Senior Engineer Salary

Hi, i finished my PhD and moved for a different role (similar field) to Austria, My exp is phd (same field as job, and 1.5y experience in industry)

Now I have the opportunity to go for an Senior Engineer position. What is a reasonable pay for such a role at NXP/Infineon in Graz?

Kununu said sth around 80-85k. Is that reasonable? I want to prepared well, because being off by a few % is already a lot of money. The position would 40h+all-in.

Why do people claim that motherhood is the most difficult job in the world?

I understand it is a very important job, and I am happy we live in a country, where at least some apsects of maternity leave are offset by laws. Like progressing your pension during your legally allowed maternity leave and parent-part-time job (combined up to 5y).

But I dont get the "it is the most difficult job on earth", like it isnt. It is neither the most mentally taxing, nor most physical job. How do I know this? My wife had a bit of hard time recovering from birth, which is why I stayed home 1 month taking care of the child and her. Then she was taking care of the kid for 10 months, while I was working, and then she startet full time again, and I took care of the kid for 2 months. Now we are both working full time again and agree that our jobs are more demanding than taking care of a kid. We were both having a better time, when we stayed at home and took care of the kid.

Can you explain where this narrative comes from? Is it because people belittle the job of raising a kid?

Patriarchal Backfire

I do not fully get the logic of patriarchal backfire.

Like "women cant be engineer" = misogyny, and I obviously agree

And "men cant be in childcare" = misogyny as well

The 2nd part is what I do not really understand. From reading some sources on the internet, the logic goes as follows:

>The theory states that society views "nurturing, childcare, and emotional labor" as inherently female traits, and because society has historically devalued women, it devalues those traits.

And this reads to me as:

When a man enters a childcare profession, he is penalized because he is stepping "down" into a role society associates with women. In this framework, the root root cause is still the devaluation of femininity.

And I understand that this is part of the explanation. But can you really neglect the other implied reasons, men being seen as predators? Men are clearly treated with suspicion purely based on their gender, which to me, does not sound like misogyny.

Am I missunderstand something here?

Thanks

I find it quite ugly, that they told Liam to let Max past again. There was no need to do so, Max went off himself when trying to overtake Liam at the start of the Miami GP.

Especially given how Max reacted to the papaya rules in Monza, now he gets and even better treatment from another team.
