For beginners

There are probably many posts like this but I remember being worried about this myself so I’d like to make one.

These are all things that can help in the dream itself, not inducing one. if you’re new to lucid dreaming or would like to try it, here are some things to help you. These are some ways to help have fun, but don’t rely on these entirely. I’d recommend developing your own ways, trying new methods and finding what works for you. Remember, it’s a dream so you can do anything!🥳

MYTHS.

If you’ve ever heard that if you tell someone you’re dreaming and that they’re not real they’ll stare at you creepily or something, or if you look in a mirror you’ll look creepy and disturbing, they’re just not true.
However if you’re subconsciously *expecting* to appear disturbing or that whoever you’re talking to will stare at you creepily, that may happen.

Dreams are based on expectation. don’t be worried you’ll accidentally imagine something you don’t want, instead use this fact to your advantage.

TRANSPORTATION AND PORTALS.

There’s a method (i forgot the name, my bad) where you imagine the place you want to be or where you want to go (this also works with items) behind you. This usually works better than just trying to imagine something right in front of you, because you can’t see it. You can also try this but instead just close your eyes and imagine whatever you want will be there when you open them.

Door method. If you want to change where you are, finding or visualising a door can help. Before opening the door imagine and expect your desired destination to be there, on the other side. You can also try this with corners, by imagining the place you want to be to right around a bend or wall.

Mirrors. (I haven’t tried this myself yet, but i’ve heard of this before and it sounds cool so I thought I’d mention it!)
Despite the common myth, mirrors are actually just safe and can help with teleportation. There’s a method where you treat the surface of the mirror more like water, or liquid mercury or something, visualise what you want on the other side and step through it.

CHARACTERS AND ITEMS.

If you expect and visualise an item in your pocket, like a phone, that usually works so that when you reach in it’s there. You can imagine something behind you as well, like a tent or smth for example, or even a bottle of water.

to bring characters to your dream, there’s a common method where you call them on a dream phone and tell them to come meet you. I’m pretty sure you can also use the door method on people and characters too.

there’s another method where you visualise a crowd beyond a door, behind you etc. and imagine that person or character is in that crowd and is looking/waiting for you.

FLYING AND ABILITIES.

if you’ve wanted to fly, but just haven’t been able to, try implementing extra steps, to make it feel like your actually working towards something that will result in you flying.

i’ve heard some people use charms to ‘activate’ their flying/abilities. By that I mean pretend the ability is directly linked to the item, like wearing a magic bracelet or holding a charm will let you fly, that can work, especially if you’ve done this multiple times.

(you can probably also just jump from very high with the expectation to fly, but I don’t wanna say that in case I indirectly traumatise someone and they just fall🥲)

Make sure to switch everything up every once in a while and try new, different things, since the possibilities really are endless!

Sometimes when you first become lucid in a dream, or even just doing something exciting, you might start to feel yourself wake up. Interacting with your dream reality, like touching the walls, the floor, feeling items etc. can sometimes help with this.

I’m no expert, I’d just like to say a few things I found useful in the past or would’ve liked to know sooner.
I hope these tricks improve the experience of at least one person’s lucid dreams. If you have any other tips, tricks or methods you think would be useful, please, type them in the comments!🤗

Also I’m writing this at 2am, if I’ve gotten anything wrong or missed anything, please correct me! I hope this post helps you, and good luck on your lucid journey!😆

How can I change the pressure sensitivity?

This is just the regular round brush I‘m editing.

Is there a way to make the lightest pressure completely transparent or close to that? And a way to make the high pressure completely opaque.

  1. is probably the lightest you can do.

  2. is normal, if you were doing your base colours or smth you’d probably press this hard

  3. is high pressure

  4. is absolute maximum pressure.

if anyone knows what to do or if it’s possible, thank you!🙏🥲

(Btw I made sure the minimum opacity in “properties” is at 0%)

This might help with transportation and control in your dream

I’ve had lucid dreams before, at least 10, but I’ve always had trouble changing the place is was in and bringing different things to my dream. However yesterday I found a way that worked for me.

i was in my house, and I completely forgot about how you “shouldn’t look in mirrors” in your dreams, and went right up to one. For some reason I asked “mirror, mirror on the wall” and then said what I wanted it to do, for example “take me to ___” or “bring ___ here” and it WORKED.

That was the first time I was able to change the place my dream started in, probably because I was expecting it to work.

Also I first gained lucidity in this dream from doing reality checks, I realised I had 6 fingers and became lucid.

i hope this works for you too!

Any animes like these?😀

looking for animes like Ranma1/2, Ohshc, Kamisama kiss, spy x family🤗 Animes that give off the same VIBE yk? (idk how to do bold on Reddit I’m sorry😢)
I like romance and comedy, but an anime with only one of these would still be good too.

I like strong (not necessarily physically idk how to explain😫)female leads yk? I didn’t mind kimi ni todoke but the pacing wasn’t great and there was too much miscommunication it was frustrating😓😓I like well written male leads too, not superrr nonchalant but also not super chalant and angry all the time.😶I also dont like too much fanservice.

i’m thinking of watching inuyasha and fruits basket but i dont know that many other animes like the ones ive mentioned.😔

(also haven’t seen that many animes so feel free to mention “basic” recommendations🤫

Thank you! 🥹🤗

Sudden blurry vision in one eye

Hi so I realised today I have blurry vision in one eye but not in the other, which is strange because it has never been like this before and it won’t go away. I tried blinking, eye drops, cleaning my eye etc. still not returning to normal. it’s been like this for the whole day so far.

i‘m kind of worried but no one in my family has any eye issues and i am very young.

Is this permanent? and what could be the cause?

I don’t know if this matters but i am a side sleeper, and recently i’ve been really behind on sleep because of work.

The blurriness is especially bad with things far away. Again, it’s only in one eye and I’ve never had issues before. Does anyone know why?😭

▲ 5 r/ugly

I feel so ugly all the time.

I’m ugly. I broke my nose and jaw a few years ago and now my face, despite it already being really asymmetrical prior to these incidents, is now even wonkier. I hate my face and looks. my nose healed in an odd way so there’s a large bump on the left side. I have a big chin and my jaw shifted over to the right so now my face looks even MORE imbalanced and disproportionate than it used to be.

ive really been struggling, especially lately, with my appearance.

My left eye is also naturally like half a centimetre higher than my right eye. I could go on but I dont want this to be all I talk about.

I just hate being ugly so much. Whenever I DO talk to people about things like this, they dismiss it and say something like “life isn’t about your appearance, it’s what’s inside that matters.” or “just learn to accept yourself.”

Everyone acts so patronising, as if saying life isn’t about beauty makes them feel noble or just. They don’t even try to understand at all, especially when they haven’t experienced it first hand.

The fact is, in this society, beauty matters a lot, if not the most. If you’re not conventionally attractive or don’t live up to the standards, you’re treated rudely and dismissively, and even if you aren’t, people are only nice to you out of pity, or because they feel like they’re doing a good deed by hanging out with the ugly person.

I get all the looks people give. Condescending snorts, raised eyebrows, eye rolls etc.

i really truly hate being ugly so much. I was always unattractive, but since the injuries it’s gotten even worse. I can’t look at people when I talk to them, not even my friends. I can’t talk to anyone or make eye contact, I avoid reflections, taking pictures, social media etc. I don’t even want to go outside anymore, i hate people staring at me. It’s embarrassing and humiliating and I feel extra vulnerable.

I feel so hideous and disgusting all the time. I feel guilty like I’m the one following my friends around, like that one person who isn’t in the friend group but hangs around (unwelcomed) anyway. My friends are nice people, if that’s really what has been happening this whole time I honestly wouldn’t be that surprised as they’re not the confrontational type.

i feel unlovable, and not in the dramatic way, I really do feel like no one could genuinely enjoy my company. To be completely honest I probably wouldn’t even want to hang around with myself if I could help it.

This sounds cringe and self centred, but whenever I think about how I look, I want to cry. I feel like I’m always on the verge of tears, because I know there’s nothing I can do about my appearance so I’m stuck looking like this.

Anyways, this narcissistic rant was much longer than I expected it to be. I don’t really expect anyone to read this, it just felt a bit better to type everything out. If you did, thanks for listening.
