Tutorials for custom painting joytoys (Donnay)

- all credit for these pic are from donny(milk brother….i don’t know why don’t ask)

Since Joytoy has released another shitty cash grab I thought I would share the facebook of a fellow taiwanese who shares a ton of tutorials and tips on painting joytoy.
I’ve learned alot from his instructions and clips and he show some simple upgrades to advanced stuff.

General warning for pilots for the Mech line

I recommend not buying these pilots if you’re not accustomed to model or mini assembly. These are not tool less figures. They require model glue (and make sure you are careful when applying adhesive or the paint will melt). Nearly all the small details on the figure armor requires you to use adhesive glue and its best if you use model pliers to have the glue cure. The base figure is naked and requires you to disassemble the model to put the main armor pieces on which was a massive pain. The backpack also requires decent glue due to the relative weight.

I bought a bunch of these pilots to their newer line of mechs because the older mechs pilots were easy to assemble accessories. I will not be buying these anymore. They aren’t figures in my eyes but model kits.

Highly recommend the Madworks Spray booth

Got this in a week ago and have been testing it out ever since. Assembly was a breeze and it’s a premium metal frame. What amazed me the most was just how strong the fan was and how quiet it is. Have only owned two other cheaper booths but it’s the first time the sound of my brush was louder than the fan lol. 7500 taiwan dollars here (230usd). They are shipping preorders atm but highly recommend if you need a premium compact booth that is supper quiet. I think they are currently trying to fill orders for their domestic customers but look out for this one.

My Film Studio Tower Build and thoughts

It’s probably the most crazy good looking set I’ve built from lumibricks. There are tones of gimmicks like an interchangeable alien escape scene picked or easter eggs inside. There are lighting gimmicks too that change the rooms into an active filming scene. It’s very tall, I’ve put my art studio set next to it for comparison.

Some cons - the set came with some wiring that was so loose it just popped right apart. (Pictured). I contacted lumibricks through their taobao store I purchased it at and they told me I would have to pay for a replacement and shipping to Taiwan for their defective part which I thought was unfair. (About 7 usd). There were also a couple missing parts like window panes and a couple bricks that I just scavenged from my extra brick bank cause I wasn’t about to go and pay for them lumi to ship parts they didn’t provide. I also got 15 or so scuffed bricks . IMO lumibricks man weakness is their QA and customer support.
