Roof Leaks and Recalls

Every BR I find has an open recall or 2 (or 3 or 4). Now I read about roof leaks.

Is the roof leaking issue I read about anecdotal / blown out of proportion or should I actually worry about dropping $70k+ on a BR and then deal with a problem that Ford apparently had no solutions for dealing with a very wet interior after a very rainy night?

It just seems like a lot to worry about for something that costs so much. It’ll be my daily driver.

New Raptors Under $80k

Hi everyone, I’ve come across posts about buying new Raptors for less than $80k. However, any Raptor I find within 300 miles of me (Houston, TX) is listed for $85k+ and they’re not budging on the price. I’m curious to know how they’re able to buy them for less than $80k.

I usually prefer to buy used trucks that are 1-2 years old and have less than 10k-15k miles on them. But unfortunately, when I find any they are priced around $80k. It’s hard to justify spending that much on a used Raptor when I could potentially get a new one at the same price.

New or Used 2024 with Impending Expensive Maintenance?

Im looking to get a Raptor. I want a 2024 or newer but all the used ones I find under 20k miles are as much as a new one would be (if not marked up). The ones I find in my ideal price range are between 25k and 30k miles and still going for low to mid $70k’s. I worry a bit about dropping $72k + on a 2024 with sub 30k miles. New tires will be on the horizon, maybe even rebuilding the shocks depending on how the previous owner drove it. The warranty will be expiring soon so it’ll be another couple grand or so for an extended warranty.

Anyone had this dilemma and have an opinion or advice I might value?

Premium vs. Performance

Hope this isn’t beat the death. I’m new to the EV world. I test drove the AWD, and it made me dizzy when I floored it, so I don’t need anything faster than that. I’m a fairly tall, bigger guy so the seats weren’t super comfortable. I also test drove the performance and the seats were GREAT, especially with the thigh extender. I think I felt a difference in the suspension (in a positive way) but I wasn’t really paying attention to that in the premium, which I test drove first…so maybe I’m convincing myself to spend the extra money just for nicer seats and some cooler looking exterior decals.

I don’t love the idea of the tires needing to be replaced just about every year (my daily driver). I’ve read that insurance is higher on the performance. Interest rate on performance is 5% higher. I want red, white interior and a hitch. All those come included if optioned, where they’re extra on the premium. Even though it’s still cheaper, it seems like a better deal.

Any reason I’m not thinking of to go performance over premium I’m not thinking of?

Trade In With Service ABS Light On

Hi, all. I was on the cusp of trading in my 2017 Ram 1500 when literally the next day my ABS module failed and set off all the service ABS / trailer brakes lights. Some shit luck. I used my extended warranty to get it fixed, but found out the ABS Module is on back order. A month later, after hearing nothing back from the shop, I find out from looking into it that Chrysler either isn’t making them any more or at the least it’s taking more than a year and a half or to get to an order because several stories on Reddit and other forums of people giving up after 1.5+ years fighting with Chrysler and installing a used/rebuilt ABS.

I just want to trade it in for a new truck. For anyone with experience either as a consumer selling a vehicle with this issue or as a buyer at a dealership, should I expect a dealer to refuse to buy it, or give me an extremely low offer that I might as well fix it with a used or rebuild module before trading it in? I’m willing to lose a little bit or what it’d cost to rebuild the module but I’m not willing to lose my ass on it. The truck is otherwise in great condition and low miles for its age.

ABS Module Back Order

My ABS module on my 2017 Ram 1500 is faulty and the shop I took it to ordered it from the dealer. It is on back order and was told I was 170 in line. He was told that Chrysler makes them as they’re needed, and there is no time table or ETA. It has been a month. Anyone have an experience with this lately? I read in a forum from a few years ago someone has been waiting for a year. I’m just trying to fix this so I can sell it. I can’t wait a year.

EDIT: Reading through forums is giving me conflicting information. Everything from folks waiting a year and a half to being told they are flat out not making them anymore. Crazy.

Carven Progressive Highway Drone - J-Pipe Question

I used to have a 2016 Ram 1500 Sport with Carven Progressive exhaust + 5” black tips. I loved it. Never had any issues. Now I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel. I just put the exact same exhaust on it and…around the city I love it. On the highway I can’t stand it. SO much drone. I don’t know if I’m just finding out I got old or what but little surprised.

Google pointed me to Helmholtz Resonator, otherwise known as a J-Pipe as a solution. Any recommendations? I spend most of my time on the highway. I need to fix this.

Carven Progressive vs. B2fabrication Moderate w/ Res delete

I previously had a 2016 Ram 1500 Sport Hemi with the Carven Progressive with the 5” black tips. I know I love the way that sounds. I currently have a 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Hemi and want to put an exhaust. I see a lot of recommendations for b2fabrication. Looking at the moderate and resonator delete and tips. They’re pretty close in price. Can’t decide between what I know I like in Carven, or trying something new based on the forums. I do a lot of highway driving…I’m not super sensitive to drone or anything but that does factor a bit.

This was the Carven exhaust on my old Ram - https://youtube.com/shorts/wbCRoqvX9gU?si=pVrwL-TgZPuteZDW

I’m considering the Ranger Raptor as my next truck. Currently driving a 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel. It’s paid off and works fine, so no hurry…just got that new car bug. I read that the 2027 is supposed to be a refresh. I know they haven’t announced anything officially but wondering what the community thinks might be part of the refresh/if it might be worth waiting another year? Some improvements that might make me want to wait would be factory 35” tires, ventilated seats, moonroof/panoramic roof, blue cruise, 3.5 from the f-150 Raptor…or perhaps a redesign of the interior to make the screen horizontal like the bronco/f-150…wasn’t a huge fan of the vertical when I tweet drove a ranger raptor. Anyway, just curious if anyone frequenting this thread has a prediction. I’m in the states BTW.
