Questions about feeding

Hello!

I recently got a rope fish and have had him for almost two weeks.

I just today got him to *finally* eat something. He finally went for ghost shrimp, though I'm unsure how many he ate.

So what I'm wondering is.. How often and how many do I add to the tank? I can't even find the ones I've added, so how do I make sure he's getting enough?

I have ALWAYS seen hornwort float, and I bought it specifically to give my gourami some cover... Why is it not floating??

Idk what is going on, but every single tank I have ever used hornwort in, it has floated.

But what I bought, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to want to do that.

I don't want my gourami stressed from the light and whatnot.. So.. What can I do?

The poor woman at the lfs I went to today had to listen to me squeal and gush over her baby black ghost knife fish. And then I promptly bought much more than I should have.

I have a soft spot for the black ghost knife fish. I love how they move and swim and find them very soothing to just sit and watch.

I went to a lfs today and first lost my mind over the little freshwater sting rays she had.

And then...I saw the baby black ghost knives. I thought mine was small when I got him (around 3 inches) but these guys? OMG 😭 THEY'RE ITTY BITTY!!!! I literally could not handle it lol.

Anyway, I'd been trying to find angel fish, and failing. Until today. I was very happy to find the ones I did! I can't wait to watch them grow.

And then I had to get some corydoras, because they're adorable and I know they'll love the sand 🥹 and the size difference between them kills me 😂😭 I hope they all grow up healthy :)

The black ghost knifefish that I've had for a year suddenly died this morning. And I am absolutely heartbroken.

I don't know what I did wrong. He was doing great last night when I fed him. And this morning, he's just gone.

He was barely 3 inches long when I brought him home a little over a year ago. I've watched him grow, learned his behavior and personality. I was looking forward to more of that. And now it's just over.

I loved this fish so freaking much, man. I'm so, so sad.

RIP Cow Fish, I'm sorry, I hope you know you were so loved.

The way he acts so dramatic and like I starve him honestly cracks me up

He's always been like this!

When I first brought him home a year ago, as soon as I put him in the tank...he slurped up a snail 😂 and had what I liked to call, "the snail graveyard" because he ate so many in his little corner, that there was just a huge amount of snail shells.

I could feed him three times a day, have the tank full of snails... And he will act like this every single feeding.

Lol I love him sm.

This brought me a lot more joy than I expected it to 🥹

I think we ended up with all females! But this one is particularly chill and doesn't act like I'm going to murder her when I pick her up 😂

Was not aware of humidity in the room... Do I need to worry about damage to my acoustic?

Does this current setup look okay?

Hello!

I just moved the chicks to a space with higher walls, as they've been hopping a bit.

The bedding is pine bedding mixed with crushed corn cob, with sand on the far end.

I placed the water on an upside down plate to hopefully have it not get messy as quickly. The feed is 30% game feed, with some lower level crumbles sprinkled throughout for them to scratch and peck for.

Thoughts?

Is this okay? I love them so much and can't help but hold them sometimes 😭

I don't wanna like... Stress them out or anything. I try to keep them in view of the others, or take more than one out at a time. They usually just poop on me and try to run away 😂

This was a nice little treat after a long day at work :)

Hello! We got our week old baby quail chicks two days ago. The first day they were pretty okay, doesn't mind being handled too much.

But yesterday (I haven't been home yet from work today) they seemed much more... Skittish? They didn't tolerate being held too much (cried like in the video posted) and I didn't want to stress them out.

But like...I also love them, haha. How can I handle them and not stress them?
