Got dragged down the sink organizer rabbit hole by this community lol.

Got a little inspired by this sub a few weeks ago and made some sink accessories after a found a water spot on my window sill that required repainting because it had bubbled under my old caddy that wasn't draining.

So I'm just going to put everything in this one cause it's nothing to crazy and I'm not sure how universal some of this stuff is.

  • Items included
    • Sponge Caddy
      • 222.25 (wide) x 128(deep) mm
      • Currently designed to span ~115mm, could be shortened or lengthened without to much issue.
    • Brush Caddy
      • 200 (wide) x 105 (deep) mm
      • Removable tray for easy cleaning.
      • Feed have claws to stop it from being pushed back.
      • Front drain spout
      • Feed are swappable and I've include ones that will let you adjust the angle from flat at 0deg, 2.5deg, and 5 deg.  This way if your ledge isn't flat you can help it drain a little more.  You pin them in place with a piece of filament once installed.
      • You do need a little bit of support material on this one, doesn't actually need to be the real support material anything should work for it.
    • General use trays
      • 200 (wide) x 110 (deep) mm
      • These are just some simple trays I wanted to go with everything else.  I just tossed some stick on rubber feed I had lying around on the bottom of them.
  • Recommended finishing
    • I would recommend you seal any items like this.  I'm really concerned about food safety here, more so about growing mold inside printed parts.
    • I chose to spray these with some water based polyurethane and let it cure before use.   This way there is some kind of barrier where the water and such will be the heaviest.  And it helps smooth out the print for better water flow in general.
    • I know most people won't bother to do this so use a your own risk.

Tip Down Tin Storage Drawer

Have been working on this one for a little while because my partner has a tea problem, in my option not her's. She has these tins she got for storing loose leaf and before they were kinda stacked on the shelf, but hard to get to. Made this so I can either do them side by side or stack them on top of each other and now get some more shelf space back. Just uses gravity to do the tip mechanism with a simple track and uses magnets to hold them in. I chose to also use some 608zz bearings to make it slide nice and smooth. I did design this around the H2S so it doesn't fit on an P or X series size printer. Possibility to make a smaller version in the future, but not right meow. I also upload the stop files for the fronts so you can do whatever crazy thing you want with the front for design and or even make your own pulls for it so it looks less like a mini filling cabinet. Other notable things is it is designed to hold the back end down with either tape for 2 M5 screws, but the 2 pieces of tape are 10x the force required when the tape fully sets up. Let me know if you have any questions. There are more pictures and details on makerworld.

Link for anyone interested.

Last post for reference. https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/1snhwtc/round_2_here_we_go_wall_vent_sound_baffle/

Okay few things I changed since I last did some testing.

  • New Decibel Meter Data Logger to record everything. I did find my phone and this didn't line up the best, so just redid most of the baseline testing. This does not register as low as my phone does and not sure if the phone is really good to below 30dB. Also did not get this device calibrated so kind of hoping for the best here.
  • Used a different source for audio input.
    • Switched to my laptop into the receiver with 1/8 out to RCA input.
  • Used this site to do the noise generation and do the different test.
  • The -30dB seemed low for the songs so I increased it for that test to -24dB

Things I'm missing from the testing and wish I had.

  • I tossed the original cardboard when I thought I was done last time, so I don't have those to retest. Best guess is between blue and orange on the graph.
  • The passage way is line with foam and I don't want to peel it all off, so I can't show the improved I got from just doing that. There was a decent improvement from previous testing when I added just that.
  • I tossed the original sound mazes since the flow was so bad, so wasn't able to add those to here. Might reprint and test and add to the data later, but very low on the priority list right now.

Things I added.

  • Got in some 4mm EVA foam to try for the inserts over the carbon filter pad.

Things that haven't changed.

  • Flow still seems the same from previous testing.

Overall Thoughts

  • The EVA foam didn't make a huge difference compared to the carbon filter pad, but it did out preform in some test compared to the closed door, but all did worse in others.
  • During the song test it was a little hard to get these graphs perfectly lined up, but it seems like the EVA did slightly better, but no by much. It seemed to handle some of the spikes just slightly better.
  • I'm not sure how much more testing with this I will do. It's not the results I was hoping for, but it is still better than the original cardboard insert. I might keep with the EVA foam just cause I think there was maybe 0.1 to 0.2 m/s velocity increase over the carbon filter pad.
