The ideal blend of pre and post tax retirement accounts?

All things being equal, I’d guess I’d rather have pure post tax cash for my retirement but that’s not an option. So that being said, what do you aim for as far as Roth vs IRA/401 account mix? Hypothetically if I had 1M in total portfolio, what percentage should I aim to have in Roth versus pre tax accounts? Appreciate any advice!

How often do you buy a new set of irons?

Not a bot, genuinely interested. Last time I was fitted was 2019. I still like my irons (Callaway Apex forged) but how rapidly does iron technology really evolve? Curious to hear what y’all think!

Long (foodie) weekend in MTL: it was the best of times, it was the worst of times

First off: tip of the hat to all of you who made us feel so welcome in your beautiful city. Wifey and I absolutely love you and your country. In another life, we would be happy Canadians.

Beba: I already posted about this magnificent place. It is a culinary hot spot masquerading as a casual neighborhood bistro. Such a cool wine list too! Arbois was a perfect match! I dream about the mackerel.

Bagels: let’s get this over with. Fairmount over St Viateur. Go ahead and hate us but the F bagels had such great texture and flavor. SV were really good too. We are both wrecked now: we can’t eat these bread bomb American bagels anymore. Thanks a lot for ruining us MTL.

Club Chasse et peche: more of a fine dining vibe. We were seated to the left, a cavernous darkish room, very quiet. To the right, the room had windows and, inexplicably, there was reggae being played loud enough to bleed into our room. We thought it was a different restaurant! Lobster salad was good. Spaghetti with fresh morels was on point, washed down with D. Tempier rose. Overall excellent although atmosphere was a little strange.

Cafe Olimpico: wifey is a coffee snob. She loved CO. We tried a handful of places and we kept coming back to CO. Such nice people working there!

Joe Beef: Avert your eyes if you’re squeamish. You’re in an older, renovated house with old pictures, garlic, and a goathead on the walls. Very cool waiter, very welcoming. Shared the JB story. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, and a fantastic salad. Had to try the spaghetti with lobster. This was a bad mistake. Within 30 minutes of leaving JB, I am overwhelmed by food poisoning which results in a very public, very embarrassing situation. Very ugly. Yes, it was as bad as you think. I feel nauseous just thinking about JB. (It was def the lobster, btw. Shared everything with wifey except that dish)

La Banquise: what visit to Canada is complete without poutine?! Wifey passed on this meal but I absolutely housed the poutine with smoked meat. It was delicious and decadent and I would eat it again in a heartbeat (assuming my heart could actually tolerate another helping).

Overall very grateful and impressed with the food. Can’t wait to come back!

Kihei food trucks

Aloha- appreciate any help opinions etc

Planning to take a group of 20-25 people out for casual dinner (with a cooler of beer) to either Maui Food Trucks or Kihei Food Oasis.

One better than the other for a large-ish group? BYOB is cool?

Mahalo!

Beba = extraordinary

Whoa. I heard this was place was good. I didn’t hear it is remarkable!

The mackerel and knish are absolutely delicious. The radicchio salad was amazing. The pasta special was outstanding.

Service was fantastic. Wine list also great. I have nothing to criticize which is weird because there’s always something to not like. Until tonight.

Beba isn’t “destination dining” but to call it a neighborhood joint doesn’t do it justice. A remarkable dinner in all dimensions.

Credit card surcharge add on

Staying in old town Bandon. Dinner at the Wheelhouse (meh). No fee if you use a debit card. Or pay about 3% if you use a CC. This was a first for me anywhere (let alone Bandon). Is this happening widely/everywhere?

C2 v 4: Denver daily driver?

I believe that every man has a god given right to a 911 at some point in his life.

(Two caveats: this applies to women too, and I’m an atheist)

That said: can I daily a C2 in Denver (with proper snow tires) or do I have to get a 4 (with proper snow tires)?

Thank you for any input (from Denver or similar environs)
