How many of you have improv or comedy related tattoos?

I’ve been considering getting a bentwood chair tattoo but I feel like I haven’t been doing improv long enough nor am I successful enough to warrant a tattoo for it.

But even if I’m never successful it could be a reminder of the years I pursued it? Idk.

Is it cringe? Objectively probably.

If you have an improv/comedy related tattoo what is it? What inspired you to get it?

Assuming DCM returns next year, would it be in LA?

I'm new to the scene and this year was my first DCM. Back in the day did the festival alternate locations each year? If it's returning next summer would it likely be in LA?

Where can I get an unsliced square loaf of bread? Like the kind you buy at the store that comes in a bag, but unsliced.

I am in need of the best thing that came before sliced bread, which I assume is unsliced bread.

I am so serious. I need a square loaf of bread that’s airy and light like sliced packaged bread (à la wonder bread) but unsliced.

Are there any bakeries literally anywhere in the city that sell that?

Is this t-shirt design from the official NBA store AI? The text looks like the AI flyers you see around but I'm not 100% sure about the artwork.

I'm looking for Knicks merch for obvious reasons but I'm on the lookout for alternative designs. In general I usually wear muted colors and the OG blue and orange are very jarring. I came across this t-shirt and I'm like 75% sure it's an AI design. It's disappointing if it is because they're charging like $50 for it.

The text has that AI design look that I see on a lot of flyers. And the core of the apple has that look too. But the rest of the artwork I'm not convinced.

Thoughts?

Someone needs to study the high paying tech job to improv pipeline

Edit: I’m being mostly hyperbolic and I know what the mag 7 is

I’ve met so many improvisers who have tech jobs at major investment banks and they aren’t even your typical finance bros.

You ask your scene partner what they do for work and there’s a good chance it’s at a Mag 7 company. Why does this happen?????

my dad's birthday is coming up and I'm usually good at getting him cool gifts because I end up finding stuff by chance he'd like and then saving it for his birthday or the holidays, except this time I've got nothing. I have yet to come across cool trinkets or books.

for context, he's in his 60s, loves music (plays piano and bass, listens to all kinds of genres... just nothing from this century. mainly likes jazz, blues and rock), likes slapstick comedy, journalism, literature, and recently went on a trip to france so he's obsessed.

i'm open to any suggestions of knick-knacks, shows, books, gift cards, museums, literally anything that I can find in the city. TIA!

As we celebrate today, the first Monday of May, I implore us to gather and reflect.

For we reside in a world that idolizes our neighbors across the river, a world that stomps on our accomplishments. Think of it, for example, a worldwide sporting event held in our great nation of New Jersey, being recognized only by the ones who perpetually overshadow us.

We reside right beside the most famous city in the world, yet are constantly berated and belittled. Today of all days, people from across the globe will watch and read about the greatest night in fashion each year. An event that takes place in the city just beyond the Lincolnest of Tunnels.

But fear not. For today I learned that the very ground these celebrities and corporate elites walk on each year... is supplied by the Flemington Department Store.

And this very department store has supplied the carpets for New York Fashion Week, for the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting, past presidents, and even the former Pope.

So the next time you find yourself amidst individuals who berate our great Garden State, implore them to look down at the ground they walk upon. For it was built on the backs of the great, humble people of New Jersey.

I saw the movie over the weekend and liked it a lot. Aside from some cliches and corny moments, I think it captured the current state of journalism pretty accurately.

I've been seeing a lot of negative reviews of the film from people who don't think Miranda was mean enough or the whole thing was boring but I disagree. I think the characters reflect how it feels to work in this field for the past 20 years.

But maybe only people who work in journalism or media find it exciting because it's about them.

I will say, it was very accurate - down to Anne Hathaway drinking a diet coke while cramming on a story (which was probably product placement but still) - but I wasn't so sure I enjoyed watching the grim realities of the film for two hours when I spend my life living it. That's not the film's fault though, that's a me problem.
