Got my 14900K RMA’d by Intel, so back down the rabbit hole I go…

DAE have a love hate relationship with this hobby? I love the final product, and most of the journey to get there, but today I’m beginning to lose my patience. Spent 2.5 hours draining my loop (poorly designed loop in terms of maintenance, featuring a vertical rad and a vertical GPU), and then I saw plasticizer leaching on my CPU block. And then I noticed it on my GPU block as well. And now I’m tearing down both blocks to clean them. I’m just so mad at myself and at this whole hobby for its level of difficulty. 🙄

Just me, or anyone else?

I’m 10,000% adding another drain port in my loop to make future drains easier.

Anyone able to get the Siri shortcut to turn their car on? My X5 won’t do it..

I added the shortcut as soon as the app updated and said iOS shortcuts can now activate climate and trunk functionality, but my Siri won’t turn the car on. The trunk feature works, but the climatize doesn’t. Anyone know what’s up with this?

Is it ever truly ‘Build Complete’?

Constantly tinkering and trying to optimize this bad boy!

Finally figured out how to control Lian Li fans in Aquasuite!

I was using the older wireless receiver (that accepts the breakout cable that splits into a USB 2.0 header and a 4-pin fan header) to connect to my Lian li fans but I was having constant connection issues where one group of fans would just stop communicating with the receiver (switching wireless channels did not help). I was also having issues with the fans ramping up to 100% during boot (even though in Aquasuite I had the fallback power set to 25%), and it was also a pain to not be able to control each individual fan group as the fans would just spin at whatever speed the wireless receiver 4-pin fan header was set to, regardless of what the output in Aquasuite was for each fan group. All fans are connected to my Aquacomputer Octo.

I found a reddit post mentioning that Lian Li changed their wireless dongle design, and I remembered that one of my sets of fans did come with the slimmer/newer dongle. It doesn’t have a breakout cable and can only plug into the motherboards USB port, but this solved all of my issues! I can now control each individual fan group in Aquasuite, and the connectivity issues have subsided! *AND* the fans no longer ramp to 100% during boot!

So happy to have resolved all of those issues by just swapping out the wireless receiver!

For anyone wondering if you can control Lian Li fans with Aquasuite, the answer is yes! You just need the newer wireless dongle to do it (not the older/fatter design with the breakout cable for internal cable routing).

I’ve been tinkering with a variable pump speed too so that when the fans ramp down, the pump also slows down a tad to keep noise level lower. It’s so quiet now 🥹

Inspired by BioGear’s bag, love the way the zipper pulls turned out. Now I just need a bright orange Monogram and this bag is ready for action!
