For beginners
There are probably many posts like this but I remember being worried about this myself so I’d like to make one.
These are all things that can help in the dream itself, not inducing one. if you’re new to lucid dreaming or would like to try it, here are some things to help you. These are some ways to help have fun, but don’t rely on these entirely. I’d recommend developing your own ways, trying new methods and finding what works for you. Remember, it’s a dream so you can do anything!🥳
MYTHS.
If you’ve ever heard that if you tell someone you’re dreaming and that they’re not real they’ll stare at you creepily or something, or if you look in a mirror you’ll look creepy and disturbing, they’re just not true.
However if you’re subconsciously *expecting* to appear disturbing or that whoever you’re talking to will stare at you creepily, that may happen.
Dreams are based on expectation. don’t be worried you’ll accidentally imagine something you don’t want, instead use this fact to your advantage.
TRANSPORTATION AND PORTALS.
There’s a method (i forgot the name, my bad) where you imagine the place you want to be or where you want to go (this also works with items) behind you. This usually works better than just trying to imagine something right in front of you, because you can’t see it. You can also try this but instead just close your eyes and imagine whatever you want will be there when you open them.
Door method. If you want to change where you are, finding or visualising a door can help. Before opening the door imagine and expect your desired destination to be there, on the other side. You can also try this with corners, by imagining the place you want to be to right around a bend or wall.
Mirrors. (I haven’t tried this myself yet, but i’ve heard of this before and it sounds cool so I thought I’d mention it!)
Despite the common myth, mirrors are actually just safe and can help with teleportation. There’s a method where you treat the surface of the mirror more like water, or liquid mercury or something, visualise what you want on the other side and step through it.
CHARACTERS AND ITEMS.
If you expect and visualise an item in your pocket, like a phone, that usually works so that when you reach in it’s there. You can imagine something behind you as well, like a tent or smth for example, or even a bottle of water.
to bring characters to your dream, there’s a common method where you call them on a dream phone and tell them to come meet you. I’m pretty sure you can also use the door method on people and characters too.
there’s another method where you visualise a crowd beyond a door, behind you etc. and imagine that person or character is in that crowd and is looking/waiting for you.
FLYING AND ABILITIES.
if you’ve wanted to fly, but just haven’t been able to, try implementing extra steps, to make it feel like your actually working towards something that will result in you flying.
i’ve heard some people use charms to ‘activate’ their flying/abilities. By that I mean pretend the ability is directly linked to the item, like wearing a magic bracelet or holding a charm will let you fly, that can work, especially if you’ve done this multiple times.
(you can probably also just jump from very high with the expectation to fly, but I don’t wanna say that in case I indirectly traumatise someone and they just fall🥲)
Make sure to switch everything up every once in a while and try new, different things, since the possibilities really are endless!
Sometimes when you first become lucid in a dream, or even just doing something exciting, you might start to feel yourself wake up. Interacting with your dream reality, like touching the walls, the floor, feeling items etc. can sometimes help with this.
I’m no expert, I’d just like to say a few things I found useful in the past or would’ve liked to know sooner.
I hope these tricks improve the experience of at least one person’s lucid dreams. If you have any other tips, tricks or methods you think would be useful, please, type them in the comments!🤗
Also I’m writing this at 2am, if I’ve gotten anything wrong or missed anything, please correct me! I hope this post helps you, and good luck on your lucid journey!😆
