Progressive Bifocals

I’m 26 and just picked up my first pair of glasses with progressive bifocals. For one everything is so CRISPY, it’s absolutely amazing 😻 but my apps and my phone look HUGE??! Am I looking through the lens wrong? How long does it take to learn how to use them?

anyone who is aware of multifocal choroidits in eye? Is it a problem? It happened I don’t know when in childhood but it got healed. I have scars of it. Anyone know what going to happen if I go for medicals?

15M – Eye sight rapidly getting worse from 10+ hours of phone use. Text is blurry even at arm's length. What should I do?

Hey everyone,I’m 15 years old and I’m in a really bad situation with my eyesight. For a while now, I’ve been using my phone for over 10+ hours every single day.My eyesight started getting bad enough that I had to get glasses last year. But since then, my vision has just kept getting worse and worse. Right now, it is getting scary. I had to turn the text size on my phone up to MAX just to read it, but even at arm's length, the screen is still quite blurry. My last eye exam was about a year ago. I know I need to see a doctor, but I’m really stressed out.Is this permanent, or is it just extreme muscle fatigue/strain from the 10+ hours of screen time? Can my eyes still recover if I cut down my screen time right now?Are there treatments that can stop this from getting worse while my eyes are still growing? (Eventually, I want to get LASIK when I'm older, so I don't want my prescription to get too bad to qualify).I don't really have hobbies outside of my phone, so any advice on how to handle this or what to tell my parents would be heavily appreciated. Thank you.

Is lasik worth it for me? (Pros cons?)

I’m F22, I’ve worn glasses since I was about 8 for distance. I struggle seeing objects, words, faces from far away. I hate wearing my glasses, often will take them off when using my phone up close.

I have astigmatism in my right eye -5.00 and my left eye is -4.75 and I currently work as a nurse.

I’ve always wanted to go through with it but some people have thrown me off it saying that they’ve needed reading glasses again a few years down the line, or have constant floaters and light sensitivity.

Monocular Vision Study Still Looking for Participants

Hi, Everyone!

I have made a few similar posts about this topic. Sharing this info again as this study is still looking for people who would like to volunteer as a participant.

My name is Stefania Moro and I am a research scientist and professor at York University in Toronto, Canada. In general, our lab (https://steeves.lab.yorku.ca) is interested in better understanding how visual and auditory perception has changed over time in people who have had one eye removed. We are also interested in seeing how their brain has developed and changed after the loss of an eye.

Currently, we are conducting an online study with 2 different activities that are geared towards helping understand the impact eye removal has on audiovisual perception and we would love for you to participate.

Our study consists of a brief survey, followed by 2 online activities where you will be asked to respond using your keyboard to what you see and hear on your computer screen. In total, the study will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and is conducted entirely online.

To participate:

  • Please use a computer, either desktop or laptop (the use of a tablet or cell phone will not work).
  • Please use headphones or earbuds with your volume turned up to a comfortable hearing level.
  • Google Chrome browser is needed.

When you are ready, click on this link:

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Is LASIK surgery worth it?

I just passed my 45th birthday and have been wearing glasses/contact lenses since the third grade. Everytime I get a new pair of glasses it's the same old headache. The glasses are too tight around the ears or the glasses are too loose and slide down my nose, the opticians always give me a difficult time adjusting the glasses, etc etc.

This time around I had my glasses custom made and still they slide down my nose. $650 down the drain. Not to mention, I told him the optician, the Eyezen is making the lenses blurry on the sides of the lenses. He wanted to send me back to the doctor but I said it seems like a flaw with the lenses. Something's wrong with them. He then threw the ole, "well apparently you know my job better than me", and basically asked me to leave. I resisted and said I have another pair of glasses to try on. The second pair with the same prescription worked fine, however, that pair didn't have the Eyezen because they were sunglasses.

I'm tired of this nonsense. I can't be bothered with going in every two years, spending all this money on glasses that don't fit, and now the lenses are wonky. I wear glasses for distance (near-sighted). Does LASIK surgery actually work or is it hit or miss? I'd hate to go spend all that money just to have it only be 75% affective and back to wearing glasses again.

Sudden Blurry Vision in Right Eye

Hello everyone!

I've been experiencing sudden blurry vision in only my right eye for about a year and a half or so, I think. This started out of nowhere, I've always had perfect vision my entire life, never needed glasses or any vision aids. I am 27 now, this started towards the latter end of my 25th year.

I saw a eye doctor at a vision clinic, and the only thing they told me was that my eyes looked a little bit dry and they gave me a very minor prescription for glasses. The blurriness tends to come and go, but lately it's been more constant. The glasses do help.

I guess I'm just wondering if it is common to see sudden vision changes in your late 20s, and if I'm worried about a problem when in fact I'm just getting older. Any advice would be helpful!

Has long-term Meta Quest use affected your eyesight? Genuine question

Hey everyone, I recently got a Quest 3 and I’m loving it, but I’ve been wondering about the long-term effects on eye health.

For those of you who’ve been using it regularly for a year or more, have you noticed any changes in your vision? Things like:

- Needing glasses or a stronger prescription after regular use
- Eye strain or headaches becoming more frequent
- Blurry vision after taking the headset off
- Any other symptoms your eye doctor flagged

I know screens in general aren’t great for your eyes, but VR feels different since the lenses are so close to your face. Curious if anyone has actual long-term experience with this, or if it turned out to be a non-issue.

Thanks!

Reading from phone or tablet causes blurriness that lasts hours.

About two years ago, I started having dry eye but I don't think that's the cause of this problem.

Problem: If I read from a book, paper or regular laptop screen, I'm okay. If I read from a phone or tablet for over 10 minutes, I'm done seeing well for the day. Only some sleep will reset my eyes back to good again.

I've seen a couple well-thought-of eye doctors that could not figure this out. Yes I have some dry eye and use drops but this came after the dry eye which was manageable.

It's bad enough that I can't drive safely after using the phone or tablet. To stay more or less safe, I don't drive once this starts up, but does anyone out here have anything similar? Could be a bad case of CES (Computer eye strain) or maybe dry eye?.

I've taken to doing the 20-20-20 thing where you shift your eyes to a focal point 20 feet away for twenty seconds to keep in focus but that's only an iffy solution.

According to doctors I don't have any huge apocalyptic eye problems, but they're sometimes wrong. I have no idea right now. I'm basically off phones and tables because this is the only solution I've found.
