and a little bit of bias, but not too much. But I'm always happy to take some constructive criticism on things like this.

I'm still kind of torn of some stuff, specifically keeping Zelda's Ultimate design and the trio of Fire Emblem characters here. I wanna add Byleth back, but picking between them, Ike, and Robin is hard. So I'd love to hear some thoughts on those as well! I have some DLC choices planned like 2B, Leda, Chun-Li, Rauru, etc. But we can talk about those at a later time (or now if anyone wants.) Those choices are tough too.

Please keep in mind that I haven’t included Echo Fighters on this yet. Specifically Octoling, who I'm still torn on as to what they'd be as well. I'm more than happy to explain some of my choices at the time, all I ask is that we keep it civil, constructive, or at the very least funny. Thank you in advance!

Narrowing down Team Members for HeartGold.

Hello, everyone! A few days ago, I posted on another subreddit about how I downloaded Reddit just to ask for Team Building advice for a Pokémon HeartGold run. I figured I'd poat the follow-up on this one as well! My current team consists of a Bayleef and Togepi fresh out of Bugsy's Gym. It's time to start thinking about the rest of the players in this game.

After some careful consideration, I think I've narrowed a few candidates. Keep in mind that any of the more unusual choices listed are actually doable.

  1. Heracross ~ Probably the closest one to being locked in for the team. Once I get Headbutt, I can get one immediately. I've never used one before, and it sounds like fun!

  2. Espeon ~ I think a good Psychic-type would do nicely, and I've never been terribly bothered by friendship based evolutions.

  3. Dragonite ~ I've got lots of options in regards to getting one of these. The Game Corner, the Dragon's Den, the Pokéwalker, the Platinum save file I have on standby... I'm aware if the grind, but I really don't mind.

  4. Aerodactyl ~ I found an Old Amber at the Ruins of Alph, and all I'd need to do is trade it over to Platinum, revive it at the Mining Museum, and bring it back!

  5. Milotic ~ I used one in Platinum, and I honestly prefer it to Gyarados in Generation IV.

  6. Porygon-Z ~ LOOK AT THAT SPECIAL ATTACK.

  7. Rapidash ~ I got a Ponyta from the Pokéwalker and I thought maybe I could work with it.

  8. Scizor ~ I'd probably miss out on using Heracross for the first time, but it's very convincing.

What I'm looking for is the best combination of these choices to go with my eventual Meganium and Togekiss. So if you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them! Thanks in advance!

Downloaded Reddit just to ask for team member suggestions.

I'm planning on doing a Pokémon HeartGold run soon, and I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for team members!

● My starter is being decided by dice.

● Trade evolutions are on the table.

● Pokéwalker encounters (within reason) are on the table.

● The Platinum Pokédex is on the table just in case.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!
