This is a beautiful set!

This is a beautiful set!

I hope this set is like the deep green set they brought out a few years ago—with an oval Dutch oven, a braiser, and a small (2qt) Dutch oven.

Or at least just the braiser. What a beautiful addition that would be!

New Crofton Collection

I gave away most of my dark green Crofton enameled cast iron collection. Today I added these two pieces to my collection, along with the 6qt Dutch oven in Sea Salt.

I guess it’s time for me to start baking some bread!

Easy Aldi Dinner

Pasta in the Pumpkin Butternut Squash sauce with shrimp. I used the precooked shelled frozen shrimp. Served with a side of broccoli and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Quick, easy, and good.

Cast Iron returns today!

Did anyone go out today and pick up either a Dutch oven or a bread oven? I bought the dark green bread oven several years ago and it has performed beautifully! Save yourself $270 and try one of these!

Seasonal stovetop changeover

It was time to put away the patriotic red/white/blue pots and bring out the Flamme Doree pots--especially since it seems as if I'm living on the surface of the sun these days! (Not pictured is my Flamme Doree pumpkin--she'll be brought out in September when we start the changeover to Fall and Thanksgiving.)

Pot of the Day—the Tangine

Chicken tangine tonight. This is probably my least-used pot. I’m going to work on getting it into the rotation more often.

This is the small tangine in cobalt.

Bamboo oblong on the job

My bamboo oblong was on the stovetop today so it got the call as the “pot of the day.”

Scrambled eggs in the morning and pork tenderloin with carrots and onions for dinner.

Cleanup from the eggs was very easy—minimal sticking.

Mystery box cookware

I know you’re looking at this photo and wondering why I’m showing it to you. A little background…

I live in South Louisiana. I married a man whose family hailed from rice country. (My own people are from sugar country.). We cook rice at least once a day nearly every day. Fresh. No leftover rice.

My rice has been mediocre at best. Didn’t matter the method—traditional, oven, pasta, electric rice cooker, Le Creuset rice pot—gummy rice every single time. Didn’t matter the rice—long grain, short grain, medium grain, parboiled…

Today I decided to give one of the pots from my Zwilling mystery pot a chance to impress me.

Color me impressed. Perfect rice. Worth the cost of the box just for this.

My Large Mystery Box 😀

First—how cute is the actual box Zwilling uses to ship the mystery box?

I got the cookware box. My cookware is gray, which is fine. Actually—any of the 4 colors would have been fine with me!

I also received a package of taupe dish cloths and 2 knives. One little paring-type knife and the slicing knife.

It’s a great haul at $99. I’m going to give the XL box a try this weekend!

Stovetop refresh

Time to put away the honey petal braiser and honey fafa. It’s the Mauve Pink sauteuse’s time to shine!

Placed my first order on May 2nd. It's shipping today, with arrival tomorrow. If I had thought that they could ship this quickly I would have waited a week to order! I leave town tomorrow so I'll have a neighbor collect the box from my porch.

It was time to switch out the stovetop pots so a few pieces of my Honey collection came out to play. The petal braiser will be in use tonight for pork chops with apples while the fafa will be on duty cooking some potatoes.

The round and oval Dutch ovens are waiting their turn. Beans and rice are such a staple here—they won’t have to wait long!
