What does prolonged eye contact mean?

I'm confused about a guy's behavior and would like some outside opinions. At first, he seemed to focus mostly on one particular girl and made a lot of eye contact with her. Then, for several days, his attention shifted to me. Whenever he spoke in a group or during discussions, he would maintain prolonged eye contact with me for a long time without looking anywhere else, and he even started copying the way I spoke or expressed certain things. I also noticed that he sometimes observed me closely, but whenever I caught him looking, he would often quickly look away. Then, after what I believe was a misunderstanding between us, everything changed. He suddenly started giving his attention to everyone else except me and acted as if I didn't exist. I'm not assuming he liked me—I just don't understand why someone's behavior changed so drastically. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what might explain this?

Unexplained poor vision

Hello everyone,

For a few years I have had poor vision even when corrected. Objects further than about 50 cm are blurry, and above a few meters very blurry. I went to an ophthalmologist and despite doing a full check, they said the eyes and prescription were fine. But clearly, something isn't fine; it's like my prescription is 1 or 2 diopters off! They suggested it might be dryness, but 8 months of the 20/20/20 rule, daily eyedrops and anti-blepharitis gel haven't helped at all. I'd even say the severity is worsening. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I fear that no matter how many ophthalmologists or optometrists I go to, they will dismiss it and not help.

Strange splotches in vision

This has been plaguing me for years. Every time I step into sunlight, the center of my vision is filled with these moving splotches of darkness. They’re not very dark, but they’re there. They move in a pattern towards the very center of my vision. It happens when I step outside and it’s bright. I have yet to get an answer. Does anyone know?

Seeing stars a lot, is it normal?

I’ve noticed for awhile but more frequently that when I look out of the corner of my eyes or try to look behind me I see stars. Is this normal eye strain or something I should actually be bringing up to my doctor?

Baby diagnosed with strabismus and hyperopia

Hi all, I’m new here as I’m looking to educate myself and hear about people’s experiences that had strabismus from infancy.
My baby is 5.5 months old and since he was born we could tell his eyes were sometimes not aligning properly but we wanted to wait a little before looking into it in case it was just developmental.
Long story short we just had our ophthalmologist appointment yesterday where they confirmed that our little one has intermittent strabismus and also +3.5 hyperopia on both eyes. They recommended glasses for a few months until he turns 1 and then surgery to fix the strabismus. Doc said it’s unlikely the glasses alone could correct the alignment, and I believe she also said it’s probably due to a tight muscle in combination with the hyperopia that causes the eyes to turn.
However, she also noticed that one eye doesn’t turn all the way to his ear when prompted, instead he will try to turn his head. She said she doubts it’s anything neurological however she would want him to have a head MRI to rule it out completely. This will need to be done under general anaesthesia which is also worrying me a lot due to his age.
Just for extra info, baby’s eyes are aligned a lot of the time and it seems like he can see fine, as he will react to us no matter how far or close to him we’re sitting. Sometimes however he will either squint like the photo or one of his eyes might turn inwards.

Please share your experiences as I am a very worried mama and I obviously want the best for my baby. What was your experience with infant strabismus? Glasses from such a young age? Strabismus surgery? Head MRI? 😔

Left eye swollen and painful for 5 years-multiple eye doctors only say it's dry eye

Hello everyone,

I've been getting my eyes checked regularly every few months. I wear glasses with a prescription of -4.00 for my myopia, and I also have dry eyes, so I've been using carboxymethyl cellulose sodium eye drops as recommended.

The issue is that my left eye has looked swollen for about the past 5 years. I've seen multiple eye doctors, but every time they tell me it's just dry eye and to continue using the lubricating drops.

However, the outer corner/edge of my left eye (the area I've marked in the picture) is often painful and feels swollen, even if it doesn't always look very obvious. Lately, I've also started noticing what seems to be a slight hypotropia (the left eye appears to sit a little lower than the right).

Since this has been going on for years and doesn't seem to be improving, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or has any idea what else could cause these symptoms. Has anyone had a condition that was initially mistaken for dry eye?

I'm not looking for a diagnosis—just wondering if there are any conditions I should ask my eye doctor to evaluate or whether I should seek a different type of specialist.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Parkinsons - Eye Movement

My husband who has Parkinsons w/LBD woke up today with a crossed eye. That's never happened before and it went back into place after a few minutes, so I was wondering if this is a thing. He does wear glasses and it's been awhile since his last eye checkup. He doesn't read regularly unless I draw his attention to something online or in a magazine, and most of the time he's looking down (partly due to his posture being hunched over).

Another thing that happened today (probably unrelated but never happened in the morning), he asked me where his wife was. When he does this I say, look up. He looked at me then and said, oh, of course I was just kidding. Then he headed upstairs. I asked why and he said, to see if my wife is still there.

I know this is only going to get worse over time, he only recently began sundowning. But the crossed eye was worrying and no one has mentioned it before in any of the posts I viewed. He doesn't take parkinsons meds like levodopa as he doesn't get tremors.

I know there's a change in depth perception but has anyone ever heard whether parkinsons affects the eyes in other ways?

Do all eye floaters = retinal tear?

Hi guys,

I’m 24F and have been dealing with eye floaters for I’d say a couple of months now. I can’t really pinpoint when they started but I do feel as though I’ve had them for a while. They have became more noticeable for me lately and it’s making me anxious that I have a retinal tear. I recently stoped an SSRI medication that helped my anxiety, so I’m wondering if that’s why I’m noticing the floaters more now? I also work outside in a bright environment. The main thing though, is I have a pretty large floater in my peripheral vision and it annoys me. It does move up and down when I look around so I know it’s a floater. I notice my eye floaters mainly while driving and outside. It’s weird, when I wear my glasses they’re kind of not as noticeable? But I don’t wear my glasses often… they annoy me and I’d like to get contacts. My prescription is OD Sphere -1.00, Cyl, -0.25, Axis 103.. OS Sphere 0.25, -0.50, Axis 100. I have literally no clue what any of that means 😂

Besides all of that, if anyone has had experience with a retinal tear or detachment.. I was wondering, do you see the floaters 24/7? Like indoors? Or in dark rooms? Because I have no floaters in those scenarios. Even looking at my phone right now, a bright screen, I don’t see any. It’s just very bothersome outside. I have seen an eye doctor a few months ago but I started to have a panic attack when it came to getting my eyes dilated, and so we did the optomap instead. I have provided those photos. He said he didn’t see anything but of course said a dilation would show the edges of my eyes. Any advice?

Eye issue

When I was about 45; my doctor told me to have my eyes checked up! Just a routine check due to my age, as I was not experiencing any issues.

I went to an eye doctor, an optometrist. Turned out that I am losing vision in my left eye and it is 75% functional, I was given prescription eyeglasses. She also referred me to a specialist, trying to figure out the issues with my left eye, which she was thinking could be related to my diabetes (I have type two diabetes).

Specialist checked my eyes and said I need to control my diabetes! No resolution provided.

I didn’t really like the way they handled it. Discussed with my doctor and referred to an Ophthalmologist. She and a Retina Specialist examined my eyes, said my left eye was defective since I was born and not sure why it is acting up now. Both confirmed that there is no sign of diabetes in my eyes. Poor vision is the result of defective eye that is not producing enough tears, and it is drying inside. I was told to use artificial tears, and no other solution given.

I am now seeing both the Ophthalmologist and the retina now once a year. Things have not been changed in my left eye, no diabetes in eyes yet. No additional medication or surgery, just regular artificial tears to use.

My optometrist also checks the eyes once a year and changes the power of the eyeglasses. Last check says no improvement or significant difficulties in vision.

Now my questions are ….

Is this something that cannot be fixed? No surgery, no actual medication?
Should I keep seeing my Ophthalmologist and the Retina Specialist, and pay them a lot of money if they can’t do anything about it?
Not seeking specific medical advice, just gathering others’ experiences and expertise. Thank you!

Eyes with different contact prescriptions

I've been wearing glasses since elementary school, and I just got contacts a few months ago. I see SIGNIFICANTLY worse in my left eye, but my prescription for that eye is 1.75, while my prescription for my right eye is 2.25. I feel like I see worse now than with my old prescription glasses. I'm having to strain my eyes to read my monitors at work. In fact, while wearing my contacts and closing my left eye, I see better, but when I close my right eye I can't see at all (can't even read my phone screen right in front of my face). When I took my eye exam it was very clear I couldn't see out of my left eye.

I don't know if this is normal to give a weaker prescription to the weaker eye? I bought half a year of these contacts because I thought they were working fine, and I don't want to get refitted if this is normal.

My Eye Power is -17 (High Myopic Eyes), Here is My Sad Story, Need Some Help with Solutions

At age of 9, I started to wear Power Glass meanwhile I wasn't sure about and Don't Know my Power at that Time, later on My Power Got Increased and I Bought New Glasses according to the Prescription, and Especially During Lockdown (COVID-19 Quarantine) of 2 years, My Power Got Increased Drastically, and At the age of 14 I got again a New Glass of Prescribed Power and Later on Slowly at 3rd year of using it, I'm unable to see distant objects clearly and At age of 17, I consulted a Optician and I got to know that My Power was Previously -14 (as Total Power of Both the Eyes) , Even I TRIED to Get rid of glasses and Shift to Lenses but For My Power It wasn't Possible as Said By Doctors and Opticians and I still wore My Previously Prescribed Power Glass of -14 Temporarily and One Day I Consulted A Doctor and They Got Shocked Checking My Power which was -17, a High Myopic Ever, Later At I felt Very Depressed, Inferior, Degraded, where just one glass Hide My overall Character, Face and I'm Behind a A GLASS, I felt Insecured like without Glasses I'm unable to See Clearly Almost Nothing I can see which is Extremely Worst that None of them that I KnowHad These Extreme Eye Power and I Felt Bad that How Can I Survive without Glasses, I'm COMPLETELY DEPENDENT ON ONLY MY POWER GLASS OF -17 and Now My Age is 18 still I'm worried and Feeling Inferior About It As A Male

So I have Some Questions to Ask,

  1. Is wearing Power Glasses Increase the Power (Worse. even More) ?

  2. If I Stopped Wearing Specs at Beginning itself and Just seeing through my Naked Eye would have Been a Better Option ?

  3. I'm hating Wearing Power Glasses of -17 that Makes me Recessive, Hide My Originality, I couldn't Express Myself, It Degrades My Face, My Beauty, My Character, Myself Overall, I felt Insecured About that and Inferior About that...

  4. Is there anyway to get back to normal and Get rid of Wearing Glasses

  5. I even Felt How Could I Survive without Power Glass of -17, I'm Dependent on Glasses, I'm Almost Nothing without Power Glasses...

  6. Is there any Natural Way to Overcome wearing Power Glasses..

  7. How did the Ancient People Survived and Managed with Eye Power

What Should I do.., Please Do Consider and Give Me Some Solutions for This...and Do Share Your Experiences, Thoughts about Wearing Glasses and Without Glasses, and People those don't Have Eye Power

(PLEASE IGNORE IF YOU FIND ANY GRAMMATIC ERRORS)

Computer/ Phone use makes my vision go blurry

This is honestly a cry for help because idk what do anymore. The biggest issue is I feel like I will lose my job eventually. In January 2026 I started getting really bad light sensitivity and blurry vision/ trouble reading blocks of text on my computer. I took 4 weeks off work and things slowly started to get better except the light sensitivity. I begged for a neurologist referral and after being declined 3 times I got one. I went to see her and was diagnosed with migraines (even though I don’t get classic migraines ever). My light sensitivity was so bad when I would work on my computer I would ball my eyes out all day because the pain was unbearable. I had panic attacks everyday, woke up and immediately went to throw up because I was so anxious, etc. I was prescribed medication and the pain/ sensitivity eventually started to go down. Just when I thought things were getting better about 4 weeks ago one day my vision started to go really blurry on the computer again but also when reading anything off the computer, menus, grocery store items, etc. I went to every doctor/ specialist possible and no one can see anything wrong. I have been off work again for 4 weeks and this time my vision has not gotten better and feels like it is getting worse. I work an all day computer job and just being on my phone for 10 minutes is near impossible. I have run out of people to see/ talk to and am feeling really hopeless. If anyone has any experience or ideas please let me know.

I am constantly getting something in my eyes! It’s so irritating.

No pun intended. Does anyone else have this problem? IDK if it’s dust or lint. And lately it’s mainly my right eye and it’s been burning. I try to rinse it out in the shower but it doesn’t normally work.

Is this normal?

Context: I got red eye, or pink eye, whatever you call it, for almost a week now and it still hasn't disappeared. Just now, I started to notice that there are kind of bubbles or white-yellowish things in my eye, which are circled there. Can someone tell me if this is normal?

M23 does a 10° axis difference matter for high prescriptions?

I recently received a prescription for high myopia (-8.5D, -0.75 cyl previouse one was just -6.75D from 5 years ago). I felt like the first ophthalmologist was in a rush, so I decided to get a second opinion. Both doctors prescribed the same sphere and cylinder, but the axis for my left eye differed: the first one was 170° and the second was 160°.

I chose to go with the 160° prescription, and I’ve been wearing these glasses for two days now. I’m feeling eye strain on left eye and a sensation that my right eye is more dominant.

Is a 10° difference in axis significant for such a prescription? Should I be able to notice a clear difference in visual clarity? Also, could wearing glasses with an incorrect axis cause any permanent eye damage? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

are my eyes ok

I went to an eye doctor a bit ago because I’ve been noticing varying symptoms that are seemingly worsening but the doctor kinda just brushed off my concerns looked at my eyes and said they’re healthy but they really don’t feel healthy and anxiety is not subsiding so I just want to list some of these symptoms I’ve been experiencing for a few months and hope someone can give me some guidance

so I’ve always had astigmatism but I feel like it’s gotten worse, distant bright lights glow dramatically and have a ring of stretching lines
I feel so sensitive to lights I feel overstimulated by the end of the day and my eyes feel strained often times especially outside and it doesn’t help I live in a desert state and I have a history of horrible migraines that I believe are mostly caused my light exposure oddly though they’ve slowed down in my late teenage years as well as chronic headaches I used to have effectively constantly
Lights also leave stains in my vision in the shape of the light- not even lights on the brighter end just generally like when I’m watching tv and look away at my ceiling I can see the shape of the tv as an odd shadow and when there’s high contrast between lighting and shadows the same thing happens and if I get a glimpse of a particularly bright light it stays in my vision for a bit relative to the brightness and room contrast
When I close my eyes and cover them with my hand to block all light I often see bright shapes that slowly dissipate- there are multiple types though- some are light induced as mentioned, some are just vaguely colored blobs that move around and fade and these I always see as I’m trying to go to sleep, some are flashing outlines of circles that spread to the peripherals and eventually disappear sometimes they last longer than other times and sometimes there’s a lot or not much they’re not always circles though that’s just a common shape but regardless of shape they do the same thing, and some are small white dots that only exist for a moment but are effectively always appearing I can usually see a couple at a time
sometimes I struggle to focus on things but not like my vision is blurry I don’t need a prescription if I’m focusing on something I see just fine I just get distracted by vague movement in my vision that’s a staticy feeling mostly in the center of my vision and sometimes it’s more intense than other times maybe if I look at something specific like when I look at my closed blinds while it’s light out and there’s some light shining through the blinds then I look at the wall next to it the static intensifies dramatically but not for long and other distractions include occasional splotches of color appearing in my peripherals and deep black or bright white shapes appearing briefly also in my peripherals and eye floaters have become incredibly prominent in sunlight as well as small black circler floaters that started showing up a couple months ago those haven’t really progressed though and when I told my doctor he said it was just protein build ups but I’m afraid they’re part of my retina
sometimes I see horizontal lines in my vision as well like when I’m reading large text on a screen such as this post but they can appear without any apparent reason however not often
something I’ve struggled with since I was young is my eyes falling out of focus and I have to bring them back to focus I have gotten better at controlling that though but feeling like I constantly have to keep them in focus adds to the straining feeling
and this is maybe not entirely related but since im saying all this might as well be, I have a very difficult time sleeping i said earlier i see colorful blobs moving around my vision while im trying to sleep and when i do fall asleep its hard to stay asleep if im not excessively tired and I especially struggle through rem sleep even if I still feel very tired and all thought the day and ias m trying to get to sleep my eyes twitch open as i keep them closed and i usually have to push my brows down somehow to keep them relaxed and closed this doesn’t happen for a while after i wake up though and starts as my eyes adjust
Most of these symptoms are at their peek near bedtime and after i wake up and i have made lifestyle changes the biggest one I haven’t that I feel is hindering me is screen time especially at night but I’ve been working it however with all change these symptoms have not really subsided ever
this is all the information I can think of right now but if I think of other things I’ll put it in the comments and if you have questions please ask I really just need guidance right now and need motivation to see another doctor that will actually help me

Vision change after a 4 day trip

I’m a teen. I went out on a 4 day long trip to the mountains during the summer and while I was there I didn’t notice my vision even once. Not one thing caught my eye as being harder to see then usual or whatever. For reference, I’m -0.75 in my left and -0.50 in my right and I didnt use my glasses at all during the trip. The best I can recall is using them during one bus ride and then usuing them for like 10 minutes to see the city lights at night more clearly to take in the view. Anyways, the day after I arrived home I got food poisoning and it hurt like hell so I started taking medicine. 2nd day I still took medicine and got tested and turns out I had a liver and urinary tract infection aswell. I took a new medicine dosage after that which I continued for day 3 and day 4. By day 5 I was fine. And now I’ve finished my dose.

But during day 3 I noticed my vision seemed a bit worse then usual? This is scaring me since my prescription I know is already pretty low and any change feels really noticeable. Why is it that my vision seems worse to me? Or is worse? Is it because of the medicine? If so, will my eyesight clear up? Was it because I was in the sun and spending lots of time outdoors during the trip and now that I’m back home in my room it feels harder for my eyes to adjust?

Please help

Blurred vision in one eye, sudden onset, deets in body

About a week or week and a half ago, I (32M) experienced a significant headache (weird for me) and my left eye became foggy. We thought it was just my first migraine, given my age. But my left eye has stayed blurry (not too badly to see well) and it is VERY light-sensitive. Houselights and screens that didn't bother me a weekish ago still do nothing to the right eye but make the left eye feel like I'm staring into the sun. At this point, the headache happens because of the eye's sensitivity rather than the other way around.

Tldr; wtf is wrong with my left eye?

I'm an American, btw, hence why I'm not asking a doctor this right now. Thanks to anyone who might have insight on how serious an issue this may be!

Unequal pupil size(26F)

My left pupil is dilated. I was having some discomfort in seeing my phone texts, books. So I thought maybe my power of left eye has increased. But on Sunday, I randomly noticed that my left pupil is bigger in size. I have dark eyes, so I don't know from when I am having this. This discomfort has been there from one week. I already have dry eyes. I was diagnosed two years ago. I will go to the doctor tomorrow but I am really scared and anxious as I don't think this is very common. And It has been two days my pupil has not returned to it's original size. It does constrict for half an hour or so if I put refresh tears (and my vision from left eye becomes clear) but it is still larger than my right pupil . After half an hour or 45 minutes, it again becomes bigger. What do you think this could be ? My power in the left eye was -1 and in the right eye was -0. 5 (2 years ago)

Update : It turned out to be Adies pupil
