New grips for my ‘78 Undercover.

Or the Lennon Blaster, whatever you want to call it. I went to a local pawn shop that I occasionally get silver from, and decided to go rifle through a bin of misc gun grips. I found these Charter Arms branded grips and $10 later, I got them. I believe they’re for a Charter Arms Bulldog, but they fit an undercover just the same, and dare I say it, feel light years better than the original grips.

Reposted because like a moron I forgot to add photos. Oops!

2nd series T38 Carbine

Picked this up for $385 at a pawn shop in Macon, GA while out of town (for context I live in SC). For all intents and purposes it’s an all matching Koshikawa T38 Carbine. I figured the price was good especially considering it still has the mum. It does have a really odd assembly number considering it is a Kanji prefix followed by a 2 digit number. I ran this by a buddy of mine who is a bit of an Arisaka know it all and he wasn’t sure what it was. What say ye, gentlemen?

Friday pawn shop find

Here’s the Model 38-2 I picked up yesterday for 3 bennies, prefix dates it to ‘92 from my research. It has some carry wear but otherwise is in fantastic shape all things considered. The only things I did were clean it and i added a Robertson T-Grip knockoff

38-2 odd numbers

Today I picked up what I presume is a later production S&W 38-2 (BKY prefix which I think dates it to 91-92?) and on the right side of the frame and inside the crane, it has these weird electro penciled numbers. Does anyone know what these are? It’s too short to be anything sensitive (e.g) a SSN but I’ve personally never seen this on a Smith before.

Swiss Vetterli

Picked this gem up for a buck and a half today. I know very little about these but was able to work out that this is a Swiss M1869 that I believe was made around 1878. All the numbers are matching which is a pleasant surprise. I don’t know much about these except from what 20 mins of googling told me, but all and all I’m happy with it!

Czech K98 sporter rescue

The other week I picked up a Czech K98 that unfortunately was in a chopped stock for a buck and a half. I ended up buying some Israeli surplus parts as placeholders until I can eventually replace them with the correct Czech parts, but for now I’m happy with it. Of course I will include before and after photos. In the deal I did get a free Spanish 1916 short rifle that I’m still hunting for a stock for but I’ll find one eventually. Yes the stock is marked 7.62 even though this rifle is in 8mm still. Shockingly the metal’s not import marked which leads me to believe it’s an interarms import or one that missed getting marked. For now though this will do well. Interestingly the butt plate on this Israeli stock and the bolt on the rifle are waffenamt marked. There is a dot in a sheld marking on the bottom of the barrel as well.

Tisas Duty

Picked this up during the Mother’s Day PSA sale (Don’t worry I got my ma something nice too!). It’s one of the newer Buford GA imports. For a hair over $300 I’m honestly really impressed! The only thing I did was swap the grips it came with for some black GI grips (later Cold War era ones with part of an NSN in both) and of course oiled it. The fact it was imported through Buford, GA is kind of neat because I grew up in Suwanee, the next town over.

1 Family ‘89 Foxbody

I wanted to share with you all the latest project of mine. This 5.0 was my childhood car and actually my high school car funnily enough too. It’s an 89 my dad bought new on Black Friday of ‘88 at Arrington Blount Ford in Lawrenceville, GA. When I was a senior in high school my dad gave me the car to drive to and from as my mom had gotten a new car and gave my dad her old one. Unfortunately it’s been off the road since 2020 due to the steering rack and transmission seals going bad, but six years later I decided to get her roadworthy again. Got all the parts to get it roadworthy again and a few “Why not while I’m under there” parts. I do plan to get the exterior redone eventually as well as redo some parts on the interior (and of course deep clean it) but for now, goal one is getting it driving again. It already runs beautifully but driving’s another story on the account of the bad seals and the power steering rack being bad. I can move it around my property to work on it so that’s a plus. I plan to leave it pretty much as it left the dealership with a few modifications (such as the ponies which I put in place of some turbines that were on it that I since sold. Originally it had 10 holes which I still have) to the exterior and interior. My dad before I was born did put 40 series flowmasters on it and a K&N cold air intake that I do plan to keep. And of course I am getting some necessary stuff for the exterior like new lights. (which in one photo you can see new rear lights I installed) Anyway I hope yall enjoyed the read and the pictures and I look forward to sharing more updates with you fellers!

Charter Arms Undercover

Got this for two Ben Franklins this morning. It’s in very gold shape all things considered. Does anyone know how to tell when these were made? I imagine this is an older one but considering this is my first Charter Arms, I know precious little about them.

Side note: why do I suddenly have an urge to go read Catcher in the Rye?

This was a fairly recent eBay find from an estate sale, a 1972 Railroad Approved 214 that I think has been barely worn given by just how great of shape it’s in. It hummed but the hands didn’t move so I sent it off to a gentleman in Texas who specializes in Accutrons and got her serviced and now it’s back home humming away and running! It’s sporting an obviously not original but I think roughly period correct Speidel leather strap. Either way I’m very pleased with it. So much so I sent my 1972 218 Calendar to him for service!
