First beading project!

My first beading project!
I did not use a reinforcing woven fabric for so many of these but for last 2, I used the woven fabric and the beads were so much stronger.
I’m feeling very lazy to go back and add the woven fabric to others too.
I also did not know we had colour choices in nylon beading yarn. I would have picked a black for this. But ig you can’t tell from a distance that I used white thread. I’m also gonna add an iron on patch behind each of these flowers to protect threads on the inside.

Any beginner tips to bead on knit fabrics?

Is my bf’s pigmy date palm dying?

Okay so I have tons of plants mostly tropical and this palm is new to me. My bf has this one single plant and he obsesses over this one plant more than I obsess over my 100. This plant has been in this spot for little more than a year.
It is showing signs of discomfort I guess? We cut the parts of the leaves that were dry/spotty. We recently did a repot to check the roots if they are rotting and to also refresh the soil. Roots looked great.
More specs-

  1. Watering schedule- once a week, we water till it drains
  2. Sun exposure- sits in filtered sunlight whole day. It’s not harsh. We have a huge tree that stops direct sun rays coming in the balcony so all plants get nice bright filtered light
  3. Nutrition- We feed with slow release fertiliser once every 6 months and I occasionally feed it with compost tea that I feed my other tropical plants with
  4. Pot- in a terracotta pot with good drainage
  5. Soil- cactus soil + perlite for better aeration
  6. Leaf clean- I cleaned the leaves once with a leaf cleaning solution that I use with other plants. The balcony gets some dust so the leaves had a lot of dust.
  7. Insects / pests- I don’t see any. Am I wrong?

What’s still missing/wrong with this plant? I feel it’s not thriving. It’s spotting its leaves faster than its growing new ones. Not sure what it needs. Please help!!

Should I frog?? This does not look neat - Sabai top

So I will categorise myself as a beginner but I have had some knitting projects, I made a halter neck top and some scarves and mittens and have done m1l and m1r before but this one does not look neat. Why are there weird holes on one side?

Should I frog it and do it again with better tension? Also does the top look loose to you guys? I’m frustrated looking at the result, it does not look nice to me. What should I do to not get these holes next time? Is it okay for these holes to exist? Should i fix them some other way after the top is done?

Are EADs not being approved?

So my timeline for AOS (F1, married to GC holder, married in late Dec 2024)

Accepted - Jan 11th
Waited for our PD to be current to submit more forms for EAD and travel

Sept 2nd - submitted I485, I756 and I131
Sept 17th Biometrics scheduled
Sept 19th Biometrics Appointment
.
.
.
No update on any forms in all these months

May 9th- I485 status updated with “Case is still being processed”

No update on EAD since Sept 2nd. I’m not from the list of travel ban countries.

USCIS centre where we mailed our forms- Chicago

We were told a realistic date for EAD to be processed is in 2-6 months but it’s the 10th month now. Is this expected? I want to be able to support my partner in our household income and it’s becoming difficult on F1 OPT.

Anyone with a similar timeline ?

Drops Nepal for Sweater needed

Hi! Does anyone want to sell Drops Nepal yarn -
about 11-12 skeins? I want to make the Step by Step sweater and trying to make it not too expensive.

I’d loveee a green-ish colour if someone has it. And Drops kid silk to go with it too. 4 skeins approximately. I know these are very specific requirements but I’m open to colour choices. If I’m able to get the Drops Nepal here, I can buy the silk online :)

TIA!

Will this unravel? Angora acrylic blend

I got this at the thrift store for unravelling but I saw some people talk about fuzzy yarn here that it’s not a great unravel project. So I wore it a couple of times but I don’t like the fit, it’s too short for my hands too. So I’m planning to unravel it this weekend.
I can also see thread used to join the panels. I’ve unraveled before 4-5 times so this looks like it will be easy to separate into panels but does the yarn look too fuzzy to be able to successfully unraveled ? Also, the inside looks fine but does the outside look felted? Not sure. Should I unravel?

First full garment! Summer top!

Hi everyone! I’m excited to share my first finished garment (I’ve made some scarves and am also making a pair of socks)! I was so happy to wear this. I had thrifted the yarn so it cost me about $2 and hours of work.

The pattern is The Arc Top by Lea (kisskiss.rhinestones on Instagram ) and the yarn is Lion Brand Coboo.

I hated the yarn. But since I had thrifted it, I really wanted to use it, it was difficult to knit with it in the beginning since I had only knit with wool before but I got the hang of it eventually and it became easier.

I’m gonna knit the Sabai top next. Any tips?

Is anyone trying to sell 100% wool / any other natural fibre yarns except cottons and bamboo? I need sweater quantity since I’m trying to make my first sweater after several mini projects like cap, mittens, top, socks, scarves.

I tried to look from other posts online what people are selling but sweater quantity yarn needed keeps selling in minutes! Crazy!

Would be happy to take the yarn at a fair destash price + pay for shipping.

I got this 51% cotton 49% rayon from bamboo yarn from thrift store and I was so excited to knit the sabai top using this but I have been trying to get the gauge correct from a whole day! The recommended needle size is 4mm on DK yarn, this yarn is numbered “3 light” which I googled, is DK (right?!). And from the very first stitch of the very first swatch this yarn is so difficult to work with. It also splits reallllyyyyyyy bad, I just saw on Ravelry so many people faced the same issue with this yarn. I am so frustrated I feel like I never wanna work with cotton!

No matter how many times I roll the yarn on my pinkie, I do not get the tension while knitting.

I tried 4mm, 4.5mm and so on and now I’m on 6mm needle. And I am not liking working with this needle, it’s making the fabric so lose, airy but the sabai top is not so lose and airy, I liked it because it’s a neat construction.

I’m usually a neat knitter but look at these stitches, so messy!!

Should I switch yarn to exactly what’s recommended? (That’s an expensive route tbh) or should I just skip this pattern? (I really want to make this top for my weekend trip next month). Has anyone faced this before with cotton rayon yarn? What should I do? Will the swatch become more structured once I wash it ?
