Super long shot - I found a key ring, and a car key (Nissan) with a Lanyard

UPDATE - THEY MADE IT TO THE OWNER - Thank you Cypress

I was leaving the Kroger's on Tuckerton, out of the back exit where the grocery pick-up is.

In the middle of the street was a full ring of keys, a Nissan key fob and all of it was on a lanyard. It was a Prairie View college lanyard.

I stopped and picked them up so they would not be run over, my car is in the shop today, but tomorrow I am going to take them to the Kroger's concierge type lady and turn them in as lost keys.

Hope this finds the right person.

I realized why Gen X were a bit "crazy"

I was pondering the existence of my belly button and the gravitational effects on my pecs while showering, when I remembered a fashion trend in the 80's that I have not thought about in 40 years.

As a young man, in middle school, there was a solid two year period where "Kamikaze" fashion and culture were all the rage.

Does anyone else remember this?

Does anyone still use metaphors and similes?

Growing up, my Dad would describe the world, events and life using colorful metaphors and similes. For instance:

That's as useless as tits on a boar hog!

You saying that is like an ant climbing an elephants leg with intentions of r..e.

Dumb as a box of rocks

Boy could eat corn through a picket fence! ( bucktooth)

and hundred more I cant remember until the need arises. I speak fluent metaphor.

Thank you - All of you Angels on here who helped me.

I arrived Friday to my Mom's home and said" Good morning Momma, I love you!" loudly as she never wears her hearing aids. She said she loved me, and she looked really tired. I said " Momma you look really tired, while don't you rest while we get you packed up"

You see we were moving her to her new home, with 24 hour care and all new furniture and friends. I had been working for months to get her a place she would love near my home.

Well, she laid her head down to the side like she always does when she rests, you see COPD had robbed her of the ability to lay down. And that was the last time she opened her eyes. She waited for me to get to her home and wish her a good morning, and what my brother says is I gave her permission to sleep, and she did.

Hospice transferred her to a facility, and I sat with her for 1.5 hours.

It's over, her pain is over. Mine has just started.

Thank you to everyone who offered comfort and advice, you are doing good work.

My mom has been on hospice now for 3 weeks. She became fixated on moving from where she is, to close to me in a assisted living home. She keeps saying she wants to see the grandchildren and make my daily commute shorter (it's an hour each way now), but I believe after I do this, she will pass away in short order. It is her money, she has kept a nest egg, and all I am is the business end, and the dude coordinating care, support and loose ends. I am moving her this weekend.

Is this common in a hospice patient? Do they realize the end is approaching and they want to spend more time with people? She has been distant my whole life, but now, towards the end, she wants to see me and the grown grandkids as much as possible. Even though they live two hours away. I am trying to understand what I consider to be little to little, little too late.

As a solidly GenX man, I wake at the crack of 5, every morning regardless of day. I sneak about as not to wake the rest of house, make my coffee and retire to a place of solitude until 7am. 7 is when i expect the rest of these miscreants to be awake in the house.

At 8:00am sharp I fire up the mower and proceed to get the yard done before Texas heat shows it's potential for misery that day.

Now the younger homeowners around me wait until 2:00 pm or later, they wait until the heat of the day to even start, and give me the side eye because I obviously interrupted their sleep.

what is the commonly agreed upon time to start mowing that does not violate the Millenial-GenZ Geneva Convention?
