I made an app for people with dry eyes from screen work

Hey r/windowsapp! I built iBlink, an app for people whose eyes feel dry, tired, or strained after long screen sessions. First built for myself.

It uses your webcam to monitor your blink rate in real time and gives gentle on-screen reminders only when you’re blinking less than usual. We partner with clinics and optometrists across North America who love recommending it to their patients!

Everything happens locally on your PC, no video is recorded, stored, or sent to a server. The webcam frames are analyzed in real time and immediately discarded.

There’s a quick calibration step so it can adapt to your eye shape and lighting, and a 7-day free trial with no credit card required.

Issues when reading white text on black background on pc.

So I've been having issues when viewing white text on black backgrounds on my computer. as when I focus on the text the edges seem to blur almost? It makes it frustrating to look at it as it's hard for me to read the text, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to help with this phenomenon? I'm sorry if this doesn't fit within the purview of this Subreddit.

Sudden loss of vision on my left eye

I woke up this morning and my vision was fine until I sat down for breakfast and I started to see white clouds and flickering lights kinda of swimming across my vision. I thought I was imagining things but now I see grey shadows in my peripheral vision, but only in my left eye. I also have trouble focusing in on texts and objects and I naturally start to see things in double. I stood in front of a mirror to see if there was anything in my eye, but I see for a moment but I feel something rushing up inside of my head then the left side of my face just gets covered by this big, grey shadow. I’m seeing all kinds of things on Google but what do you think it could be? I have an eye doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon anyway so I think it can wait but I wanted to get other opinions.

22 years of Monitoring

I was told 22 years ago that I have retinal tear due to high myopia. I also had scar tissues in my eyes from cataract surgery 30 some years ago. I am 74 now.

Have been under the care of a group of ophthalmologists. I went in two or three times a year.for more than 20 years. They did various tests and took pictures of the back of my eyes. They are watchful for potential tears, possibly glaucoma, but have not done one thing. No eye drops, no surgery, no recommendation, no medication. The only thing my retinal specialist each time after looking at the pictures was ‘You have a lot of scar tissues… See you next year!’

Is that normal?

Eye problems worse after redo MVD

Before my MVD, my right eye was in terrible pain. The pain was centralized in the temple. My eye would dry up and there's a pain behind and in front of my eye.

I did an MVD and it made it feel better slightly. We did a redo MVD recently and now it's gotten way worse.

I don't know what to do or where to go. Should I see a neuroopthamologist? I've seen an ophthalmologist but no help at all.

I feel the need to blink all the time

22F, 170cm/ 5'6, 115kg/ 250lbs

No medication, I don't smoke or take substances

Hi, for 2 weeks now I have been having trouble with excessive blinking. In the beggining I didn't notice it but I felt it hurts. After other people told me I was blinking too much I noticed it aswell. In the start I just felt pain in the eyes and thought it would pass, but now it's getting worse and I feel as if I have to be blinking all the time because it's uncomfortable otherwise. Sometimes I'm blinking literally all the time. The area around eyes hurts aswell, I'm guessing it's muscles because I'm literally pressing my eyes shut. Also I can't cry, I tried to but things that usually make me cry can't anymore. Eyes are a bit watery but no tears falling.

I also tried keeping them open on purpose but then it starts burning.

For the past week I've been using Thealoz duo eyedrops and it helps for few minutes and eyes don't burn anymore but very soon it's all over again. And even if it doesn't burn I still feel the need to blink. It's better in the morning but as the day goes on it hurts more and more and in the evening it gets unbearable.

It started when I went on sea vacation, also the AC was on all the time but I don't think it has to do with that because usually I'm fine with AC. Apartment was also very dusty so maybe that too. I noticed it gets worse when I start stressing about things, but I'm not under that much stress. I used to be under more stress and it didn't cause this, although I am quite anxious person.

Please help, it's sooo uncomfortable. I feel as if I want to take my eyes out:(

PLEASE HELP! Vision is still unstable 3 months after a chemical burn

HELP! I gave myself a chemical burn 3 months ago from a lash glue, and I'm still having trouble with vision.

When I walk outside, it's feels like someone electrocuted my eyeballs. I see shimmery, vibrating almost colorful like glitter. I've seen an optometrist, ophthalmologist and a neuro ophthalmologist and they all say my eyes look PERFECT. The
ophthalmologist suggested | keep using preservative free eye drops every 2 hours. I was on a round of eye steroids, and was told to discontinue. That was two months ago.

My eyes always feel dry and I feel like I can rinse my eyes in water for hours because it feel SO good (obviously I don't rinse it for hours). I also sleep with an ice pack over my eyes at times.
Please HELP! is this normal after receiving a chemical burn?? Everyone is saying I'm healed but I don't feel like it!

How can I stop myopia from getting worse? What should I do now?

I just turned 18, and my vision suddenly feels worse in both eyes. My left eye was previously around -0.50 when I had it checked about a week ago, but over the past week, I've started feeling like my vision has gotten worse. It feels like it might now be around -1.00 or something and now my right eye feels slightly blurry too.

How can I stop this from getting worse, or is there any way to cure it naturally?

Sudden severe vision change

About 5 days ago, my husbands right eye got really blurry within a matter of hours. We went to the eye doctor on Thursday and his vision in the right eye is significantly worse than it was before. It went from a -0.5 to a -3.25. The Optos scan showed nothing wrong with the back of his eye and the only thing the optometrist could see is that his cornea is hazy. She prescribed antibiotic eye drops and said to come back in a week or sooner if it gets worse or go to the ER if they are not open. He started the eye drops on Thursday night and it’s Sunday now with no change in vision. His vision in his right eye is still very blurry and he can only see things clearly when they are a few inches from his face. He had no redness or any signs of infection before, just the significant change in vision. I’m very concerned that if it’s not an infection, we are wasting time and not accurately treating something that could become permanent. Has anyone experienced this or something similar to this before?

Need help with glasses prescription

So the glasses I currently have are L -1.0 and R -0.25, but since like a year ago I’ve been wearing them less and less and then the last couple of months not at all. I recently went to see a movie and had to wear them and I had a horrible headache so I figured I have to go to the eye doctor now. The first photo is a normal ?scan? and the second one is after those eye drops. The doctor told me after that my glasses are too strong which is crazy cause I figured after a year of my right eye doing most of the work my eyesight had gotten worse. Is it possible that I just picked lenses that were too strong when at the optometrist a few years ago? Or that my eyesight improved? Or that maybe my irises are so tense normally that it makes me see worse? Sorry if this is not well written English is not my first language.

bright spot in my visual field

For the past six months, I have noticed a roughly circular bright area in the visual field of my left eye, approximately 1–2 cm in diameter. It becomes noticeable when I blink and also when looking at a white background, particularly when the eye moves. It is only present in my left eye.

An ophthalmologist dilated my pupils and examined my eyes but could not find a cause. It is not a floater and does not move with my gaze. It resembles the visual phenomenon you get after looking at the sun, when you have a bright spot or afterimage in your field of vision.

Any related symptoms? What to do?

I looked at the eclypse without glasses (please read before making fun of me)

I went to see the eclypse today, I was very careful and wore the eclypse glasses everytime i looked at the sun. However, I have tourettes (tourettic ocd) and accidentally turned my head several times towards the sun when it was covered halfway and right after totality. What are the chances that I'll go blind? Am i cooked?

Anyone with similar experiences?

Context: 22F, recently got diagnosed with lattice degeneration.

I noticed a small flash in my peripheral vision one night a while ago ( can’t remember how long, I think last year at some point) I didn’t think much of it, just thought it was weird but I wear contacts and just thought maybe a weird vision thing since my eyes aren’t technically perfect anyways. I hardly noticed it ever and if it did it was in the dark and very quickly. Fast forward to February of 2026, I figured I should call the eye doctor and ask. I go yearly and I guess since they didn’t see anything wrong in 2025 I just didn’t think much of it.

I go in, he dilates me and tells me I have lattice degeneration. At first he didn’t even notice it but then checked again and saw it. He said it’s something to monitor and that I could go see a retinal specialist.

I go see a retinal specialist in my area and she wants to do barrage laser on the spot since I’m seeing a flash. I go back two months later and get the laser done. ( wasn’t a bad experience at all!) but I still see the flash every now and then. She told me it might not go away.

Does anyone else experience flashes in their peripheral? I’m just heavily concerned for my future and what this means since it’s tugging on my retina I guess. I have really bad heath anxiety and honestly cry about this at least once a week since May. Anyone have any similar experiences? please try and give positive responses so I don’t cry more lol.. thanks

Two friends of mine decided to stack 5 sunglasses together to go watch the eclipse...would that protect them from retinal damage?

I'm honestly shocked cuz they are both visual artists so why would you even take the risk instead of buying real eclipse glasses?
