As a paraplegic myself, I find it ridiculous that some leftists think that being in a wheelchair should spare you from legal punishment.
So I've been seeing a lot of people online who are concerned about the fact that Nidal Hasan, an Islamic terrorist who killed 14 people(1 of them a pregnant woman and her baby inside) and injured 30+ others during his shooting is set to be executed on December 3rd, and the execution will be live-streamed on TV. Now I can understand some people feeling sensitive about such execution being carried out, some pro-lifers and Christians don't like this idea and I understand them. I'm a pro-life Christian and I pray for Nidal, but that doesn't remove the fact he destroyed the lives of many and his victims deserve more compassion and mercy than him. It's also hypocritical that many people opposing this are leftists who mocked Charlie Kirk's assassination, ignored Iryna Zarutska's murder whose footage is horrible, have endorsed Hamas, or just last week called for the executions of 7 guys accused of rape and 50+ others on a group chat without due process. Some people have no moral high-ground to oppose this execution.
Now to the point of this post. I've seen many leftists online who claim that Nidal Hasan has already had enough because he became paralyzed after he was shot by an army officer to stop him when he committed his shooting, and that executing someone in a wheelchair would be cruel. Well, this man wouldn't be in a wheelchair right now if he hadn't shot people, the wheelchair is a consequence and karma for what he did and it hasn't been enough karma for the lives he took.
I also have a spinal cord injury from a cheerleading stunt accident 8 years ago when I was 15, and I don't wish for any innocent person to ever have a spinal cord injury because even though I've already gotten used to being in a wheelchair, it's still difficult to move around on the streets, I can't feel my legs which makes me not feel pain in my legs, I get spasms which are annoying, I get sores, I have to use catheters in order to pee, and it becomes difficult to use the bathroom. It's just something I don't wish on anyone, but this terrorist Nidal Hasan deserves to have these complications which he has had for 17 years now. I can see he has suffered a lot, but not enough. Keep in mind that his food and healthcare get paid by taxpayers, so it's just a waste of money from American citizens to pay for this monster's needs.
The feminists who supported Lindsay Clancy also claimed that she didn't deserve to get sentenced because she's now paralyzed, but just like Nidal Hasan, Lindsay Clancy became disabled trying to kill herself after killing her children and I'm also glad she gets to live to suffer with the issues of paraplegia which isn't enough punishment. In fact, I think it'd be fair if she had same punishment as Nidal Hasan. Being disabled shouldn't spare you from punishment if you commit crimes, and if you become disabled while committing a horrific crime, that's your fault.
I actually find it ableist that people will feel sympathy for Nidal Hasan or Lindsay Clancy just because they now use a wheelchair despite their disabilities being a consequence of their horrific crimes. Harvey Weinstein is also pushed in a wheelchair in court due to health issues related to his health, even though he can still walk, yet he deserves punishment for his crimes as well. A wheelchair will never make me feel sympathy for a criminal and if someone does something that justifies the death penalty as punishment, I won't feel bad for that person even if they're in a wheelchair.
Many of us disabled people became disabled unexpectedly due to an accident or an illness. If you become disabled while doing a horrible crime, you don't deserve sympathy because you could have prevented this by not committing a crime.
