Hi

Just bought a new machine - la pavoni mini x. This machine doesn’t have a group head gauge. I have performed a static pressure test with a blind filter and getting 12bars of pump pressure on the machine gauge. What would the brew pressure be at the coffee puck? If the machine is calibrated to have 9bars at the group head / coffee puck can i assume i should be grinding to achieve a reading of 12bars on the machine pump gauge?

Some other observations:
When grinding my dark roast coffee 18g and extracting approx 36g, I need to grind quite fine to achieve approximately 24-25 extraction, however at this speed the pump pressure gauge always reads 12bars.

Any hints on how to get 25-30 secs and achieve the brew pressure of 9bars?

Another point the basket is rated to 16g (according to the manual) but can easily accommodate 18g. Should i be reverting to the recommended dose of 16g?

Hopefully one of you experienced in this can shed more light on this

If purchasing a GS from a GS Boutique or Salon in Japan does the consumption tax free refund for tourists work like this (as I am getting conflicting information):

1. Do I pay just the tax free price at check out? Or
2. Do I pay the tax free price first and then separately pay the consumption tax and then apply for a refund either as cash or back on the credit card? or
3. Do I pay full amount at checkout and then apply for a refund either as cash or back on the credit card?

If someone could clarify that would be most helpful.
