My baby has possible hypotonia but so far is meeting milestones and we’re still waiting to see a paediatrician to get an actual diagnosis.

When I hold other people’s babies that are around 6 to 9 months, the babies feel firm to hold with lots of muscle and fat. My baby feels slightly limp even though he’s quite strong. I’m just wondering if anyone has a four month old and knows what I’m talking about? Does your baby feel very firm or still soft like a newborn?

At what point did you throw in the towel? My baby is 13 weeks old and never learned to latch. My milk came in late, and he had a hard time feeding from slow flow avent bottles. We used Dr browns, and now are using Evenflo. I have seen 2 LCs, and tried absolutely everything - sns, paced feed, skin to skin, shields, etc.

I am pumping and a “just enougher” and have worked hard to have no negative experiences at the breast. We try maybe once per day or every two days and as soon as he cries I give him a bottle because otherwise he just screams like I’m torturing him.

He has recently at least latched and will flutter suck for comfort and fall asleep, but that’s about it. I just don’t know how much stock I should put into that, maybe it’s time to throw in the towel.

My baby has been flagged for low tone. We are waiting to see a paediatrician but just wondering if I can get some insight on how far behind he may be.

Currently at almost 11 weeks. During tummy time he traces well and can have his head up for 4-5 minutes at a time. Is hitting things at midline and lots of antigravity movements with his arms and legs while on his back but not actively reaching for anything yet.

The issue is that he cannot pull to sit, his head lags behind and pretty much stays flopped backwards. He is not engaging when pulled. Once up he can support his head for short period although it bobs around and can flop sometimes. Is anyone else at the same stage and seeing the same thing? All the milestone indicators online seem like we are basically on track but both physio and nurses seemed to think there was an issue.

Has anyone had low tongue posture after a tongue tie release and were you able to breast feed after that after not being able to latch at all?

My son is almost 9 weeks, release done almost two weeks ago and at the followup appointment they said everything was healing well but his tongue posture is still low.

He is bottle fed and screams when I try to latch him. It seems like 3-4 months was the latest anyone was able to get their LO to latch so I’m planning on trying at least until then.

Hello everyone, what is the latest your LO learned to latch?

I am 2 months pp and my LO has never latched before (or only once last week very briefly but would not suck anything out).

We had a tongue tie release 1 week ago. He will latch and feed with a nipple shield and sns system but without the sns he gets nothing out. I am protecting my supply, paced feeds, mouth strengthening exercises, chiro/ostea/physio everything.

I am just wondering when to call it quits? He screams every time put my nipple near him. I don’t want to give up if there’s a chance but it just seems pretty futile sometimes. I’m wondering what a reasonable deadline could be where I should accept that he likes the bottle and stop trying so hard.
