The Shinra employee 3D battle is basically just luck, right?

You can’t even tell if he’s going to throw a left or right punch let alone what kind.

How exactly does the date selection work in Chapter 12?

I basically did every quest and every cooperation ability I have. All my characters are light blue smiley faces. I remember reading somewhere that the light blue smile doesn’t actually mean max affinity, but is just the last stage of smiley faces, so affinity can still go up. My first character to get to light blue was either Aerith or RedXIII. Not sure which, but they beat the others by a long shot. So I was expecting to get one of those two, but then Tifa shows up. Am I missing something?

Looks like Nintendo is targeting QUREATE again

https://qureate.co.jp/TokyoValkyries/en/

Seems like QUREATE is getting targeted by Nintendo ever since Bunny Garden got popular. I'm not sure what this means exactly. I'm assuming the Steam version will make it look like they really are giving some serious "hand action" to the "swords". Plus there are scenes where they get mysterious purple goop on them, so I'm gonna assume the goop will disappear too.

Does a Culture victory seem to easy?

First time playing since the update, and I was going for a Scientific victory from the very start, but ended up with a culture victory without even trying. Got all the points from nothing but making wonders, celebrations, and displaying relics in the exploration age since they’re easy to get. I never even made a single explorer in modern age, I was trailing behind in civics pretty badly for modern age too. When I won, I just barely started researching the tech for the launch pad, and only had 78 innovation. (was almost done with sound barrier, so it would have been 83)

Is there no way to see the production that an opponent’s city is earning?

The CPU and I both started building a wonder on turn 1, and he barely beat me. Not sure by how many turns. Couldn’t have been more than three. So I started again and this time did everything to maximize my production from the get go. Already had all the ageless and discovery age production buildings. All tiles without buildings improved. Straight up just bought the current age production buildings, which didn’t take too long since I got a head start on tech. Filled up my resources with whales and ultimately had 7 total.

And then this guy still beats me to it by one turn. I’m playing on governor difficult. Really want to doubt that he had more than my 123 production.

Is it actually possible to become the suzerian of a city-state on the third turn?

I just got the the third turn of the modern age, and I noticed that one of the NPCs was already the suzerian of a city-state. Even if you were to befriend them on the first turn and put all your influence into supporting it, (pretty sure they started an endeavor with me earlier too…) I don’t think it could be completed by turn three, can it?

Switch 2 is saving me tons of money

I've got 16 games now that I'm interested in getting. Before Switch 2, I would normally just pre-order the physical version for every single one to make sure I'll get a copy. But since these are GKCs instead of actually being on the cart, the only benefit to getting them is you can sell them (and I don't sell games), so I might as well just get these digitally. That being the case, I might as well just wait to buy them until I'm ready to play them. I got a bit of backlog already, and I still do some online gaming too, so by the time I actually get to these games, they'll probably be on sale as well.

Tales of Arise has THE most generic story of all the Tales games.

If you’ve played enough of them, once you get around the second region in the game, you pretty much already know how the entire story is going to pan out. The whole story in this game was pretty uninspiring. And the one element that does kind of set it apart (Alphen not having no sense of pain, which allows him to touch Shion and wield the Flame Sword) just gets chucked out the window midway. Turns out you never needed to have missing pain receptor. All you needed was to just buck up and bear the pain. :p

Why in the world were people getting blown away and rendered unconscious when touching Shion? That Flame Sword must not nearly be as hot as it made Alphen‘s gloves look either.

Edit:

Wow, I’m on a Tales subreddit and didn’t get downvoted to hell for saying something negative about a game. This game really must have had problems.

Some buttons on LS800 remote stopped working

Recently, I’m having a problem where certain buttons on my remote stop working. Most work, but things like the menu/settings button, brightness control button, switching to HDMI 3 (game mode) stop working. The red light on the remote still glows when you press the buttons though.

Is it normal for save rollbacks to all be Fromm two days ago?

I wanted to save rollbacks just a bit. Like 10 minutes. but when I went to do it, my current game slot was 5/17/2026 while the save rollbacks slots were all 5/15/2026.

I can't believe how badly Capcom screwed up the controls on Pragmata for Switch 2

When they did Resident Evil 9, Resident Evil Villlage, Resident Evil 7, the motion controls used to aim were done with the right joy-con.

When then did all the Resident Evil ports for Switch and Monster Hunter Rise, the the motion controls used to aim were done with the right joy-con.

Pretty much every game game ever released for Switch and Switch 2 has the motion controls being used with the right joy-con.

And now for some bizarre reason Pragmata comes out, and you con only use motion controls with the left joy-con. Trying to move with the left analog stick and aim with the left joy-con at the same time just feels so confusing. I don't even want to attempt Lunatic mode like this.

Do you think Japan is still capable of developing games that have the Japanese as the target audience?

It used to be that you never knew if a game from Japan was going to be localized or not. Now a days, a game that isn't localized seems to be the minority. For Japan, is a global release more of a requirement than a luxury/potential investment now? I think some small budget games can still be released for Japan only, but once you get into even just "A" territory, do you think Japan is pretty much forced to localize their games if they want to make any meaningful profit? Could it be that Japan can't afford not to localize their games at this point? Before, a game would be localized if it was deemed to have enough interest outside of Japan, but localization could be one first things to take into consideration when developing a game now days. Japan is already a small country as it is. But now it's got declining birth rates, a large population that seems to have shifted from console gaming to mobile gaming, increasing development costs, etc. I'm leaving mobile games out of this equation since smartphones are so ingrained into everyone's lives now and am assuming Japan alone can support those.

I think a good recent example is Bakeru. This is a game that was obviously made for a Japanese audience. It did get localized, but a global release clearly wasn't the plan from the start. Was its eventual localization almost a year later as an attempt at recouping losses?

Another example would be: GeGeGe no Kitarō.

These games used to come out fairly frequently, and when they did, they were in-line with what the hardware of the time they were released. Haven't seen one for quite a while now. Could you imagine one being released today that is on par with modern games of this era?

I'm feeling like there's just no way any Japanese devs would even attempt to make a AAA game that's really only going to be targeting a Japanese audience or released in Japan only. I suppose Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening could be an outlier, but that series does have a pretty long history in the west even if it is niche.
