Sold jet-ski, buyer says it needs thousands of dollars in repairs....wtf?
I don't know if anyone can provide thoughts advice, etc.
I sold my jet ski last week, the buyer messages me the next day to tell me it's taking in water. He told me there was a hose loose on the pump, he tightened it back up, and all was well.
He messaged me today, saying it was still taking on water, he took it to a dealer who told him there was a hole in the hull, likely from rubbing against the trailer that the mechanic said was too small for the machine- I only had the machine+trailer for one year and that's the trailer the original owner bought it with and that's what I got. The dealer told him it would be over $3k (CAD) to fix.
I had the machine professionally winterized and the machine was always tight on the winch strap when on the machine. It was never docked so was never rubbing anything. I had no issues at end of last season and did not notice any marks or anything on the hull. The seller did not want to test drive when he bought it.
I am a brutally honest guy and would NEVER sell anything that I knew had a problem. The story just sounds fishy. I asked him to get the mechanic to call me and I want to see pics of the issue. Do I owe this guy anything? I know some will say no and buyer beware, others will say to square up.
Any responses/advice would be greatly appreciated.
