Those terrain from Dungeons and Lasers are really neat
I think I need a better camera and/or set up to take pictures
One of my fellow player plays a wizard. He didn't like splendor and swapped it for dread.
I myself, before I discovered the fan made "swashbuckler" class, played a warrior with blade and grace.
But I wonder how much it's actually doable ? Are some domains combinations stronger than others ? What's your experience with this ?
You want a show about a growing insurrection ? About the struggles and hardship of a revolution ? About the human drama of giving it all to a cause ? About the banality of evil ? About how fascism grows and works ? About how you can make a difference to destroy it ?
Watch Star Wars Andor .
Probably the single best piece of star wars ever made.
I felt respected as a viewer, not treated as just a consumer. I marveled at its impeccable visual storytelling. I felt profoundly touched by its moraly complex characters. I learn about the terrible cost of fighting an empire. I got fascinated how terrifyingly competent the empire looks, and how it sets up its own downfall.
And most importantly : it inspired and motivated me. Because it's not about a legendary chosen one with a magical sword and mystical powers. It's about ordinary people, like you and me, whose names will never be written in history books, who risked everything in a hopeless fight. Because "ech act of insurrection pushes our lines forward and one day there will be one too many"
I wouldn't have done what I did without this show. Every time I watch it, I feel a renewed resolve boiling in my heart. And I hope it will help you too.
Space marines are manchild fanatic brutes. Like the SS. No nobility. They are self entitled bullies who do what they please and create unnecessary violence all around. They need supervision and something to fight otherwise they degenerate. No primaris (but phobos and gravis armor are there).
The primarchs are legends. Nobody ever saw them. There are no living primarchs in this timeline. The emperor may not be real. Nobody has proof. The golden throne is a black box which no clear purpose.
Long ago, hungry tech billionaires and their AIs went to mine the galactic core. They created corporate feudalism. The AI got jailbroken and went on their ways with all the nice techs. The AI created artificial humans devoted to them. And so the leagues of Votann were born. Just like the necrons by eldars.
The tech barons created a religious order to maintain total control over the remaining human technology, and political presence in the impeium after their fiasco. So was born the adeptus mechanicus.
Chaos space marines are astartes that lived too long. They got lost, went rogue, without leadership, and degenerated because of space travel, and genetic diseases. The black crusades do not exist. The horus heresy is a half true legend.
Chaos and the warp are a lovecraftian mystery. The immaterium is just an incomprehensible quantic mess. Nobody understands it. Many sects and religions try to make sense of all the non euclidian space time anomalies, with concepts gods and deamons. But with no proof.
Eldars believe in eternal life through the spirit stones and the infinity circuits. The seers are the only ones to provide access to those, therefore holding tremendous religious and political power.
Eldar speratists tried to find a workaround. They created artificial infinity circuits through the quantic C'Tan entities. Through biotransferance, they broke free from the spirit stones and became the Necrons. This led to a galactic civil war. Both sides, heavily ravaged by the conflict, hid from each other to lick their wounds.
Different cults, pariahs and other subfactions of the Eldar conclave became the corsairs, harlequins and dark eldar raiders we all know.
Orks and tyranids are basically the same.
The T'au guerilla is an alliance of minor xenos species, mutants, humans and abhumans, coming together to survive against the brutal oppression of the Imperium. They want everyone to unite against the tyranids. Nobody listens and they are hopelessly gripped with internal conflicts.
I have been inspired lately by the "kingdom" game mode from darkest dungeon 2.
Here would be the focus on this frame :
I need to be careful not to make something too close for the video game. What sould be avoided ? How could the daggerheart system bring to make it narratively interesting ? What kind of social encounters could I use to enrich the story ?
PS : I've been playing and GMing RPGs for 10years now. I've mostly played Fate and other narrative RPGs. I also GM the gritty OSR RPG "Forbidden Lands". I am a player in a DH campaign but never GMed one.
Characters in Vampire the Masquerade use disciplines to channel their supernatural powers. This could be translated into Daggerheart style domains.
They also have blood points, which could work like hope.
The blood dice pool can be replaced by the duality roll.
What do you think?
I tried my hand at blanchistu (RIP sir Blanche).
